Aaand: just wanted to share one more thought. You know, that suicide jump from the balcony? The one some of us wrote here about? Or just finding a task for the heroine to get herself killed, or even something more drastic(like to turn herself into a golem or a Tranquil, so the Inquisition would be able to use the mark, but she'd forget the pain?). I thought about it, too. Actually, while the pain is raw, seems like the easiest option. But. Solas lost too much already - think of his friend and "I will endure". And much more than that. And giving someone you love so much one more loss is... well. I just couldn't do this to him, I think.

 

Yeah, I did that to my Lavellan post-credits out of frustration.

Well, whatever he's planning, he told Cole he was going to do it forever alone. Once that DLC/expansion comes out, I think he's in for a disappointment, though - Bioware owes us at least two cutscenes at this point, I'd say.

And equal parts slaps and hugs, depending on the mood. I sincerely, sincerely hope he isn't being shunted to the next game where we'll receive all of our answers. I'm fine with headcanoning my way out of a dismal situation in a canonical story, but that'd be just cruel.

I just heard Solas' german voice (my native language) and...he sounds like some kind of teenie hipster, oh my god. The voice acting itself is fine and works well, but that voice! His wisdom just flew out the window and was replaced with the german voice of Big Bang Theory's Lennard. I just can't take hipster Solas seriously.

He sounds like a 20 year old, not a fade expert that can be cruel but full of knowledge. I don't hate it but come on, the Lady Inquisitor has a deeper voice than him. *shudder*

 

I was really surprised when I heard who would be voicing Solas in the german version. I enjoy the german BBT, but I agree, it doesn't fit him at all.

For that reason I tend to avoid german voice-overs, most voices just don't fit the characters

Wonder if Sandal's prophecy referred to Fen'haral?  The devs said they just thought Sandal spouting creepy nonsense would be funny, but still.  I want to end a game with, "Dogs and cats are living together, elves aren't dying of old age, and dwarves are now magic." and then play a dwarf mage the next game.  Bonus points if it ends with the dwarf PC showing magic inclination before the credits roll.

I just had the most heartwrenching headcanon. Imagine the Inquisitor, standing strong with all of her people in another battle - because there will always be new wars to fight - but then she ultimately fails and, one by one, her soldiers fall. And then she, too, is fatally wounded, lying dead on the battlefield. (More under the spoiler tag.)

That's when the dread wolf comes, having heard of the raging battle from a few spirits in one of his dreams. When Solas' finally arrives at the scene the horror of it all greets him. He realizes that these people were his former allies because he sees some of them, lying in the dirt, dead. He's afraid and searches for those that survived the battle, but all of the bodies are already cold.

That's when he finds HER. He hasn't seen her in a long time and all of the longing and all of the fear and rage makes his blood boil. He rushes to her side, only to see that she, too is wounded. Blood drips from her face and forms another type of vallaslin entirely. He hopes she is still alive, but the moment he cradles her in his arms all of that fear changes into a destructive kind of sadness and he can't stop himself from crying his heart out.

Because she is dead, but her body is still warm.

And she suffered his biggest fear.

Because she died alone.

I also loved the post in that thread claiming Solas is like a nerd on a forum who constantly corrects people by breaking down their posts and telling them all the ways they're wrong. I don't know why, but that cracks me up. Maybe because I can totally see it.

I'm very intrigued that in the epilogue(I finally got one tonight) everyone was staying, even Cassandra(for a while). In DAO, DAA, DA2 everybody was leaving right away. So it must mean that whatever comes, they're going to battle IT with the same team, minus Solas(boo!). I just don't know HOW I'm going to play an expansion without him in my party.

Though in theory can't everyone leave except for one companion (I've never been able to figure out if that would be Cassandra or Solas) if their approval rating is low enough? Can Blackwall get arrested if you don't romance him (I never did his personal quest on my last playthrough). They could pull a ME and just have something happen at the very beginning of the DLC/new game that means you need a whole new party.

 

Selfishly, I'd love to see them exchange some of the...less popular characters for some old favorites. I like Vivienne and Sera alright, but I don't know what else I'm going to learn about them through DLC. We've travelled with Varric a ton (though I love Varric and he can stay. And bring Solas back early I miss him!

And I just love how literally everything the elves know about each other is, at best, misinterpreted.

 

I don't think it's everything, but mistakes were made nevertheless. We also know that the Dalish address their own limitations on their knowledge; they freely acknowledge they have little idea about who the Forgotten Ones are, or why they were in a war with the Creators, and Merrill even admits that no one in her clan knows which side in the battle at Sundermount summoned and bound Audacity to the totem (which implies that they don't have such a rosy notion of the Arlathan elves to consider it out of the realm of possibility that their ancestors could have summoned the spirit).

Even giving Keeper Hawen's clan the scroll from "The Knight's Tomb" leads to them acknowledging their mistake, since they learn humans and elves were responsible for the inception of the war between the Dales and Orlais, and make a point of acknowledging their mistake and expressing a desire to send an olive branch to the town of Red Crossing that holds tremendous significance for the Dalish.

 

Solas:  So...your tattoos...

 

She kept them.  They may be misinterpreted, but they're part of her clan identity.

 

It was never a choice for me, since my Lavellan was a friend to Solas and not a romantic partner (to no one's surprise, given my avatar) but I would have kept them as well if the option was presented. What it meant during Arlathan doesn't connect to why the Dalish appropriated them: a symbol of defiance against losing their heritage and religion to human rule, after the loss of the Dales to Orlais and the Chantry.

 

Really wanna romance him to anything but an elf now.  If Mythal's chosen can be human, why shouldn't Fen'haral's be a qunari or a dwarf?  If he's a bridge between worlds, why not human?

 

Everyone has their own preference, I suppose.

Speaking of becoming Mythal's Chosen, I really wonder about the significance of drinking from the well of sorrows as a Dalish Inquisitor; having access to that kind of knowledge could unlock untold secrets for the Dalish.
