INTP vs INTJ, I find his humour and open mindedness more P? I do tend to mistake INTJ's for INTPs, which is strange being INTP myself. Then I get to know them better and they really are not open minded in the same way, at all. I find find them attractive though, the intellectual battles can be... stimulating!

I think I am leaning more towards INTJ, based on what I know about myself and a friend who's INTP. In contrast to me, my INTP friend jumps around between subjects a lot, and doesn't seem to have a game plan. That might be more individual, but form what I've read that's a lot more common in INTPs than INTJs, who love their plans and strategy.

Edit: I mean, why should we have all the heartbreak. :'( I walked in on Cullen thread hearing people complain that they want a DLC because they didn't think their non-stop smooching option was enough!! I just want to yell "AT LEAST HE IS STILL THERE AND HE LOVES YOU!!!!"

I agree on this point.  He even holds his Quizzy as she looks off into the sunset on the balcony, no fair  :crying:

Yeah I understand why they made Cullen such a sweet, awkward templar boy but part of me wishes he had ended up in a secretly twisted and abusive weirdo...It wouldn't be healthy but it would have been interesting from a storytelling perspective..

As interesting as the storytelling would be, I have to say that BioWare springing SURPRISE ABUSER on people would be pretty wrong of them. In a book, sure, but not in an interactive video game.

Can't blame them for wanting more, I guess. Everyone wants to see more of their favorites. We only really have a better chance of seeing a DLC revolve around our favorite because his story is unfinished as it is. And I wouldn't say we have that great of a chance.

rofl i'm with you there. Not that I don't think sweet and fluffy and adorable is bad (in fact I like domestic antics fluff more than smut) but I remember David Gaider saying at some point too that if Cullen was a romance post-DAO with the female mage!Warden it would be something animalistic or something he wants to get out of his system or whatever but I can't remember where that was posted and since I like trainwrecks that was pretty intriguing to me.

ALSO SOBS FOR ANOTHER ROMANCE SUPPOSEDLY ADDED LAST MINUTE Cullen seems to significantly have more stuff than Solas and Blackwall BOTH who are also straight-only romances. I don't begrudge his fans for wanting more content (I wanted a lot more stuff for Miranda too in ME3 even when my Garrusmance was sailing along beautifully) but _(:'3」∠)_ bioware should have mercy and give some love to the other love interests.

There were... issues concerning him and his original writer. She made a comment that insinuated a fantasy of Cullen raping a female Mage PC. But in my opinion it was blown out of proportion. Be perfectly honest, how many Cullen smut fics are out there that are like that?

Jennifer Helpler? Who wrote Cullen in Origins?

Controversy follows that girl around, I tell you.

Yeah, I just think back to what he said in the Tower quest to a female Amell/Surana (though, I recognize that he was in pretty bad shape at that point)

Sifting through my thoughts.  Tempting me with the one thing I always wanted but could never have.

That, along with his epilogue for mages who picked the autonomy boon for the Circle (whichyesIknowneverhappened), was pretty disturbing for the case of female mage!Wardens.

That said, I'm glad he's grown as a character through DA2 and DA: I.  It shows a lot of inner strength on his part.

Also the Cullen thread has no business complaining. They basically got -every- thing they wanted out of the romance.

Sweetness, nakedness, sex, non-stop kissing, tons of romance scenes, hugs, romance....and a happy ending. And not without a little angst and inner turmoil.

I would have been completely content, had I not met Solas. *sniff*

I have to be honest, this thread is like my little safe haven of the forum.. I step outside into another thread just once and I see so much vitriol. It makes me really damn sad.

I think I'll just contain myself to this thread alone in future.

Yeah you and me both. I have to physically restrain myself sometimes because I have a tendency to call people twits on other parts of the forum. Or worse. :)

It can be, yes. People aren't happy with the latest patch, which is fine, but some take the criticism way too far.

Actually Cullen (and the Magi origin and Broken Circle) were written by Sheryl Chee. Jennifer Helpler wrote Cullen in DA2.

Hence why I REFUSE to believe he and Solas were 'last minute'. Pfft. Last minute, my ass...

Since we're writing Cullen-Solas comparison now, I just thought I'd get it out of my system, too:

- I completed a human Cullen playthrough, and I must say, it's a good romance.

- It does have two scenes that you aren't going to see if you're not romancing him: a beautiful scene in the trees where he gives you a keepsake, and another scene in the chantry(not going to delve deeper into spoiler territory).

- all other scenes are available to you if you're friends(though you aren't getting in bed with him, obviously - there's only one bed scene, though, and very short).

- so you aren't getting that much content compared to being friends. I think looking it up via youtube is a good option, if you don't want another playthrough just for Cullen(even though I tried to be as short as I could and remained at level 15, it was 30 hours).

- you CAN kiss him anytime, but unfortunately, that grows a bit stale, so I'm almost happy we don't have this option with Solas.

- I can't find any fault in Cullen romance, it's good, but I don't _feel it_, unfortunately, and a part of me thinks it's all been done in one piece of fanfiction or another.

- the most beautiful scene with Cullen? After the final battle, everyone smiles at you and he shakes your hand. But if you're in romance, he pulls you close and hugs you. And that's really beautiful. And you get a hug after the end, of course.

- but somehow, I think it's more poignant with Solas. Because imagine, if you were standing on that balcony together, and everything was good... would it be the same?

I'm playing elves-only-Solas-only now with clear heart. Because I just feel the game was written for me this way. :)

That's good to know, Kulyok.

I just really want a reunion of some sorts with Solas.  If for nothing else, a chance to say good bye.  It can't end like that.  I sound like a broken record, but I can't say it enough.

edit: I think part of the reason we feel "cheated" is because Solas, in general, has significantly less scenes than a lot of the inner circle.  Romance or no romance.

I will always love Cullen.

But even when I'm romancing Cullen now- like I am for this playthrough- I still wander to Solas's room and stare wistfully at him.

So if I'm not yet I will be. Soon.

As a Bullmancer as well, I felt a bit cheated in comparison to Cullen's romance. Don't get me wrong, Bull's romance was great in its own way, but I wanted more sex and fluff dammit!

I was planning to do a Cullen-romance but instead I just watched it on YT and it's very sweet and lovely like a warm blanket and hot cocoa. But I get what Kulyok is saying, I wasn't feeling it.  What I love about Solas' romance and why I get why male Lavellans would want him too, is that his romance really turns your Inquisitors world upside down. Whatever happens next, he changed everything, not just in the romantic sense but also her place and that of her people in the world.

Nothing will ever be the same for both of them.

The hug at the very end right after they bow to you (the three advisors) is basically my favorite part of the romance, besides the chantry scene, which I think is very, very beautiful.

I don't know... I personally just don't get the Culle-hype? I never really cared for him in DA:O and DA2 and I don't really care for him now.
Don't get me wrong, it's not that I dislike or even hate his character, because I don't. I think it's great that he got so much character development this time around, and I'm glad for the folks who have been advocating for him as a partymember / romance that they finally got their wish. I can also see the appeal, it's a very sweet, fluffy romance from what I've seen.

I suppose... his whole charm is just kinda lost on me, I guess? It's like so many people are gushing over him, and the devs give him special attention (with that shirtless-riding-a-horse pic and then his cameo in the "Game of the year" - award video?) and I'm just sitting over there, shrugging and going "....uuuuhm... cool or whatever?"

I can't really say why though. Sometimes a character just doesn't do it for me, romance-wise. Was the same with Alistair in DA:O, with Fenris in DA2, Kaidan and Liara in ME, and now Cullen in DA:I. Again, that doesn't mean I don't like the characters. In fact, I love all those stupid dorks to bits and pieces, but they somehow just don't really cut it for me.

Ehh, from everything I've read, it just sounds like Cullen is the "safe" romance option. Perfectly fine if that's what you want. I always go for the angsty stuff though because I like to torture myself apparently.

@Cosmia True enough, we do lack the gameplan, we do however tend to be rebels and a more general goal - truth. And his gift to Levellan is a truth, complete with 'oops sometimes truths hurt people'. He could be either based on the little we know. The fade is also a typical p-thing, truth is not something you can pin down, my impression is that those uncertainties would drive a j insane, while the p would love it. INTPs truths are less nailed down and that is the fascinating part of them. I may be completely wrong and true to my type, fine with that ;)

I might be opening a can of worms by asking this (not sure if this has been asked before), but what are your opinions on Bioware making Solas straight? I ask this because I've seen people complaining (on Tumblr mainly) on how there's no reason for Solas to be straight. Aside from the possibility that Bioware probably had limited resources, I'm not sure how Solas being a straight man should be a problem. (I mean, maybe he just likes women? It happens.) I don't hear people complaining on how Blackwall and Cullen are straight but maybe it's because they're not really under my radar.

I mean, I loooove the Solas romance, and it works well as it is but I just want to know what you guys think if a male Lavellan was able to romance him?

Hehe. I've seen this. I don't know about Blackwall but Cullen is constantly being called racist for not liking Dwarfs or Qunari. It's a bit funny.

I guess I'd be fine with a male romance, ("Seen" a couple of the smuts)  >.>

I think he and Solas are pretty close on the kinkmeme. Though just barely so.

I would say Solas is pretty dominate in Kink Meme,  There's not enough in there of Cullen.  :(
And it's pretty impressive, the game has been out two weeks? Three?  And Cullen has been getting smut since Origin

Oh well, just another ray of light to hope for.
