Further thought on final romance scene:

Aside from wanting to be sure Lavellan KNEW how he felt, part of the reason that he might have had to end it is that she was sure to realize he's an ancient elven god.  Even if she hates Fen'Harel, and thus Solas, he's a god.  He's something she'd want to worship, not someone she'd want to be in a relationship with.  It might have caused their relationship to end once she found out, anyway, depending on the character.

I don't think the old Elven "gods" are anything more than ancient, powerful elves. Solas has hinted he feels the same in various dialogues. As such, I don't think the fact that he is Fen'Harel will prevent their relationship, since no matter his historical importance, he's still just a person. I think his reasons for leaving her have more to do with his future plans, which for whatever reason he believes he must accomplish alone.

Have you ever thought about that it wasn't that bad idea for Solas being bald...I just saw hair in low resolution...and I kind of felt distracted from everything else XD It looks sooooo hilarious. So Solas looks good in low and ultra resolution yay

But yes, I do agree that even so, the Inquisitor had just been in shackles, so her position is precarious at that moment.

I was talking about my character, of course. Anyway I do like that you have a more neutral option that still reassures him. He ends up respecting Cassandra quite a bit.

I love the line where he talks about Cass threatening to execute him and you respond "she's like that with everyone." He laughs and gives a little approval bump. By then it feels like you're all old friends, which is saying a lot for a Dalish elf, an apostate elf and a Chantry "zealot."

Some of those hair styles, while attractive, definitely make him stand out a bit, and perhaps make him look a bit more... devious. Like that concept with the wolf skull (lol). I think the bald head makes him look unassuming, which is always a good idea if you're trying to hide in plain sight.

As much as I love the dreadlocks, I have to agree. If someone showed up wearing a wolf skull on their head, you get a certain impression about them right off the bat.

Agreed, as handsome and wild as it looks it really gives you a certain impression of his character that would have probably tinged expectations far too much and made that final reveal as no surprise to anyone. The dreadlocked version LOOKS the part. The bald nerd does not.

hahahaha omg XD  I'm sooo disappointed there wasn't a chance for Lavellan to "mess" with him by rubbing his head for good luck before a fight lol

The bald was what tipped me off that Solas was 'special' and one of the reasons I thought him suspicious that has really unfortunate implications doesn't it.

Yeah. I don't mind the dreads, but...I just don't think they fit his current self. Perhaps his younger self, but right now he seems very deliberately non-flashy. Part of that is probably because he really wants to stay under the radar, but I also think it's because he wants to get away from his past.

I'm like 99% sure I flirted with everyone I could at least once, and my Solas romance went fine. Maybe if you flirt with someone multiple times it breaks up the Solas romance? Because the more you flirt, the more a romance progresses.

The only exceptions were Dorian (because they were BFFs) and, surprisingly, Harding. When I first went to the Emerald Graves and took the elf-specific option, she seemed so embarrassed at forgetting my heritage for a moment that I flirted with her to cheer her up. After that it sort of became a tradition.

I'm like 99% sure I flirted with everyone I could at least once, and my Solas romance went fine. Maybe if you flirt with someone multiple times it breaks up the Solas romance? Because the more you flirt, the more a romance progresses.

Same here.  On my first character, I couldn't decide if I wanted to romance Solas or Cullen, so I flirted with both.  I actually got both of them all the way up to their first kiss.  I was able to trigger Cullen's, reload just before it, and then do the same with Solas.  I finally decided on Solas... and I'm not sure if that was a good idea, now.    I fell absolutely in love with this character and then he slammed my heart into the floor.  Still, I don't think I can romance anyone else, in my other playthroughs, now.     I'll always go straight for Solas.

Both options are right. I allowed him to remove them once but I might switch that up in a future playthrough. He doesn't hold it against you if you don't.

I did, yeah. I thought it made for some nice character development for me Lavellan. He doesn't get upset if you choose not to, though.

I did. It was a difficult decision, because whatever else it means it did mark Lavellan as one of her people. What made me decide to have them removed is one of the options you can choose says the elves swore never again to submit to slavery, so the idea of keeping the vallaslin was uncomfortable for her. She trusted Solas and his knowledge wholeheartedly, but at the end of the scene she was left more than a little overwhelmed by everything. It was a powerful moment that gave me all sorts of feels, so I can't imagine what was going through her mind.

I love flirting with friends. It's a great confidence booster. XD When Dorian offered to stop flirting with my Lavellan, I picked the option where she was like, "Don't you DARE." and Dorian was all, "Alright then! We shall continue to furiously flirt at every opportunity." (I'm super-embellishing there. His response was more like a simple, "Oh. Well, okay then!") It was great.

 

But yeah. Solas didn't seem to care about me flirting with pretty much everyone at every opportunity - within reason. lol

"Deliberately non-flashy" is a great descriptor. Like when Dorian's quizzing him about his outfit... "That outfit is sorry. What are you supposed to be, some kind of woodsman?!" Solas is purposefully low-key. He puts forth a very specific, unassuming, unthreatening persona. Leliana says that when he joined the Inquisition he surrendered his staff without a fuss. He's also got this banter with Bull,

Solas: I shall take that as a compliment.

Really though, I like to think his choice of fashion is only partly deceptive. I think he genuinely wants to distance himself from his "hot-blooded" youth, as he says.

It's of course up to you and how you wish to roleplay your Lavellan .  There are good reasons for both keeping and removing the vallaslin.

Now I've just finished the Abyss quest, and a few related judgements on my throne, and he's so upset with me that I am not "his friend" anymore, which is making me a little sad. 

 

My question is this: Are there any opportunities for significant approval gain coming up?
