Me too. I'm crying in my Creators-damned office on New Year's Eve. About to go buy some gin and champagne and play through all my Solasmances, and I made another freaking mage! Why do I punish myself???

I feel so many things about Solas.
Sometimes it's like this:
"I love you so much! You're so intelligent! So hott!
"
Or like this:
"I hate you! You suck! F*** Y**" *10,000 punches*
Or like this:
"Haha, Solas is so dumb and cute."
And finally:
"Don't leave meeee! NOooOOoooOOO
"
ROFL"You are so beautiful." Not to mention that ass. What if I...no, why would I ruin my perfect record of making terrible self-destructive decisions now? "...We have to break up now."
also, a conversation i just heard in the hinterlands as we fought off some of the possessed wolves:
cole: do you know a lot about wolves?
solas: i know that they’re intelligent, practical creatures that small-minded fools think of as terrible beasts.SOLAS.
You know Solas, you’re not always very subtle.
I think there's plenty to be optimistic about!
- We know definitively that Solas was not faking his feelings, or pretending to be someone he wasn't. [Mostly]
- He actually did intend to reveal the truth.
- Weekes was also moved by the romance.
- It may not be 'completely over'.
Yes, it is sad and there's that comparison to Mordin. But we were already sad, and nothing is harmed by comparisons to Mordin. That's a lot to be pleased about!
This would be a first.
Personally, I don't think Bioware has the balls for it. I'm calling their bluff.
edit: Wait, there was Thane...
edit 2: And Jacob.
Thane and Jacob *shakes fist*. Though, despite having three games to develop Shepard and the romances, I didn't really think the ME romance arcs were that good for any of the characters. Garrus is the only one that was satisfying for me. The others were all sort of...meh. Overall the DA romances have been much better for me.
And did anyone like the Jacob romance? I know there's a small group of people that liked the way the Thane arc ended, but I've never heard anyone say "man that Jacob romance was THE BEST." A lot of fans were unhappy with both, and the writers (actually, I think it might have been Weekes) said in some panel that one of the things they learned from ME3 was that players don't like feeling like something bad is inevitable, or that they are powerless to affect the outcome of major events. So that gives me hope that they wouldn't setup a romance where we're 100% guaranteed to have a tragic ending.
Very true, but someone had to die. I wonder who would be Solas' Wrex.
Morrigan? I feel like that would make the decision sufficiently difficult. Kill one romance or the other round two (round one was Alistair/Hawke).
Though Wrex doesn't have to die as a result of stopping Mordin right (I know he does if he's still around, but I mean if he dies in ME1)? If he dies earlier then I actually think it seems to make the most sense not to cure the genophage anyway.
So, with it confirmed with Solas going to tell QUizzy the truth about him and instead thinks up the tattoos. I wonder if that's true. At least in the way he put it to that extreme. I mean take a look at Abelas. He had them and would be a "slave" too. But without needing to they've all guarded the temple anyway. To what extent was "slavery"
I assume you could either be a slave, or someone who swears themselves to a "god". Which I think would make sense with "blood writing". Like a "blood oath".
This would also make sense with the translation I made for what solas said to Abelas. "the blood is done". As in the blood oath is done. Abelas' journal about serving mythal seems completely voluntary and dutiful.
I do love how most of us are being optimistic...yes stay on the optimistic train it's Destination is a lot better. ![]()
It... it doesn't mean it has to end like this, right?! Just... give my Lavellan an option to follow him, death, damnation, whatever, I don't care. Ugh, I feel like I'm about to cry, too. Even though it's silly. ![]()
...whatever. Hope never dies!
But what if the choice we face in the sequels is this?
Either kill Solas and stop him from his plans OR side with him, with the price of launching the world into chaos because his changes will be opposed by almost everyone.
You know I am not the type of person who easily becomes a rabid fan of some idol. I can never imagine going to a concert and start squealing because I am in love with the singer or whatever. I never understood that. But for Solas, I think I might actually squeal and act like a rabid fan the next time he shows up in the game.

chaos all the way. I can be shortsighted like that with no regrets ![]()

I didn't like Jacob, and I wasn't even banging him. Can't imagine too many liked the romance. But this is a good point, those romances were minor leveled. The equivalent of Iron Bull's... "romance" at best. Bioware keeping the sads on a major romance that likely will have effects on future events...
Like I said, I don't think they have the balls.
Not sabotage just...postpone. He can cure the genophage later when the galaxy isn't recovering from a mass invasion from god-like supercomputers.
Yeah I wouldn't be happy with it. Not that my unhappiness there means it won't happen...but I agree.
On a related note. Everyone wants Solas back:
I followed you zam, I needed to favourite that tweet ![]()

Well, from a game standpoint they can't ever offer us that choice because it is too huge. Either we'd fail in stopping him, and then decide what to do with him, or we'd never have the option to side with him.

I'm pretty sure the Jacob fanbase fell apart and disbanded after ME3. I remember reading a few angry threads by Jacobmancers after the game's release. I also haven't read anyone saying they were happy with Jacob's romance or saying, "Oh, at least I saw this coming" (since there was nothing in ME2 to suggest what would happen). There were some non-fans defending what happened to Jacob (and Thane), but as for the fans themselves... from what I've seen, nope.
What if the only reason Solas has been able to live this long is because of his extended slumbers?
He has reached "perfection" and I assume he is able to feed off the fade and no longer needs food. And if he doesn't go back into Uthenera he does end up actually dying as a mortal.
I do love how most of us are being optimistic...yes stay on the optimistic train it's Destination is a lot better.
His story has been so sad all along. There's got to be something happy in it, right? Mordin had ME2 to be a character that was not all about sadness. Solas should get the chance too.

Always run off with the crazy apostate. Always.

Let's hope they don't suddenly find a pair.
Let's hope they don't suddenly find a pair.
Well, I don't have any stake in this lol, but if they do find some, then things for Divine Cassandra and quizzy likely won't be too cheery either, and I'll end up having to make my Vivienne divine playthrough canon. So I suppose I'll be hopeful for the rest of you. ![]()

yeah I agree if it's a choice to run off with crazy apostate and other choices I'll always choose Run off with the crazy apostate no matter the consequences.
I found it interesting that he couldn't say whether not there's a Flemeth type situation going on with our favourite Wolf. I just want my apostate back..alive please
.
I'm not sure I actually dare buying and playing any DLC after this. I'm a pessimest, this cannot end well.

At least it's a comparison to Mordin and not to Thane. We can also add:
- Solas is not a straight-evil character (like there was any doubt here)
- Solas does what he believes is morally good (whether or not it would be objectively good is a different matter)
