*Vivienne voice*I highly recommend it my dear!Seriously Boom it's worth it!That's it, I still haven't finished the game so I no nothing about Solas' character arc but is it worth romancing him? Should I do itttttttt? I need you guys to push me in the right direction.
They want to leave the Maker ambiguous so players can decide for themselves, not because they want to declare the Maker nonexistent (or extant, either). I think in doing so they are acknowledging that real-world faith or lack thereof is a very personal thing, and it's something they don't want to tangle with. I can respect that.
I think what they are leading up to is the fact that the "Maker" that the Chantry follows isn't the true "maker", as in, the force that created the world. That force is the "maker" that they will never reveal, because... well, that's impossible, unless you want to get into lame creation stories (I'm looking at you EQ2).

Okay, you guys have convinced me!
Thanks!

Hi.
I've found a new home here in the Solas thread. I romanced Cullen too - twice, actually, and while it's lovely and everything sweet and romantic, Solas is where it's at.

Hi.
I've found a new home here in the Solas thread. I romanced Cullen too - twice, actually, and while it's lovely and everything sweet and romantic, Solas is where it's at.
I, too, came into the game a Cullenite, and while I still adore him I find myself glues to Solas. I think it makes a big difference that you can take one with you on your adventures (and dress him up, etc. Thank Bioware for loden wool which allowed me to put Solas in the Dalish Scout armor). It also doesn't hurt that he's mysterious...
It's curious that I got a very different feeling. My first playthrough was a female mage Trevelyan, romanced Cullen and loved it; but in the end, I got the feeling that Solas had a kind of platonic love or admiration for my Trevelyan. I didn't knew anything about Solas romance or read this thread (which I do every day now, you are all wonderful!), but I got that vibe of "on the thin line between friendship and love", specially during the balcony scene. I was like "Wow, I don't know if he wants to get in her pants, but this guy certainly likes my Trevelyan".
Haha. That's EXACTLY how it went down for me. I always play humans and was like 'Oh I am def. romancing Cullen...LOOK AT HIM". Then up pops Solas. With his soft voice, his fascinating stories, his wit etc. etc. Oh Solas, Solas, Solas. I got 30 hours in with my human and it descended into "WHY WON'T YOU LOVE ME!?" I had to restart as a female elf. Poor Cullen. He never stood a chance.
Just go into the dwarf thread and ask.OGB Kieran says to a qunari Inquisitor:
"I noticed your blood. It doesn't belong to your people."
Kinda... even creepier than what he says to an elf Inquisitor, which is:"No. Your blood is very old. I saw it right away."
EDIT: *sighhh*... Now I gotta make my billionth Inquisitor and have her be a dwarf this time so I can see what OGB Kieran says to a dwarf. Can't find any youtube videos of it. :'(
Yes, IIRC Merrill says that 2 of her clan died because of the eluvian so I believe it's assumed Mahariel died if she didn't become the Warden.I would be curious if they're always there for everybody. Because my first thought was the Dalish origins in DAO and my heart cried out, "Tamlen!" And then I was confused because he came back as a shriek later and attacked the Warden's camp, plus, why would there be TWO bodies... and then it dawned on me that the Warden I imported for this playthrough was my City Elf. So... without Duncan's intervention, is that the potential Dalish Warden and Tamlen dead after touching the tainted Eluvian?
!!!
In his next tweet, PW said you get friendly wolves if you equip the necklace you got from beating the demon controlling the wolves in the hinterlands!
I really hope I didn't sell that...
Is that the "Packmaster" necklace? I always put that on Solas.
You're stuck in one spot while casting, true, but Fade Step is amazing fun. Short-range teleport with a cool misty effect! And if you upgrade it you freeze people if you teleport through them. Which I never get tired of doing.
Arcane Warrior + upgraded Fade Step is flipping amazing. Instant CC and you're right where you need to be to start swinging that light saber.
There really is interactive banter with solas in the prologue? Interactive banter is not just a myth?
150h in my first playthrough and not a single interactive banter.
Playing a elven archer for solas now and didnt get the "Dalish are your people too" banter.
What happens in interactive banter anyway?
The dialogue weel just pops up?
Anyway... SOLAS... just started my second Solas playthrough and my heart is already breaking.
Why didn't I romance him first? Now I know..
:-/
Have a Viv slumming it with an "unwashed apostate hobo."
I don't come here very often as I'm not one for speculation. I USED to be back in the ME2 days, but then everyone's great ideas became a knife in the gut from a silly space ninja so I decided you know what, I'm distancing myself from this right away.
I do however think that since we now have information our inquisitor doesn't re:Solas, she'd have to find it out really early on in any forthcoming DLC. It's one thing to hunt for spoilers online, but to actually be spoiled by the game itself? That shouldn't happen. Unless she rereads her quest journal and discovers that "All New, Faded For Her" is actually an anagram...
My second playthrough, I thought to myself, that's an...odd quest name. OH WAIT.

Yup, Packmaster amulet. I never used it but for some reason I could never stand to get rid of it either. That and the Mercy Crest from that one quest. I feel like getting rid of it is disrespectful. /silly video game feelings
So I finally completed my Lavellan's romance arc with Solas. All that's left is to kill Corypheus. Even though I knew what was coming and had already watched all the videos several times, that didn't stop me from ugly crying when I had the final romance scene. Goddamn it. That moment when he pulls back from the kiss, the love in his eyes that shifts in a split second to utter despair, GOD. I bawled.
I opted to remove the vallaslin, and chose the sad puppy options just so I could hear him say "Please, Vhenan!" So worth it. So many tears.
Now my desktop wallpaper is a gorgeous screenshot of him and Lavellan holding hands as they walk into the grove :3
The bummer point, however, is I CANNOT get the Solas/Cole romance banter to trigger. I've run around for hours and have heard all sorts of other banter, but not that one. I just neeeeeed it to feel complete. Argh.
I also immediately started a new Trevelyan to romance Cullen again because I need a balm to soothe my soul.
Is that the "Packmaster" necklace? I always put that on Solas.
OH MY GOD. I think I HAVE that one still!!!
I don't normally change out accessories once they're on.
