I'm getting the feeling that the next two games are going to be like Mass Effect, where we play one character through it. With carried over romances and new romances in each installment. What if the first two games are basically, "Setting up the World", and Inquisition is "Setting up the Characters", with the next two games (I do believe BW has said there's going to be at least two more, unless I'm mistaken?) being "Fix It", basically?

IDK. It probably won't happen, but I really, really want it too. Especially if there are going to be more than four games. I don't want so many characters that I have to care about. Three is enough lol.

My word. I'd LOVE that.    Mass Effect will be my favorite because we came to know and love our characters.

Just curious. Which version of the final scene did you guys pick and why?

You have to stop me. I started again with another elf lady (couldn't resist). I tried to make her look delicate but wise, 'cause I think that's what Solas like
I need help. Send help!

Here she is, Ceridwen Lavellan: spoiler for size! Oh, she will lose the smile... :crying:

They'd still have the voice actors under contract for DLC content.

It still costs $$. But I think there's a good shot, since this is a comeback title for Bioware.

I hope the game gets a good expac, maybe setting up a future game involving Tevinter/ Arlathan.

As for romance endings:

Edit: Also, who else would be all over a Citadel-type DLC for DAI? It wouldn't exactly be the closure we're looking for after the game but I'm weak and I loved the pure fan-service! I know it was silly and cheesy but gosh was that DLC fun. If we had something like that with all the DAI characters and Solas in it? Take my money, BioWare!

I find myself liking a lot of them. Just the fact that you can pick so many different ways to respond. I think the angry-shove-tell-me-i-was-just-a-dalliance, I-love-you and the-elvhen-speak one are my favorites. I think I've been told the last one has her telling him; "You feel nothing, you have no heart."

Very true.  It would be nice to see an expansion.  Just too bad DA2's got cancelled.

I don't really think so, but I could be wrong. They seem to say that they always planned on having a new protagonist every game.

I just don't know what more they could do with our DA:I companions in a whole extra game to keep them interesting. But I do think they'll continue what they did with Hawke and have the previous protagonists have a role in the later games.

And I dunno - for me, after this game, I have finally stopped caring about my Warden. The little info they gave on what she was up to was enough closure for me. Even Hawke's story has gotten enough closure for now (tho my epilogue cards still mentioned her which I would think means she'll get brought up again in the future).

My guess is

Just had That Scene.

You know, until the very last moment, I still hoped it would end differently.

(the achievement ping at the end did nothing to improve my spirits, let me tell you.)

As for the reply, I really only saw one option("I believe in us"). Just like in "Once Upon a Time": "I will find you. I will always find you." (Though I prefer Rumple and Belle, but ah well). Really, when I learnt about That Scene, all I wanted to tell him "Whatever path you are destined to tread, I will tread with you" - and the game pretty much gives you that option.

Aaand: just wanted to share one more thought. You know, that suicide jump from the balcony? The one some of us wrote here about? Or just finding a task for the heroine to get herself killed, or even something more drastic(like to turn herself into a golem or a Tranquil, so the Inquisition would be able to use the mark, but she'd forget the pain?). I thought about it, too. Actually, while the pain is raw, seems like the easiest option. But. Solas lost too much already - think of his friend and "I will endure". And much more than that. And giving someone you love so much one more loss is... well. I just couldn't do this to him, I think.

And then in DA4, a new protagonist will have to deal with the repercussions of that.

Reading in this thread one day after "the impact", so to speak, makes me wonder:

What have I gotten myself into by romancing this guy?! I could have picked Cullen or even Blackwall, or what ever, and have a normal romance, but no. It had to be this one.

I regret nothing!!!

IMO it's the most perfect romance in the series. And I appreciate the impact it has or seems to have. It just appears to be so meaningful, and unlike with my Warden, for example, I'd be okay with an unhappy ending if done right, because this is about so much more. Does that make sense?

Please Bioware, please get it right!

I just thought of something, Guys in real life who are mysterious and guarded seem cool until you start to get to know them and realize that they are human with all their flaws. Then they become less interesting. Guys in video games/fiction who are mysterious and guarded turn out to

Solas being only into elves makes total sense, but now that I know why I'm really angry I can't romance him off to literally anything else.

Concerning dlc, I've heard a rumor that there will be at least 2 or 3 expansions to this and at least five extra downloads. The first to release will post date the game and hopefully we will actually have our closure! I've heard that is the case lol so here's to hoping!

Completely want Wolf Hunt.

And I just love how literally everything the elves know about each other is, at best, misinterpreted.

Solas:  So...your tattoos...

She kept them.  They may be misinterpreted, but they're part of her clan identity.

Really wanna romance him to anything but an elf now.  If Mythal's chosen can be human, why shouldn't Fen'haral's be a qunari or a dwarf?  If he's a bridge between worlds, why not human?

Oh yeah, I love this whole conversation. I love how Solas just spits out "knife-ear" too...

I also loved the post in that thread claiming Solas is like a nerd on a forum who constantly corrects people by breaking down their posts and telling them all the ways they're wrong. I don't know why, but that cracks me up. Maybe because I can totally see it.

I have a quick question:  I am about to finish the game with over 100 hours worth of playtime.  I've been slightly spoiled on Solas' companion quests, so I knew going into it what to expect.  But I just started the "Doom Upon All the World" quest and the only companion quest of his that I've had was

Anyone know what gives?

I've suspected some quests are only triggered by romances.  Try another one where you romance him, and see if there's a difference?

So what's the point of putting it in the game at all?  For masochists?

The people who enjoyed Solas' romance aren't masochists. I understand that you and your Inquisitor feel burned by the romance, but a romance not having a happy ending (at present) is not a reason to not put it in the game at all.

Not all romances work out in real life and I like that in games this is sometimes reflected. It's totally fine to prefer romances where there is a happy ending - that's why romances like Cullen are in the game, to cater to people with those kinds of preferences. The Solas romance caters to a different kind of preference.

I feel like some people are missing the point of the Solas romance. One of the main points to me of the romance is to gain a greater understanding of Solas as a character - his past, his future agenda, his burden and his conflict. It helps set up his role for the future. Another point of the romance is the story they were trying to tell - a pair of star-crossed people whose love is doomed to end (at least for now) in tragedy. In that regard it's like a fairytale (the old kind where things do not always end nicely, not the Disney kind), and I'm pleased BW tried it in a DA game, because they hadn't really done anything like it before. The romance is about themes; a god (or god-like being) despite his efforts not to falls in love with a mortal. It's like something out of folklore or myth.
