What exactly did nightmare say to him in the fade and how did he respond? My Elvish is bad

 

It's difficult to translate. The first and last parts are easy but others have said the middle is difficult. Here's what I got when I asked on Reddit.

Option #1:

I just got to this part again, it's actually two separate sentences 'Ma banal enasalin. Mar solas ena mar din' which changes its meaning. What gets me is 'enasalin', since it can be translated at least 3 different ways. So..

'dirth ma harellan' - 'speak my trickster'

'ma banal enasalin' - 'you are not how you appear.'

'mar solas ena mar din' - 'their 'Solas' doesn't exist.' (or possibly that he'll die again)

then yeah.. 'banal nadas' - nothing is inevitable.

always figured if you're Dalish you should know what's being said..

 

Option #2:

The basic gist is that Nightmare is saying that Solas isn't what he appears to be, and that he should really be used to the people he loves dying.

 

 

Still always thought it should've been subtitled in English for Lavellan - she should know the gist of it at least.

The Dalish don't seem to have a full grasp of their language, though.

 

Which is odd, considering Lavellan understands the conversation Solas has with the spirit who was his friend (which was entirely in elvish), or an inconsistency, considering Lavellan can also ask who Mythal is, which makes absolutely no sense at all for the Dalish protagonist.

So I was thinking about Solas's dialogue with Sera... namely, this one:

Sera: Why, you fancy her too?
Solas: I meant that it seems natural that you would desire another elf.
Sera: Hey Inqy, was I jumping you full on, or did I say something about you being elfy?
Lavellan: You were... hesitant about me.
Sera: I know, right? And you're so good! She really is.
Solas: You were that concerned that she was your own kind?
Lavellan: That's personal. Not getting into it.
Sera: He made it a thing!
Lavellan: Quiet, both of you.
Solas: As you would have it.

Sera: Nothing? She's shy like that... point is, I'm with her because she's her, not because she's elfy.

And I'm wondering if Solas doesn't always develop a thing for Lavellan? I mean, assuming they get along alright and his approval isn't crap. When Sera asks if he fancies Lavellan, he doesn't deny it, just evades the question (WHICH HE IS VERY GOOD AT JFC).

If she's romancing Sera, he probably assumes the Inquisitor is either not into men... or at least not into him, specifically.

Does he do this with ironbull/blackwall romances as well?
(i dont see him doing it with a cullen or josephine romance because cullen and josephine arent followers)

Precisely. Even if you make the claim that Dalish aren't masters of the elven language, an elf should still have known or picked up on enough of it that something could have been said. He could have evaded or whatever. Running around in the Fade wasn't the time and place for that sort of discussion, sure, but the option to ask him later, or at least have some indication that you understood the general meaning would have been good. The conversation that could follow wouldn't have to give it away completely.

There was a codex entry posted earlier that implies she knows he's something different, it apparently shows up post-game. So she's not completely in the dark, at least.

In that case i hope there would be a 'whatever you are to others, thats not what you were to me' option.

 

I see it as the middle ground they can achieve. They can never really be part of each other's world, but they their feelings for each other were real.

 

I really want more than this.

I love myself a tragedy, just not when I'm participating in it so actively with a character I made...I hope we get some sort of DA:O Alistair option, where it can become tragic (like when Alistair leaves to become king, dies, or the Warden dies), it can go to a sort of medium-level (where he keeps the character as his mistress and/or stays with the Wardens), or with very specific circumstances can turn out objectively well (like when the Cousland can rule with him). I know that doesn't happen particularly often in Bioware games (looking at you THANE AND JACOB), but I think in the DA franchise they usually strike a balance. I'm just going to be a bit sad if the best we get is, "know that I loved you but nothing is going to change"

The other stuff it was saying was pretty dead-on though. I'd be pretty alarmed if the guy I was dating was called a "trickster" by a DEMON. They must have a pretty high bar for what a trickster is since they're objectively evil...

one of those special orange wheels comes up and one of the choices has the subtitle: "Would you like to continue the romance with Solas? Doing so will plunge all of Thedas into an age of darkness culminating in an endless civil war between the Fade and the inhabitants of the world. You will unlock a special wolf mount." I would select yes. #sorrynotsorry #IWillGoDownWithThisShip #elvenglory.

I think (for science only) that it would be neat that if you played one of your characters as kind of a ****** or ******* who made unpopular decisions the next game could have that old character of yours go full on evil. I don't know how that would even realistically work in a video game but still a cool idea.

I've been trying to write fanfic but it's just coming out porn really so I give up. Lol. I made a new human Mage for my completionist because I'm rushing too fast through my elfy Mage for Solas smoochies. My xbox one had a panic attack during one of his quests and I was going to be mad pissed if all of a sudden I glitched and couldn't complete it.

With drinking from the Well as a central choice for all Inquisitors, and it being directly related to Solas/Flemeth through the geas, I cant see how there wouldnt be a reunion at some point. I mean it would be ressources invested toward all players. Now to hope there would be some romance specific content... thats less certain but DA has been handling things better then ME so far on that side of things.

So let's analyze that passage a bit more, specifically this phrase:

 

When asked if the ring does anything else, she will state that it's a link between two people, it may work in both ways but she cannot confirm whether The Warden can actually use it to sense Morrigan in return.

 

The key wording is of course "may work" and "cannot confirm". Seeing as the Warden in Witch Hunt didn't use the ring to track Morrigan down I think it's reasonable to say that the Warden can not use the ring to track Morrigan at all.

Maybe this is how the DLC / Expansion (if created) can begin? The Inquisitor traveling to the ruins to look for clues, or just to see it for herself. From there, who knows.

I agree: the mark has to be the key. It's the only thing all inquisitors have regardless of their choices. We know the mark can't be removed though (according to Coryphefish). Though I prefer that the Inquisitor find him rather than the other way around.

Bioware pretty much set this up as a given. I'd guess half the players are drank from the well, and since Mythal and Fen'Harel are in the same body now (whoever's in charge), so even if those people don't think its a good idea, they'd be forced to, anyways. People who didn't drink from the well but like Solas could probably be talked into it. The smallest subset of players would be people who both didn't drink, and strongly disagree with this - and I guess he may be forced to kill them - with probably Mythal's influence pushing him to that extreme. 

 

But I've been horribly wrong with predicting their plotlines before, so just watch none of this actually get resolved until DA5 or something ridiculous. Or they'll just have some crazy twist in there that none of us have thought of yet.
