I was a human mage with the Arcane Knowledge perk, and it seemed to me like the game was urging me not to drink it. All that talk of a geas, sinister foreboding abounded! Plus, I took Solas with me, and he was adamant that someone should drink it, but that it was a bad idea overall for me to do so.
It's funny. I have seen a lot of Lavellans who cry on either Dorian's or Cass's shoulder after the deed (the break up kind of deed, not the good kind of deed) is done.

Mine did that until she realized her need to hear more from Solas was outweighing her affection for Cole, so she stopped for fear of using the kid that way.
Hmm, it could be that but I think it goes beyond that. From what I read his problem seems to be, not sure if this makes sense, with the idea of the Grey Wardens, but I could be wrong. For example his whole comment about how the wardens only had "bought [us] some time" seems to indicate that his problem lays more on a conceptual/ideological scale, but I could be wrongI thought the same thing. Why does he care so much about the wardens killing dragons while they sleep? The old gods weren't elven gods. What's his stake in it? Then I thought about it and...

I hadn't seen anyone crying on Cass's shoulder, I guess I missed those people.
Dorian specifically said I was his best friend. So thus I cry on his shoulder. His left shoulder, to be precise. And no one else will have me (Cullen apparently doesn't want to be the rebound guy...), so yea....IT'S NOT CHEATING!
In my head, when Solas finally comes back, Dorian's gonna immolate him.
My human warrior had 25 points in Genre Savviness, and hence refused to drink. This paid off in spades later on, during the conversation with you-know-who in the Fade.
Yup. I had a worldstate with the OGB and allowed Morrigan to drink from the Well. I think that's a great combination, it really makes the scene in the Fade much more poignant from a character development perspective.
I just... stopped playing after the ending. The post-ending state was too painful
Then I started a new Lavellan where I won't finish the game until we get some announcement of DLC

Could be the same problem Morrigan does - the destruction of old magic. He does seem to think (and is probably right, honestly) that killing the Archdemons isn't actually going to stop the darkspawn. He doesn't seem to be good with mitigating factors like "if the Wardens hadn't found a way to stop the Blights there would be nothing but darkspawn left when he woke up."

Can you imagine Dorian, Iron Bull, and Cassandra being super protective of Lavellan? Bull would get her out of the castle and drink with her, Dorian would have her continue studying and offering a shoulder, and Cassandra would loan her...like...every romance novel she owns so she can see happy endings and cry. And Cole would be that sweet younger brother offering explanations, solutions, and encouragement - and maybe even taking her out like she did for him.
