You can dump him in the final romance scene before the breakup and still romance Cullen. I did it for curiosity's sake.
Huh. When, exactly? Before or after the Vallaslin thing?

Only before. He'll say you surprise him in this matter as well, and he'll walk off.
There's no way to choose another romance with the vallaslin choice.

Is it bad that I'm cackling evilly now?
Even though it physically pained me to click the option, I broke up with Solas in the final scene to see what happens.

Pffft, a few minutes more and the situation would be reversed. No sympathy. ![]()
Seriously, though, this is good as it points to a continuation as well.
Okay, wow. I finally finished my first playthrough on Friday morning (stupid real life, not letting me play straight through!). I never really cared much about the romances, thought Solas looked cool, but never really gave two pins about any of the companions besides Varric
. I think I may have ventured into this thread once, for about ten seconds, after I clicked on a link someone posted. You guys all seemed nice, I just wasn't invested, I'm dwarva through and through, and didn't much care about whatever elfy magic Solas had going on. I figured I wouldn't roll a Dalish anyway, til after my Cadash playthrough and then Qunari one. Then some craziness happened, I was super disappointed in Sumalee Montano's performance (which made me sad, because I've loved her in other things) and I ended up deleting my poor, scruffy little Cadash before we even made it out of Haven. I got a wild hair, and rolled a Dalish instead... and oh...my...glob. I loved romancing Solas SO FRICKIN' MUCH! It was... awesome, and this is coming from someone who doesn't often like video game romances (they just always make me cringe a bit). It was just... I was totally blown away! Hey guys, I have a question.
Thanks!
Turns out Solas' dialogue after the ball(when you're back at the castle) is bugged: if you support Celene+Briala, your dialogue just abruptly ends after the first dialogue option you choose. Solas says that, yes, it was a good choice, and walks away, the conversation ends.
Whereas I've seen in this very thread that if you side with Gaspard and Briala, you're supposed to get much more - a flirt option, a dialogue about "your people" and so on. ![]()

Damn... I guess it's a good thing my canon Solasmance playthrough isn't set to begin till we get info about any potential DLC, but this is getting really upsetting. ):
Hi! Long time lurker, here. I don't think I've actually posted on these forums in years, but I finished DAI for the first time last night with a Solas romance and had to come in and say something. I have to admit, I was initially really drawn to Cullen, but the more I got to know Solas, the more intrigued I was by him. And I am so so so glad I had his romance on my first go, when everything was fresh and exciting.
And maybe I'm a masochist, but I LOVED the heartbreak. When something gets me as emotionally invested as Solas did, I know it's good writing. And even though at first I was like, "He's not going to let me hit that??" I'm actually really glad it was a more intellectual connection than any other romance. I also appreciated that he was probably the first truly mature romance I had in DA. Not that I don't love the others as much in their own ways, but it was refreshing having a man man.
I definitely think of the romance options in this game, he's the best for the main story. Which is problematic, since now I won't be able to play an elf without romancing him. Hey, remember when everyone was terrified about elf babies? I dunno about the rest of you, but I could use some elf babies right now...

Whoa! Double post - sorry! No idea how that happened D:
Yeah, I'm pretty sure you get locked out of the other romances UNLESS you end things before Solas does. Which, to me, says the Keep wants to acknowledge your relationship... which means DLC/sequels/etc want to acknowledge your relationship...

Okay, for those of you who want Briala and Celene ending, but want to see Solas' whole conversation. I don't know if it helps, but here are excellent maps of the palace with Halla statues: http://imgur.com/a/Pavce
If you don't want to replay your entire game, but just want that conversation, it will only take fifteen minutes of your time. You can just restore your save before entering the Royal Wing. Then collect the four halla as shown on the lowest map(right bottom corner of the webpage), open the big door numbered 30 on the map, and get compromising material on Celene. Then you'll have a choice to reunite the three, and after playing through the final cutscenes, you'll be able to get a Skyhold save and replay that conversation with Solas again and again.
(Like I did. What can I say? I'm crazy about the elf.)
So what's the point of putting it in the game at all? For masochists?
I liked it. I think RL trauma can get us pretty shaken about things that don't affect others. Maybe the Solasmance is a minor trigger for you ?
I know I just can't get an LI that cheats on me (cause of my most painful RL breakup) and thank heavens Bioware hasn't written one yet. I probably wouldn't enjoy it if it was on a game. and would be ranting about it.

D: Nooooo. He has so little content as it is, this just kills me. ;_; Is there a place where the bug has been reported?

Welcome to the thread!
And yeah, out of all of the Dragon Age romances I've done, Solas is by far my favourite. I was intrigued by him before the game came out, but I never would've expected that I'd love him so much.
Really, I've always been more of a Mass Effect fan. But Solas just brought the Dragon Age lore to life for me. I've never been as invested in the DA universe as I am now.
Hey guys, I have a question.

Thanks!
He still starts that scene where he asks you if the mark changed you and you can continue the romance there
I had broken up with him, kept things going with Cullen, think my Lavellan (think she even had had her first kiss with Cullen) and the sassy baldie didn't care, he wants you and he wants you now so he says he

I hope you're right. I got the damned romance achievement (Beloved and Precious: Commit to a Romantic Relationship) after Solas dumped my Lavellan. It could just be sadism on the writer's part (
), but I'd like to think that the description of the achievement actually means something for ALL the romances.

I was really tempted to romance Solas though! >.<
His presentation was so surprising. I did not expect that plot twist at the end. He was probably like the one character I wanted full approval from. I really liked the scenes with him, romance or friendship path.

Still sore about that one personally. Completely flew in the face of everything Jacob said he was.

I still don't understand why Jacob and Brynn couldn't have been just good friends in the Jacob romance.
