i have all the dlc :) but i was thinking wood elf mage or do you think high elf better?

You could do that. I just suggested high elf because you get more magick points to start out with.

And midnight tea has a good point about the elven glory pride the high elves have.

Well....Solas himself says that it has been a long time in conversation after the fade date. what does long time mean to an immortal? That's the real question.

I took that to mean that Solas once had other lovers before he sealed away the gods and went to sleep... He does imply he led a wilder youth, after all. But there was probably no one else after he woke up. How could there be? He was tormented by what had become of the world and his people, a fate he blames himself for.

Friendships with spirits aside, Lavellan seems to be the first good thing that's happened to him since waking. A good thing he doesn't think he deserves and is frightened of destroying the way he did everything else.

(Also, I can't be the only one thinking there's no way in hell Solas looks 40? Cullen looks older than he does. Though I guess if he's immortal, the age the writers pick for him is somewhat arbitrary.)

I don't think Solas would do that either but then my curiosity was piqued.

At first I thought his relationship with Wisdom was just a deep friendship. Then later on Blackwall grills him about sexy fun times in the Fade and I thought that maybe something did go on. But then I thought nah, Solas wouldn't take the risk of corrupting a spirit. But perhaps his friendship with Wisdom went beyond platonic, just no sex involved. I really wonder if "there are considerations" also included distancing himself from Wisdom.

I don't even know if I want to know but my curiosity sometimes gets the better of me.

I've had similar thoughts about this. I think Solas very obviously did love Wisdom. Maybe just not the same way he loves Lavellan. I don't think they were in a "relationship" as much as they just meant a lot to each other. I feel like he confided in her more than anyone and when she was gone, he really felt her loss.  :crying: Ugh! I want to keep Solas in a bubble to keep him far away from tragedy! And, y'know...to make out with him whenever....don't judge.  :)

Oh look, art!

This maybe blasphemous of me to say, but immortality is the one aspect of the Elvhen, I've never liked. *don't throw eggs....clean shirt.* I get that they are not meant to be viewed as "unkillable", or any such thing (obviously, since we know that some had been killed in Uthenera - throats slit - and Mythal was "murdered".....sorta  ). However, I am not fond of entire races being immortal. Would personally love if it turned out that a combination of an extensive life (say, living 500 to 1000 years, as a normal life span), combined with a form of statis (i.e. Uthenera), is what gave the perception that the elvhen were immortal.

I know, I know....it won't happen, and I just have to deal. LOL! It is, what it is, at this point. Meh. Just my own views. Here, have a Solas - Dragon's Dogma style. ;)

Spoiler

If you have the time to power up your range class by killing goblins and harpies for 15 hours more power to you. I spent way to much of my time leveling up my mage in that game to never touch the story or finish it. It also didn't help that you had to rent a party that never leveled up.

... Since this day is kind of boring and I haven't been feeling well, I returned a few pages to re-read some comments and been thinking a bit about what actor we know of could be playing Solas in hypothetical live-action movie. And I think I know who would be close to perfect (NOT ideal in a sense that they're very similar, but with enough of similarities in proportions and facial structure that with a bit of effort of characterization team, we could have a really nice IRL version of our favorite bald apostate hobo)

Ladies and gents, I give you Paul Bettany:

Spoiler

Just look at those low-hanging, straight brows, hooded, gray eyes, prominent nose and tapering facial structure. Also, freckles :P

So do you all think that Solas shaves his head to hide the shame that he is one of the rare elves to have male pattern baldness?

I see him easily as 40+ (appearance wise, since we know he's older than dirt  ).

As someone over 40 (will be 46 next month), it really does vary from individual to individual. I still occasionally get carded (though not sure if simply the policy of the individual store, in some cases, or less than stellar vision from the cashier  ).

If you dare to look, here are two shots of myself (I rarely have my picture taken cuz....yuck :P ). One is at 42 and the other at 43. Whether I look that old or not, it isn't uncommon to guess "age" when people are closer to your own. Hence why I buy Solas as looking 40 and up. (I say that like he is a living person. lol!)

People who are 40 don't look weathered and gray and old unless they've been living a really hard life or had a truly unlucky roll of the genetic dice. Mostly you can just tell someone looks matured, as in, not 20something. In my experience, it's only as you creep up towards 50+ that the age thing really becomes apparent. So yes, I can easily believe Solas is in his 40s as far as appearance is concerned.

And well... elvhen genes might mean you look good for centuries, whereas Cullen has another 15 years or so to really rock the good looks of virile youth. :P

Considering he's a recovering drug addict and had Meredith as a boss, Cullen looks fine:lol:

I see Solas as looking like healthy living 40ish elf as well.

Seriously? You look like you're in your 20's. :o

I do sometimes get mistaken for being younger than I am... Usually at really embarrasing moments. (Though that's more because I'm short rather than looking very young, I think.) I was recently on an interstate school music tour with the Senior Jazz Band. While we were on the train I was talking to an older couple, telling them where we were from, why we were there, explaining what our music program was like and so on. They then asked me what year I was in.

I'm a teacher.

At least the students got a laugh. <_<

Bruh!! One doesn't play DD for the story! Combat, loot, CC, dressing pawns in silly outfits, and getting it on with awkward love interests. ;)

That is bloody fantastic! :D

And lets just say, when I am not working, I act like a perpetual 20 something. (At least that is how my husband might describe me.) Now if only my body would act like a 20somethingyearold. Stupid plantar fasciitis, bad hip/knee, rotator cuff, blah-blah-blah (*beetch/moan/shake-fist-at-world*).

I should admit, I followed up that comment about being mistaken for a student by joining the kids in an hour-long Mariokart DS tournament. I guess I'm not as far removed from them as I probably should be.  :P

I seem to have developed a reputation as 'that teacher who plays games and sings really well,' if their stories are to be believed. Now if I can just find the time to arrange 'The Dawn Will Come' into three-part harmony for my choir... I'm in love with that song. DAI has such a fabulous soundtrack.

I think if Solas really wanted to he could grow a full, thick head of luscious flowing locks.

But even if he was balding at least he's trying to make the best of it. Either way he's still smexy!

:D I knew a teacher who discreetly let students sneak in some consoles and use the projector to play MarioKart. (We'd finished our trig finals, by God. We needed a break.) He stood by with his cup of coffee snarking and helped sabotage the students that were always talking during class.

What I've noticed is that people who draw him with hair usually draw them straight... and what if they're really curly? :D

That's alright with me! :D I have naturally wavy/curly hair. It takes a little more care and maintenance. So if Solas' hair is naturally curly, I can see why his concept art has him with cornrows/dreads.

.....maybe the dreads are the reason why he's called the Dread Wolf in the first place ;D

This is wonderful....but am I the only one who wants to know whether Solas ever actually....had hair??? :o

I didn't think anything of it in my first playthrough because he's supposed to be 40. But now whenever he's onscreen I just squint at him like.... "What you're saying is very interesting, but were you always bald?" Was he born that way, does he prefer life free of high-maintenance hair, or is it a side effect from your physical body being in stasis for >1,000 years?! I must know.

Could be that as someone who spent his youth trolling those in Uthenera by shaving their heads, he knew better when he started to study it and decided to deny any bright spark who might attempt to sneak into the chamber and do the same thing to him.

Then after the fall of Arlathan, with no-one to tend for him while in that state, he decided that he didn't want to wake up to find centuries of droppings in his beautiful dreadlocks, having become home to generations of nesting birds or doormice. Better bald than look like Radagast the Brown.
