Not sure if this has any relevance, but during In Hushed Whispers, didn't Corypheus manage to conquer Southern Thedas in just one year after Alexius made the Inquisitor disappear?

I would say any where from 6 months to a year.

I originally planned my first playthrough to be a human male rogue, but by the time I was done with the prologue I had a feeling that the story would be better if done with a female Dalish elf (mage in this case) that romanced Solas.

 

After restarting numerous times to get her appearance right (it still isn't) I finally beat the game tonight, and to my delight (questionable word choice I know) I was correct.

 

I also suppose that Solas surpassed whatever heartbreaking ability Alistair has/had.

Since it's possible to stay with Alistair depending on choices no matter your race...yeah, it definitely hurts more, that final romance scene (Vallaslin removal) blows me away though, best I've experienced..and the most intimate, sex isn't needed for depth. I want him back...

I don't really get why people freak out so much because of the sex scenes anyway...
If it's there and it's well done sure, I'll take it
But I don't need it, the Vallaslin scene is much better imo
The entire last scene is absolutely fantastic

I just have so many feelings! And I have a save before it so I can see it again. It was such a beautiful, romantic scene. And so touching. Then it starts going into "sexy time" mode, and THEN HE DUMPS YOU. ARGH! HE EVEN DID THE BUTT TOUCH! YOU DON'T DO THAT THEN DUMP SOMEONE.

 

Of course, I'm doing all this complaining. But I loved it. I want them to reconcile so badly right now. I need to work on my fanfic. Which I probably will never share. But.. I need to write down my feelings. And there's some scenes that I would handle differently. (Like Cole's companion quest. Really, Lavellan. You're with your fade nerd boyfriend, and he's been calling Cole a spirit all this time, and you're like "I don't know what he is. Could be a demon." )

 

I felt no shame in choosing the catty response when Josie asked what happened to my Vallaslin. "WHY DON'T YOU ASK SOLAS?!?!"

I really, really have to give Bioware, and Weekes in particular, props for the sheer metaphorical balls it took to go with that sort of scene. They're monsters, but monsters I'm heavily impressed with.

My opinion exactly. I actually like that both Josie and Solas didn't get a sex-scene. It's a nice acknowledgement of asexuality, but leaves enough room for people to make their own interpretations. If you want to, you can see it as two people in a relationship without sexual intimacy. But you can also see it as a relationship with that intimacy. Just because they don't explicitly show it doesn't mean it couldn't have happened. As long as Bioware doesn't outright say the one or the other is canon (which I highly doubt they would, because what's the point of that?) you can happily have your own interpretation of the relationship.

Also I absolutely understand the reasoning behind Solas not having a sex-scene. Because unlike other romances, say like Isabela or Zevran, where in the early stages of the romance its more about physical pleasure and just having fun. (Not to say I don't like Isabela & Zevran, I love those two idiots to bits and pieces ) But with Solas its pretty much established from the start that he and Lavellan have a different connection that was based more on intellectual attraction, and less on physical attraction. For me, any sexual intimacy between them would come after a lot of emotional build up, and would be something very special and personal. - And just imagine the break-up after such a shared experience. That would have hurt ten-fold. I can see why Solas wouldn`t want that to happen. Because any intimacy between them would be meaningful, and not just to blow off steam or have some fun, no strings attached.
I don't think it is necessarily about how it would have looked like he used Lavellan just for some physical pleasure, because no matter how you spin it, Solas isn't the kind of character to do that. But it`s more about him trying to keep a distance because allowing himself to share something like that with another person would mean another level of intimacy and trust he knew he couldn't give, because he knew he had to take that away again, eventually.

I got about half-way through the main story before I accidentally read some spoilers about Solas. Terrible, I know, but I kept going with it, hoping I'd be emotionally ready for what would happen. I just finished What Pride Had Wrought and the Vallaslin cutscene. I wasn't ready, you guys. I haven't slept since then (several hours ago), but thankfully I found this lovely thread. Am I missing something? Was it explained somewhere how or when or why (I know he said why he gave it, but what was that to accomplish is what I mean) Solas gave the orb to Corypheus? That seems a big deal sort of thing, isn't it? Corypheus wasn't awake for long, unless the transfer happened before he was locked away. And then to have Solas fighting at my side and not a comment at all from Corypheus? Was he somehow different when that happened?

Or maybe I'll find these answers when I browse around spoilers and stuff tomorrow. My mind is rambling off on its own and I haven't been able to get it to come back yet.

Yes, I was wondering exactly the same things. Why is there no comment at all if Solas is in your party?

Perhaps Solas did not give Cory the orb directly? Otherwise, I find it hard to believe that Cory wouldn't at all acknowledge the elf who gave him the ancient and powerful artifact. And I'm still having trouble understanding why Solas would choose to give the orb to Cory, of all people. An ancient magister/ dark spawn doesn't seem like the best person to entrust with such a dangerous object. Surely there was someone else out there who could help, or Solas could wait until he had enough power to accomplish his goal(s) (whatever they may be).

Although nobody probably remembers me Finished my first playthrough and Solas turned out to be everything I wanted him to be, such a well written character and romance arc, just wished for more scenes. I have a feeling that final scene is setting up an expansion or a dlc,surely they wouldn´t have us waiting another 3-4 years?

i did that one scene (you know the one) five or so times before i decided on an outcome. still not sure it was the right one. Solas was a better character than i could have dreamed (though PW's charas are some of my favorites so i really shouldn't be surprised).
