I've suspected some quests are only triggered by romances.  Try another one where you romance him, and see if there's a difference?

Ah, interesting.  That's good to know.  I definitely didn't romance him (what with being a male qunari and all.....), so maybe that's why I never got the quest line that I was expecting to see.  Thanks.

Same way.  I saw some interesting thread titles on scuttlebutt, dropped what I was doing to romance Solas, and then played Blackwall's quest, and...

Yea, if you click it, he won't actually start one with you, if you didn't dump Solas.

Someone on this thread a few days ago said they successfully started a romance with Cullen in the version where they dumped him. I could probably go load up my save and test it for sure, but I figured I should give that disclaimer for now.

It was me and it was only possible if Lavellan broke it off by the lake before Solas did.

At the end of the day, tragic romances are always the most memorable. Romeo and Juliet, Gone with the Wind etc.

The punch scene is so shocking to me, I'll never play that way, I'm a rebel myself and I always side with Mages.  It's so weird to see the other side...

Oh I can seriously overlook it. If I can overlook Anders being a ****** mass-murdering terrorist, I can overlook this. (Realization that all my characters have very unhealthy relationships with their men)

I'd overlook it too :D but I think it would be nice for there to be an option to not overlook it, just in case some people want it!

Yeah! Really glad someone uploaded that path, as I am not likely to play through it. But still a lot of insight to be gleamed. I really like that Solas doesn't strike back. He just leaves.

I'd like to overlook other things.  For instance, the way I played my Dalish, she should have been able to say, "I was not sent by the maker...clearly I was sent by Falon'din."

I feel extra bad for Solas in that punchy scene because, like, the dude already doesn't have any physical friends... I'm sure his approval is too low for that Inquisitor to learn of his spirit friends... no respect for the one thing he knows he's really good at... It really rubs in his line, "There are endless ways to say someone isn't worth listening to. Over time, it grinds away at you."

Just saw this posted on the kink meme. Warning! Sad fic & pic is sad. Spoilers.

Is it weird that a part of me kinda wants an option like this in the expansion? I'm horrible and a glutton for tragic love.

I find his critique rather interesting, more fuel for my "good guy who might do more stupid stuff" theory.

I don't want to derail the other thread, but this was posted elsewhere:

Very interesting. Love the veiled sarcasm in the 'I should watch my tone. I speak to a demigod, after all.'

I absolutely adore this.  You can see that this seething vitriol is not wholly directed at the inquisitor, but at the ones in his past who did the same thing.

See, I'd snuck onto the scuttlebutt spoiler forum and kept seeing interesting thread titles I couldn't bring myself to click.  Spent most of the game going, "He's completely going to blow up a chantry."  Was not expecting...that.

The voice acting in this game is just so wonderful. It's on par with Japanese voice acting. That just makes me wonder why English anime dubs are so awful. Ah whatever.

I just heard Solas' german voice (my native language) and...he sounds like some kind of teenie hipster, oh my god. The voice acting itself is fine and works well, but that voice! His wisdom just flew out the window and was replaced with the german voice of Big Bang Theory's Lennard. I just can't take hipster Solas seriously.

He sounds like a 20 year old, not a fade expert that can be cruel but full of knowledge. I don't hate it but come on, the Lady Inquisitor has a deeper voice than him. *shudder*

Yeah! Once again, some excellent voice acting and facial animations there. [Minus the weird position glitch.]

I actually like how it brings out the worse side of Solas too. That racism was out full force in that conversation. That's why I love watching playthroughs where you're enemies with the characters; it always gives more insight!

Edit: Also, I love that even when he vehemently disagrees with the choice to keep the Templar Order and despite clearly hating the Inquisitor, he approves when the Inquisitor gives a sensible explanation as to why to keep the Templars around. Even here he's not entirely closed-off to the Inquisitor and his choices.

It's okay, but by no means perfect. Reason why I watched every important scene on youtube again in english ^^

Hi! I've been lurking here for the past few days, not really a forum person. But yeah, romanced Solas because I like elves and it turned out to be worth it with all the stuff you find out about him and elves. :D

I have a quick question:  I am about to finish the game with over 100 hours worth of playtime.  I've been slightly spoiled on Solas' companion quests, so I knew going into it what to expect.  But I just started the "Doom Upon All the World" quest and the only companion quest of his that I've had was

Spoiler
.  Did I miss something?  How is it possible that I never got any of his other quests?  I've talked to him after every single story mission and, while he's disagreed with me about some things, I've gone out of my way to bring him to find elven artifacts.

Anyone know what gives?

I posted here as well, but yeah there should be another quest called What Lies Dormant according to the guide. Haven't read about it triggering for anyone so far, and as listed in the thread All New, Faded for Her isn't in the completed quests list for some reason. :S How is it for you? Maybe it has something to do with it. Or maybe it's the romance as was suggested.

Anddd I was wondering if anyone's completed the Shards quests yet? Question about completing it after the story's ended-

Spoiler

It's not terrible and the voice actor does a good job - I just think it was the wrong voice actor. It was Solas' voice that made him interesting for me because it fits him so well. Then I listen to the german one and all of a sudden he sounds twenty years younger. I was...not expecting that. :D

Ahh, both of these are delicious... in a well-written character sorta way. Solas can be very stubborn, can think a little too highly of his own opinion, and yet, he does see things in shades of grey and is willing to hear you out if you're, you know, respectful and actually willing to communicate. He's flawed, but good. Good flawed!

And did he just call humans thugs? LMAO. "I thought I might be wrong buuuut then this dickweed Inquisitor comes along..."

Ever since I heard who would voice him, I wondered how they even came to that conclusion ^^ In game it works better than expected, but you're right, it's so different! What really bugs me are little translation "errors" (example post credit scene: "the people" was translated as "die Leute", not as "das Volk", which would fit better here). But that's probably just me overreacting   :)
