Wonder how many Solavellan's did Thanes romance.

/eyes you masochists

Because I hate the thought of cheating more than just about anything, Because they promised it would be worth it...Kitty Shepard stayed loyal to Kaiden.

But I remember sitting there with Garrus in ME2 and being sorely tempted. Soooorely tempted.

Luckily, I didn't pick up ME3 until they fixed some of the lack of cozy content, but I was still rather unhappy that staying loyal meant all of practically nothing to Kaiden, considering that a fresh-off-the-ship Shepard, and even a Shepard who did not stay loyal could achieve the same result as one who waited two damn games for him. That was five years of real life wait time, lest anyone has forgotten. It sorta puts Fenris's 3 year in game hiatus to shame don't it?

Let's not do that again, Bioware. Please. Make the wait worth it. Those super story reasons, right?

I know. That seems to be the more popular choice. (I'm always in the minority! AH!)

I also drank from the Well though, so that's three strikes against my Quizzy. (Loves Dalish, drank from the Well, kept vallaslin.)

At least our characters have something to blame the breakup on, sad as it is. I can only imagine how it would feel to a player who approval-mongered all game. Their Lavellan (almost) always made decisions Solas liked, agreed with him on everything, dumped the Well on Morrigan and removed their vallaslin, and everything was going perfectly... until he broke up with her for no reason. I'm sure "WTF DID I DO???!!!" wouldn't even begin to cover how those poor players felt.

Again, it makes sense to the player when we see the post-credits scene, and I guess the Inquisitor can infer the slightest incling that there's more going on than Solas will admit to right after the final battle with Corypheus, before he disappears, but still...

This happened to me...and it hurt...much more so since I literally had nothing to blame it on or say that decision was the breaking point...:(

DragonRacer, I wish I had the right words to adequately express how deeply touched I was by the emotional truth of your post.  Loss such as what you've experienced takes philosophical questions like these to an entirely different plane of thought that most of us have never known.  I have a relative about whom I dread receiving a similar phone call, but so far the call hasn't come.  You have my sincere empathy as the anniversary of your mom's passing draws near.

As you mentioned, Flemeth isn't sure if it's fate or chance that decides things.  On the other end, Solas declares that nothing is inevitable.  Like all fundamental questions involving the human condition, even in the story of a videogame, I suppose it just depends on each person's point of view.  Maybe it's that these questions still get asked through the ages that connects us all, no matter when our time is.

Sorry to get so existential on everybody.  I think it's a credit to the incredibly woven story of Dragon Age that we're even touching upon these topics.  For me at least, it gives the story so much more meaning.  I find it nearly as satisfying to read the lore crafting and philosophy musings on this forum as actually playing the game.

People have a remarkable ability to outright ignore flaws in a person they love, or dismiss weirdness. I don't like the fact that flirting and finding out new information seems to be mutually exclusive in Solas' romance. I understand some is due to resources. I can also understand that as a god with a guilty conscience and a thousand secrets, he's be totally ok with not having to explain himself or things and  just pretend he was kind of normal. For awhile.

Solas was working under the assumption that this business would be wrapped up in Haven, he wouldn't need to give the Inquisition Skyhold, that he wouldn't need to continue this "i'm a simple apostate" charade. Instead things go to ****, and there's this constant voice of fear in the back of his mind about what would happen if Lavellan found out who he is, if she pushed hard enough for answers, or if he trusts her enough to reveal who he is.

That's a lot riding on his shoulders, even if he wasn't romanced by a Lavellan. Add in the emotional entanglement. You can infer how it would get worse for a man desperate, despairing, and fearful of the consequences of his actions 1000 years ago playing out.

Just another question, that keeps buzzing in my head: how exactly was Coryphysh vaporised? Was he dissolved? Empty-spaced into the Fade? And why did it leave the foci utterly destroyed in the process?

I didn't even get that choice. When we first arrived and I was talking to Morrigan before going make my way to the temple Morrigan says we were near the temple of Mythal and my character was all like "which is?"... -_- I mean it's not the worst response ever... but it was annoying for her to say that.

Yeah, I didn't get a choice either. That was kind of annoying.

So this is a funny story I was walking with my phone out and trying to balance my bag and my jacket and the above was what I accidentally typed.

Something about an egg werewolf.

My first playthrough was a Solasmance and I currently haven't completed the game with a non-Solasmancing elf.  What did I miss?

Not MUCH - but with a friendly Inquisitor you'll end up picking talk options where you can enage him more thoughtful dialogue.   So you end up learning more.  Then at the end your Quizzy is more apparently clued into the fact that he's up to something.

I had Alistair, Fenris, and in ME Kaidan. I would have gone with Garrus, but the two other friends of mine who also played it had romanced Thane and Garrus, so I just stayed with the spare, for the sake of it. Also; my Shep happened to *like* him. Terrible, I know, but Garrus was her buddy, no way to start something else there.

That means it's the first time for me picking THAT romance option. And here we are. Sigh.

As for Lavellan knowing: I can imagine my Lavellan fighting with all the suspicions in her head, and then locking them away, telling herself: NOPE. It just can't be. Then after he left, she was forced to realize, and it hurt.

Poor baby.

Really confused on the fade scene, Since he says something like "Lets go somewhere else." Then you are in the fade, and Inky is going "wowhah we are in the faddee" and you wake up in your bedroom.

But another chat option has him saying you sought him out?.. Somehow? Why was he suddenly sleeping, Why are you in Haven. How do you contact him as a non-mage like that?

That is super confusing to me.

I'm still catching up, so someone else might have said this already.

I think the start of the conversation, in the rotunda, is already the Fade.  You sought him out in your dream.

edit: HAHHAHAah yeah I see now a bunch of people answered that.  Sorry.  Serves me right!

Have a Solas so this post isn't a total waste :P

We opened a rift inside him... and then... *shrug*

The inquisitor closed the rift by literally levitating it to the core of it and after it closed the thing fell all the way at high speed and smashed to the ground? or...wait..did they catch it..I kinda forgot.

The Inquisitor opens up a rift inside him and it tears him apart they then use the orb to close the big rift and that breaks it. Or they absorb it's power and using it to close the rift breaks it, I'm not sure which.

Maybe some of this will be dialouge that will be patched in?  I'd rather not romance him and be intelligent, if that's the case (but the only other people my Lavellan are into are Cass and Sera and one is straight and the other will end up dumping her).

She kinda dropped it and it broke, which annoyed me a little bit tbh..the way she just dropped it like it was nothing.

Kelly Clarkson is my favorite female vocal artist ever and I don't care who knows it. That said, I'd never heard this song before this day. Now it will be a part of my rhapsody playlist forever, and it will always make me think of Solas when I hear it. So when someone catches me sitting there with headphones on looking like this:

I'm telling them it was all Zarro's fault.

Ahaha, this was me--people in the spoiler group were asking me if I didn't have high enough approval with him or something when I came back and told everyone that he broke up with Lavellan/left at the end (I finished the game in ~40 hours). Cue me basically saying: "No, you don't understand, I literally did everything he approved of*. There is no way to have him stay. :("

*Excluding one or two dialogue options, maybe. It was actually really weird--I've never had a companion approve of pretty much everything I do before... And I didn't base my decisions on what he wanted, either, we just happened to want the exact same things somehow. That probably won't ever happen for me again. :/a

I always saw it as my Lavellan having a ton of doubts, especially after Mythal's temple and the way Abelas acted toward Solas, but not wanting to push him and really hoping he would come to her with his secret once he felt ready. In my headcanon, she's half-convinced he's an ancient elf and tries to confort herself with the fact those were immortal beings who had all the time in the world so rushing him wouldn't give any result. I think she told herself all of this to try to keep her worry that he'd be leaving her at bay. *sighs*
