It looks like it's dependent on which way you go with the the questline.  I got the middle as have others who went the Mage route.  Those that went the Templar route got the blood one..

OHHHH.  I think I get it.  A reference to the balance of generative Earth/Sun, physical/fade elements pointing to the Templar/Mage split for both humans and elves, a dragon blood reference for Qunari, and the disconnected Earth reference for Dwarves.

If that's how it is, that's potentially really interesting for what it says about elves.  I thought they were fundamentally different, but maybe... not... then.  Maybe when the veil went up, the physical and the fade wasn't a split, but a necessary... joining?  No.  Yes.

No, I don't like it.  That theory is terrible.  I think.   Ugh.  I have to think more about this.

So, humans, dwarves and Qunari get unique lines, and elves only get an unique one if they side with templars, otherwise they get the human one?

So is the Elf - sided with mages the same as all of the humans or do humans have different lines based on who they side with? If the former, maybe it's an error and elves are always supposed to get the elf - sided with templars line. Who would be the person to ask about that? Cole's writer? Weekes? I know they have plenty of bugs to deal with already but why not add one more xD

Purging the alienage isn't the worst thing Celene did to Briala while they were still lovers.  Just to let you know.

It is possible to reconcile the two of them (you need to find the elven locket and show it to both Celene and Briala, then you can encourge them to get back together again.  I was a bit uncertain about doing this due to the horrible stuff Celene has done to the woman she claimed the love, but I figured my Lavellan doesn't have the meta knowledge I have.  It actually works out pretty well: their relationship is on a more equal status, and Briala is aware of everything Celene has done and willing to go back into the relationship).

ugh Celene is really pretty awful in TME. Even her motivations for helping the elves are selfish. I did put Celene + Briala though because I hadn't read the books yet and didn't realize that

Spoiler

There is a way to reconcile all three of them though, correct? Gaspard and Briala are actually my favorite, I just think Gaspard's politics are awful and that he wouldn't be good for the empire in the long-term.

There is, but the epilogue all but states it'll end in a new civil war.

I feel like Dagna -- staring into something that I don't have the cultural context for and simultaneously understanding it and having no idea what the hell I'm looking at. Solas understands everything Cole says because he has thousands of years of knowledge concerning magic, the fade, spirits, etc. He knows what Cole is referring to so he's matching it with information he already has. We're trying to build context using these lines and it's maddening.

I hope whatever comes to pass in the game lives up to the awesome structure they're building here :D

Why so many people hate Fiona? Did I miss something?

Ugh mmm well.. It's complicated. It depends on who you ask. But if connecting to the game, her decisions have known to be bad. Like her placing her people under tevinter slavery when she was once a slave herself.

Yea, by making all three rule you are just putting the civil war on pause. Which is probably why they made sure to have the point be made that there needed to be a clear winner at the end of the Ball.

GUYS , I think I have it!

It doesn't matter if you side with the templars or mages, it matters if you are a mage or warrior/rogue.

I can't prove it right now , but I think this is what makes the coversation diferent.

liz , is your Lavellan a rogue/warrior btw? Mine is an archer.

So they just gave her pointy ears in her mosaic as a symbolic "one of us" gesture?

It's possible that Mythal was a human woman and not elven.  In The Masked Empire art of Shartan is allowed to exist only if his ears are altered to make him look human.  And adapting relgious figures to fit your own culture exist in our world (look at all the art that depicts Jesus as white, for example).

She's pretty useless >< She's all "yea I used to be a grey warden but now i'm not and no one knows how it happened". Like seriously? That's a freaking huge thing. Her whole deal with Alexius was beyond dumb. She just hangsout in Skyhold and does nothing at all. Really everything about her annoys me.

Someone described this as putting a lid on a boiling pot and yeah that about sums up the work together route imo.

With the information the game gives you I'm happy to help Celene and Briala get back together.

I was just going ask which class everyone was playing! My mage got the "mindful, meaning" line and my warrior the blood one.

Fiona put the mages into indentured servitude out of desperation.  She believed the templars were coming to kill them.  It was a no-win situation, and she was responsible for all the lives under her leadership.  She also had time magic working against her.  Fiona clearly knows she's screwed up, I could only sympathize.  My Lavellan just wanted to help get them out of that mess.

Ohhhh! Guys! What if - like Cole states - they are unable to dream because their cord had been cut - what if that had been done out of necessity? What if they had stumbled upon the Blight first? It was the only way to cut themselves off from the taint and corruption! If one of them got infected, the whole Titan did!

.... :o

<3

Shite.  That's not the how and why of the severing that was in my head, but now it is.  Not the stumbling into blight thing- I think it was known, it wasn't an accident, but...

Shiiiiiite.   Give me a second here.  Too many concurrent threads, processor overloading.

Boo. I just want them to get along! Maybe rule as a tribunal, I dunno. Celene's the best politician but the worst person ugh ugh.

I don't buy this. It seems like Mythal and Fen'Harel were gods with physical manifestations. Did Mythal just take on an elven shape? That seems silly. I don't think there's any reason to think she wasn't an elf until someone says otherwise.

Was a mage and got the "mindful, meaning" line.

Do other races have multiple lines though?

Ah! Thank you for your reply! :3 I thought I missed something since I didn't form an alliance with the Templars.

I've only gotten the "reach across, mindful" line with my mages.
