I'm finally doing What Pride Had Wrought after putting it off for so long and I find it weird that I'm asking Morrigan questions about tales of Mythal and acting like I don't know the stories of the elven gods. Did that happen to all of you too? I hope it's not a bug or something.

I disliked that it seemed like everyone knew more elvish than me. I'm a keeper's second, dammit. I should know these things.

But I took every knowledge perk this time around. Maybe I'll know more when I get there this time.

No, this really bothered me as well. :S My Inquisitor asked Morrigan if she thought "this Mythal" could be alive/around, which I thought was really weird. Especially since she's apparently got Mythal's tattoos on her face...

 

Also, Abelas called her "shemlen" and I still don't know if he was trying to insult her or if the game got confused. >_>

 

I read the "shemlen" thing was an intentional insult. In the same way that Solas doesn't seem to see Sera or the Dalish as part of the People. The other stuff was a bit weird though. I wish they'd had more elfy dialogue options.

The Dalish are wrong sometimes in their interpretation of the eleven gods because they only have little bits and pieces of ancient elvish lore, I don't know if you have finished the game yet so I will refrain from saying anything else. I would assume Morrigan knows even more about the elven gods than the Dalish

Well "Shemlen" literally means "quick children", supposedly used by the ancient elves to refer to humans because of their mortality. So perhaps he's using it in that context.

I haven't finished but I've seen the end of the game, no worries. The part I find odd is that a DALISH ELF is basically asking Morrigan who Mythal is and about the tales of Mythal and the elven gods.  Even if the tales are false, the Dalish Inquisitor should already know everything Morrigan said in that scene and for some reason they're asking her to explain. I'm starting to think it might be a bug, coupled with that shemlen thing.

If Morrigan has the OGB and is the one to drink from the well...when you meet Flemeth/Mythal in the fade Morrigan has to "consult" the well voices in order to confirm that Flemeth is Mythal. The thought never crosses her mind until Flemeth brings it up - despite Morrigan having access to all of the well information and knowing her mother for almost her entire life. Quizzie has only known Solas for a bit, and it has probably never crossed her mind that he's the Dread Wolf.

Another thing I'm wondering about is whether all ancient elves are bald and the fact that modern elves have hair is somehow related to the quickening?  Or maybe their hair falls out when they do hardcore magic, like Zathrian.

By the way can anyone explain to me who Felassan is?? Everyone I speak to about DA and Solas keep bringing this name up. I know he is an elf in the masked empire but what does he have to do with Solas? That or I'm super blonde. Solas, Felassan, Fen'Heral jesus my head! Haha

Felessan is a mysterious elf who becomes something of a mentor to Briala. He has an unusual insight into the elven ancients, and like Solas, mysteriously has no ties to any known Dalish clans. He also rather liked telling Briala stories about Fen'Heral. 

During the course of the novel, Briala comes into control of the passcode to several eluvian mirrors. She offers to give this information to Felessan- who instead forbids her from ever telling him.

He then returns back to the wood, and enters a trance. While in the fade he reports back to his master that he willingly refused to learn the passcode to the mirrors, which presumably was what his master was after. He tells the unknown person that the elves are stronger than "they" think, and that Briala reminded him of Fen'Heral. [But he's actually killed before he gets to say Fen'Heral. So the question is, was he about to say 'Fen'Heral', or 'You'?]  

TLDR; Felessan is an elf very similar to Solas who may have been murdered by Fen'Heral or someone who really hates Fen'Heral.

So I would say it is likely! I think Cole is probably the best predictor as far as Solas's intentions go.

Sorry. I had spoiled myself and I knew something heartbreaking was going to happen. But not like this. I had to step back from the game and go drink a glass of water just to feel a little better. I mean, HOW THE HELL AM I GOING TO ROMANCE ANYONE ELSE NOW???

After this, after that PERFECT scene, after THAT voice acting. How am I suppose to choose anyone else in future playthroughs? Patrick, you better collect the fan tears and keep up the wonderful job you did with this character. I haven't even finished the main quest and I'm already like this. I saw his card and now I think I know what's coming. BUT. but. That last romance scene was just perfection. It broke my heart, but now I love Solas even more. Is that bad?

After I "beat" the game tomorrow (it's late here now, and I think I need a break lol) I'll try to read the pages of this thread that I missed. 

I hope we'll get an expansion soon. I need my Lavellan to be with him *sobs*

1. I already guessed that about Solas. Go me!

 

2. WTF did I just witness?

 

I'm going to have to sleep on this before I can form coherent thought. Right now I can't help but feel like this should be a setup to something else. It can't just end here like this. There seems to be so much more story that wants to be told now, so a big story expansion would be great. We're good with quests! Plenty left on the war table! Let's see the next chapter soon please!

Felassan was working for the elven gods? Or one of the elven gods? But is in fact more sympathetic to Solas/Fen'harel.

 

Perhaps Solas doesn't want to free the elven gods at all, but realizes that they're in the process of trying to free themselves.

Perhaps, but I know my quizzie would have looked into memories for several reasons. 

- she would have wanted to know more about the orb that Corypheous had, if they had anything on that it might have led to Solas.

- She'd look back into Mythal to see if there's anything that will give her a better idea of what she got herself into

- She also would have looked back into 'the people' to understand why abelas called her a 'shem'.

- After hearing about Mythal's murder she also would have looked for things on that to see what actually happened, which would have led her to look into more about the gods/lore in general. (I was playing a very... "elfy" elf as Sera would put it.)

- If she had not looked more into the gods and lore due to reasons above she likely would have started looking into lore and history that is available after Solas tells her about the vallaslin.

 

If they knew who Solas was it seems likely to me that Lavellan would have eventually ran into something that made her question Solas. If she had not, she likely would have still found memories related enough to him that she would have brought up to Solas (even innocently not suspecting something strange about him) and his reactions could have warranted suspicion. My inquisitor also had a good relationship with Cole. Some of the things he may have said about Solas or with Solas while traveling (banters and whatnot) may have been enough to trigger her to question him.
