About Solas's final romance card being the Hierophant, I think I saw someone say that he might be the reversed Hierophant? Which, from the little I've read, seems to fit a little better. Though it's not exactly happy. 

 

And ahhhh I miss Mr. Schumacher too! He was such a presence in the early weeks of this thread. Considering the total trolling that was going on and the total wrongness of almost everything we guessed, I can imagine why. I'm sure we were highly entertaining!

Pretty sure you get the tower card if you're not in a romance with solas. I've done two playthroughs, one where I was romancing Cullen but best friends with Solas and another where I romanced Solas. On the Solas romance pt I got the Hierophant, on the cullen romance I got the tower.

This is fascinating.

The Hierophant (aka The Pope) is all about knowledge, maturity, and bridging the gap between humans and the divine.

The Tower is all about ****** **** up.

So what about the Solas romance make it so good for you guys? For me it's pretty much everything:

 

1) The voice acting is just so good. He makes Solas sound intelligent, elegant, and gentle all at once. The contemptuous angry scenes were good too.

 

2) His characterization and story -- he's free spirit and a curious soul. He walks the fade even though most mages are against it due to fear of demon possession. The things that he learned from his travels just makes him seem wiser than everyone else. He's different from the others, but in a good way. And of course

I liked him even more once I found out that he's Fen'Harel himself

 

3) The animations and cinematic - these really set the mood for the romance scenes. His expressions just look so realistic and the kissing scenes are so passionate.

It's a tragedy so you can't have him or help him (at least by the end of the main story). Tragedies always tear at the heart more than other romances.

 

 

and finally....

 

I actually have a preference for mature but nerdy men in real life haha. And all the ones I've dated are on the short and thin side.

I don't recall seeing approval from him for some of these things, and I for sure poked fun at the couple having a tryst. Are these hidden approvals, or was I just already maxed out by that point, I wonder?

I'm guessing you were maxed out. My character argues with him sometimes so it takes a while for mine to build up.

 

I have the guide but they're pretty vague, and I think we already mentioned everything they do for approval. For disapproval, saying you're a "servant of faith" or will "do it for your own power" when accepting the role of Inquisitor, and drinking from the well (note that you don't get approval for not drinking, just disapproval for the Inquisitor doing it). The guide also says that you get disapproval for supporting Briala but I recall the opposite? I know he gave a little bump for saying that she started a war no one could win.

Solas may have only had three romance scenes, but the voice-acting, atmosphere and animation in them were so on point. Those scenes had some of the best work in the entire game!  All of that put together made it feel like there was so much more. Then you think back and realize how little it really was.

Despite the lack of a concrete sex scene (it's left up to interpretation if sexy-times were had off camera, IMO) I think Solas has the most romantic smooches in the entire game.  Totally worth it.  I am sad in my pants that I didn't choose him for my first playthrough as I didn't get to live through the epilogue twist unawares; I could not skip through the credits fast enough to boot up playthrough #2.

Ugh. I know last night I got one in the Hissing Wastes, in the lowest level of the Mountain Fortress Tomb. The last one I found before that was in the Keep in the Western Approach.

 

Those are the only ones I remember off the top of my head.

You know, I didn't really notice that there were few romance scenes, I think because he has so much content that's involved in the main game and those felt as significant.

 

I love the mountaintop, after Haven, when he pulls you aside. This was my first indication that something was going on and that Solas was more involved in the main plot than I thought he'd be.

 

 

Then "scout to the north, be their guide..." Chills! I love it that they both guide the Inquisition to its new home because he's a Fade scout and she's a Dalish scout, used to leading people through the wilderness.

So, compiling locations for Solas's elven artifacts. Not sure if it helps, but aside from the first 2 artifacts in the Hinterland, I've since found one more in the Western Approach in the Still Temple (where time stands still). You can only get it once you cleared the temple though. Clearing it is relatively easy and you do get a very nice unique staff.

Ooooh, I've definitely found Hinterlands, Exalted Plains, Lost Temple of Dirthamen, Storm Coast, and... and Fallow Mire had one, too, right?

 

Can screenshot maps on PS4 and draw circles at their locations. Will upload later tonight.

 

Haven't cleared the other zones yet. Can update as I do (my first playthrough is completionist and, thus, taking FOREVER).
