Oh BTW on the Cullen thread there are some modders that are investigating ways to swap hair. Me I want to swap those ugly jamies Lavellan wears on Skyhold. I have been pretty involved with modding ME3 in the past and got some help from Voider the guy who did all the ME3 modding tools. Maybe we have some good news in a month or two

Well, what if she ascends to godhood after her death (even if it's a natural death by old age after a full life?).  He waits for her as she lives her mortal life and he then brings her to his side... kind of like a rip off mix of Titanic and Andraste/the Maker?  It may be too storybook fairytale, but I'd like it lol.

One thing to remember- Solas himself doesn't consider the elven gods to be true gods. So I doubt there would be any way for Lavellan to be like him.

Barring some sort of deal like Flemeth made. And even Flemeth had to steal bodies to become immortal.

Not mine. She's quietly mourning his absence, sad to have lost what they had, but holding on to the tender memories and happy she has them. Her confusion still stems from WTF does she do now knowing she lived a lie about her people and the knowledge that they are "nothing" in the sight of so many. I think that has her more upset and angry than a boyfriend skipping out. He had her back when it counted. She's good.

 

Swear to goodness I thought it would all be great once the game came out and we got to finally see the story. But no! Now we have to wait and see what happens next. It burns.

Some elves in uthenera were able to reach "perfection" and draw sustenence from the Fade rather than dying in their sleep. It is possible that some still live, and retain some amount of control over the world of dreams. Elves in uthenera were tended by servants to prevent discomfort from waking them, and who bathed them in scented oils to provide them the spark of wisdom on their journey. Sacred herbs were thrown onto a "eternal fire" in the sleeping chambers (also sometimes doubling as burial chambers) of the Dreamers to guide them to the Beyond.

 

An elf who had perfected themselves no longer required the potion of water, honey and herbs used to keep mages alive during uthenera (this was determined by brushing the potion on the lips at the full moon and determining at the new moon if it had been imbibed or not). Such elves were moved into beds of pure white, signifying their achievement.

Could it have something to do with the separation from the fade? Maybe removing the Veil would solve that. I would think that since Solas isn't a true god, there may be a way for Lavellan to imitate whatever it is he does to be immortal.

 

That may be wishful thinking. I find the idea of them getting back together only for her to eventually die to be quite sad. Plus her growing old while he remains perpetually 40 might cause some tension.

My Lavellan believed in them, too. So, basically everything went wrong for her - except killing Cory, Now there's not much left. I also LOVED the answer you could give Cory in the end: "I don't believe in gods." That was perfect.

I realized something at Adamant, and can't believe I didn't put it together before.

Dagna says that the Herald's mark looks like a key. Morrigan says that to open or close an eluvian you need a key- like the eluvians behind which Solas imprisoned the old gods. In the Fade you learn that the Herald got the mark when she grabbed the orb and took its power. So the Herald's mark isn't just any old key- it's Solas' key. The Herald is the last remaining vestige of FenHarel's power in the world.

 

So now I'm starting to believe the theory that he leaves because, romanced or not, he's not willing to use the Inquisitor like a servant. He's trying to find some other way to do what he needs to do, because he won't be like the other gods who bind mortals and make them do their will, as we see Mythal do. He involves himself in closing the Breach, but that's because it threatens the world. So you have that moment where he grabs her hand and directs her to close the rift. It must be very tempting for him to ask her to do something like that for him again.

 

There was also some discussion somewhere upthread about why Solas would risk

giving Corypheus his orb. His dialogue pretty much confirms that he hoped Corypheus could awaken the orb, but he didn't expect that he'd be able to use it and that expected that he would die in the attempt to do so.

 

 

 

 

 

This adds a whole new level of understanding to the hand grab thing, agreed.  Also maybe it explains why he couldn't resist her affections?

In the second romance scene, Solas asks about your spirit and whether or not it has changed due to the anchor. He would know the feel of his own magic, know how it felt. Especially when he grabbed her/his hand.

 

Maybe he worried whether or not he influenced the Inquisitor to change, if there was any change at all.

 

Even Abelas is familiar with the feel of Fen'harel's magic as he mentions this when you first encounter the Sentinels.

 

I think it would be safe to say that he didn't want to use the Inquisitor like the ancient Elven Gods did -- because he keeps trying to show that the Dalish gods weren't all that great when you have certain dialogues with him. How their stories are cloaked with nostalgia and hardly any truth and to use someone like that would only make him no better.

My Lavellan would react similarly, I think. She isn't really emotionally destroyed.

 

I think learning the truth about her people might actually give her the drive to actually do something about the way the Dalish have been living. Not abolish traditions or anything, but to stop focusing so much on what they had and instead looking to what they could have in the future. Its time for her people to move on. Having gotten some clout as the leader of the Inquisition, she might be in the position to actually do something about it.

 

She does worry about Solas though. I think by the end of the game some part of her realizes that he probably was hiding something, but she isn't sure what. She would probably feel very much that he might be in some sort of trouble.

Okay, maybe that last part is stretching it. I don't know what powers the Dread Wolf actually really has.

I am not sure! I guess we'll have to find out if there's any real physical differences between ancient elves/modern elves. I suppose we also have Zatharian who extended his life via dark magics. It seems strange that humans would not be able to harness this ability, particularly one as powerful as Flemeth.

I speculated he might be wondering if she's like him because she's got a part of him. He's happy if she says she's that way because of her decisions alone.

I think the gods are a mixed bag, but his big deal is freedom- he objected to the gods enslaving people's wills. He shows reverence and affection for the elven temples you enter, even the ones that are stacked with skulls.

He obviously sees Mythal as a close friend, yet he still strongly objects to an oath of slavery to her. So it seems to me he doesn't hate the gods- they're his own kind- but recognizes that they can be capricious and cruel like any other race and their biggest crime is demanding obedience. He disdains Corypheus for having to posture and prove he's a god.

But Fen'Harel is more like Hermes or Hades! A trickster who in his own way looks out for mortals, and also a hugely villified deity who is actually a pretty nice guy.

I wouldn't mind a demigod Fade baby, though. Solas would be a great father, lol.
