And no way to prevent a certain mage from blowing up the Chantry. Though at least you get the chance to refuse to be an accomplice.
You can choose to kill him or stay with him.

Wait I'm confused. Where does player choice come into this??? Because the romance ended in angst, it shouldn't be in the game.
Not everything needs a happy ending.
Ditto. There is player choice: You can not do the romance. You can start a romance with someone else(I know I had the option to initiate a Cullen romance the whole time). You can react in different ways to him leaving. There is choice; I don't see how it's any different from other romances. Either way, you're in a romance and you can choose to dissolve it or see it through to the end. Solas' just has a different (hopefully temporary) end.
You can choose to kill him or stay with him.
True, that was a bad example. xD Sorry.
Reveals him?
Spoiler
I saw the three names for his quests. Maybe the orbs is his third. Because activating the first one is his first quest.
No, but as I said, Morrigan left respectfully and he had her ring.
As far as Alistair goes, you could always reload and make different choices.
I don't know if I consider Morrigan leaving and saying you'll never get to see your kid as leaving "respectfully."

The only way to win this particular game is not to play. Is that so hard to understand that this is a non-choice?

At least she explained everything to him and why she had to leave. Didn't dump him in the middle of a romantic scene, either. And, as I said, he always knew he had her ring.
Considering we already know there is a tile in the Keep for Solas's romance, I'm pretty sure him dumping you isn't the end.
Whether we'll get closure in DLC or in DA4 is anyone's guess.

I guess one of the things I generally like is when there is no "win" choice.
Otherwise, I realized about halfway through the romance that I had picked the romance that was going to be important to the main plot. To me, that's a win. Everything I've felt as a result of his romance has been a win, because I like feeling things that get me more invested in the story. Even if they're sad feelings.

There is?! Bless you! Okay, I'll just shut up now and be patient, then.
And I absolutely adore your icon, btw.

O.o So by that logic, not romancing Solas isn't a choice. Sorry, that's just stupid. You have the choice or not romancing him, you don't get to choose his decisions for him.

You just proved my point, thanks.
But in any case, it does seem like more of his story will be coming down the road at some point.
Because it's a powerful plotline that obviously many of us have thoroughly enjoyed? It expands on his character and has a large emotional impact.

Yea I think if him dumping you was the end, they would let you romance Cullen afterwards. But they don't.
But if you dump him two seconds earlier, they do.
Somehow Cullen knows the difference....
Edit. Now that I think of it, My Lavellan must have a very complicated/awkward relationship with Cullen at the moment...

Lol. Just because you typed it doesn't make it true.

I actually had the option to romance Cullen afterwards. Even kind of considered it, as a further "eff you" to Solas, who broke my Inquisitor's heart.

Good, more proof that this isn't the end. Okay, I'm a bit better now.

Did you? I went to start a romance with him and he was like, "I heard you were involved with someone else." And it wouldn't let me continue.

After the temple scene? I didn't.

Ah, I didn't actually click the option, I just know it gave me the heart, and when I highlighted it the "This will start a romance with Cullen" text popped up.

Yea, if you click it, he won't actually start one with you, if you didn't dump Solas.
Someone on this thread a few days ago said they successfully started a romance with Cullen in the version where they dumped him. I could probably go load up my save and test it for sure, but I figured I should give that disclaimer for now.

I asked about it in the Cullen thread and it only works if you dump him after the Fade kiss.

Ah, well, that's cool to know. When I played it, I thought it was a mix of me reacting in a pissy way to the breakup and the fact that there was never "this will begin a romance with Solas" text.
I asked about it in the Cullen thread and it only works if you dump him after the Fade kiss.
You can dump him in the final romance scene before the breakup and still romance Cullen. I did it for curiosity's sake.
