People who are 40 don't look weathered and gray and old unless they've been living a really hard life or had a truly unlucky roll of the genetic dice. Mostly you can just tell someone looks matured, as in, not 20something. In my experience, it's only as you creep up towards 50+ that the age thing really becomes apparent. So yes, I can easily believe Solas is in his 40s as far as appearance is concerned.
And well... elvhen genes might mean you look good for centuries, whereas Cullen has another 15 years or so to really rock the good looks of virile youth.

i have all the dlc
but i was thinking wood elf mage or do you think high elf better?
If you have the game for PC there's some really good mods that bring back a class system. Makes it easier to make a magic based Bosmer or rogue!Altmer. Could be handy for making Bosmer!Solas.
I've had similar thoughts about this. I think Solas very obviously did love Wisdom. Maybe just not the same way he loves Lavellan. I don't think they were in a "relationship" as much as they just meant a lot to each other. I feel like he confided in her more than anyone and when she was gone, he really felt her loss.
Ugh! I want to keep Solas in a bubble to keep him far away from tragedy! And, y'know...to make out with him whenever....don't judge.
I fully support the makeout protection bubble.
Yep, that's what I chose because it was hilarious. He's all cute and flustered.
I think Alistair never left my party. I always keep my LI around in my party anyway so after choosing him he just stayed.
Alistair is always in my party when I romance him because I'm either a mage or a rogue. Squishy wardens need protection from their warrior bf (until my Surana becomes an arcane warrior that is...)

Yes! well, yes to the first part. I don't know about the second part -- in my eyes it's because 'reasons' entail they have to get permission from the department before they can affirm anything. Cause they kind of speak for the company in a weird way. You know? That's why -any- info mined from devs should be considered to apply only to content already live (unless otherwise stated). I think they tease us in the ways they can, though. The lack of DLC anything is a bit frustrating. It's true that they don't owe us anything, but FFS. Surely there has to be more to the story than what we got with all that epic world building they did.
I just wish we could know that they are working on something for sure. I wonder what they mean by the whole "can't say anything for legal reasons" thing. Is that because they announced an expansion at one point that ended up canceled, or what?
They have been dropping all of these dwarves and Deep Roads things lately and it would be a bit disappointing if it turns out to only be multiplayer. I thought, based on timing, we'd see some kind of SP DLC announcement by July but we have just a week to go. So I don't have any more estimates. ![]()
I did just find the cutest mashup fan art.
And a Solas one http://shira-chan.de...-Time-504417468
There was a comment from I think Mark Darrah or Mike Laidlaw a while ago on Twitter, I think, about legal reasons because announcing something could equate to an agreement to deliver it, so they won't announce until everything is completely certain. So yes, likely caution from the canceled expansion.
I just finished my artwork of Professor Solas.

Quiz: Hello Professor Solas.
Solas: Miss Lavellan.

Solas: I told you I can't give you a retest.

Solas: No, but I can help you on your extra credit assignment (pushing everything off the desk in one motion).
RRRRRRRRRRING RRRRRRING!
Quiz: Oh! Not again!
Dorm mate: Turn that thing off!

Spoiler
Somewhere Solas is asking Lavellan where his sandals are, while Leliana is Val Royeaux's fashion district trying to get a pair made out of white leather with studs that look like nightingales.
I can't give it more than one like, so instead I'm quoting it. That's hot! <fans herself>
I can't stop wondering what it was that woke up Solas. Was it Mahariel and Tamlen? Was it the slaying of another Archdemon? Morrigan? Briala? I wonder how long he was awake before Inquisition. I'm going absolutely crazy waiting for DLC.
@Ser-Lurk - I have wondered this myself. I have a theory it was Mythal. So when Hawke goes to the mount to resurrect Flemythal in DA2 and Hawke asks 'why bring you here', she responds that "I have an appointment to keep". There is weirdness and eclipses around Kirkwall and the reference to Fen'Harel when he woke up which is about the same time Hawke was in active in Kirkwall. I think she woke him up to start the ball rolling. And I think he was actually asleep nearby.

Doesn't the Talis web serise focus on a Fen'Harel related ritual on the Sundermount? I don't know much about it, or how canon it is though.
Inquisitors Week has been rather productive for me in terms of character development for my cannon Quizzy, but I have totally lost track of the discussion here.
So does anyone have the Cliffnote's version?
@Illyria - maybe. I will have to check it out but this would also require me to watch the Talis webseries and care about Talis...which is a difficult task. (not to offend if you like her)
I remember reading that the whole Talis web series thing isn't canon..but of course I don't remember where I read this.

Well, if Mythal woke Solas up, she must've been very discreet, considering that when we take Solas to Temple of Mythal he seems surprised by both her Sentinels still living as well as Mythal still enduring...
Yeah, I've always wondered who Mythal's appointment was with. Solas is a possibility for sure, though that just leads to the larger question of why- both in terms of a purpose for the meeting and the fact that it seems unnecessarily risky, given that (assumedly?) the two could contact each other at will via the Fade. It also begs the question of who Mythal was trying to out-maneuver by using Hawke as transportation. Too early for Corypheus, no other known active Pantheon, Morrigan wasn't a serious threat...
Who would Mythal fear enough to bother going to the trouble?
Anyway, my own totally baseless hunch is that the group responsible for watching over / waking Solas was Felassan's "tribe". Felassan's Fen'Harel fanboy connection was pretty suggestive to start with, and leading a small group of Halamshiral-era elves dedicated to tracking the events of the world and pulling strings when and where they can make a difference seems in line with F'H's general tactics. The question then, of course, is that if that's true, why did they choose to pull out the Big Guns -Solas and the orb- now? Word from Those Across the Sea? Rumors of Corypheus' re-appearance? The magrellan fiasco? ![]()
Well, personally I don't have any theories, though I DO wonder what Cole mans, when he says to Solas (in banter that occurs after his personal quest and loss of spirit of wisdom): "Your friend wanted you to be happy, even though she knew you wouldn't be."
I've also heard that the Talis webseries isn't really canon, but it features the mask of Fen'Harel which is capable of tearing the veil (it is used on Sundermount). Maybe they did get some bits of lore from the DA writers, because linking Fen'Harel and the fade by chance before DA:I would be quite the achievement.
Also, I replayed DA II recently and didn't witness an eclipse. Yes, it got really dark, but the sun was visible behind a curtain of dark fog at the Docks. It might have been the moon... but the explosion happened during daytime.

He makes mention of Flemeth's empty cottage and it seems like he may have been searching for her. I don't know if he was surprised Mythal endured though, especially with the bit about "she might return"

Solas is very reflective, regretful, feels responsible for many things, has been betrayed, and seems to have suffered loss, and it's possible this could've simply reflected his more melancholic side. Especially if he had to mercy kill an old spirit friend and lose one of his few deep connections that accepted him as he is.
If anyone wants, the wiki does a good job with Redemption summaries, which is faster than watching it: http://dragonage.wik...Age:_Redemption

*snip*
He mentions the hut, but we don't really know in what context. He may have been lured by power or dreams or else - who knows? All I know is that when we enter the last chamber in ToM and Solas sees the Well, he whispers "So Mythal endures..." with what seems to be either amazement or relief in his voice.
Then, after ToM (and no matter who drank from the Well) we get Sera/Solas banter during which she notes that Solas is "all fluttery" ever since the events in the Temple. Obviously they've found something there he did NOT expect.

I do like Talis to an extent. I think she had the potential to be a much better character than she turned out to be. If MotA had actually let Hawke argue with her about the Qun rather than letting her get the upper hand in every converstation I would like her a lot more. And I have no real wish to watch the serise either. But the wiki gives a recap.
