He welcomes you to the Solas hell spiral!
My cat is a demon prince. It is your honor to feed him, to pet him, and to clean his litter box. Problematically my sister and her kids just moved in with us and her one year old is a spoiled little prince. Naturally they have clashed. There have been power insurgencies, blood has betrayed blood, wars have been waged.
Right now the one year old appears to have the upper hand, but I believe Sebastian is just waiting in the shadows, biding his time for the perfect time to strike.
Do you think foxes have the same symbolic meaning they do here in Thedas? The Dread Wolf seems to have taken the role of the cunning figure in myth, but that's for the Dalish...
I picture my Lavellan as a bird of prey or a raven or crow (crows are awesome one of the smartest animals on earth thou shall not judge them!)
I wanna know what if any significance foxes have to the Dalish. o/
If we're going outside the cat-box, my Lavellan is a wolfhound through and through. My Hawke is the bird of prey or corvid (phoenix if I get to be mythical and ****)!
Wut
What's with all the cat pics? What did I miss??

Pretty much Solas-related:

This is a weird one to pick! Not that it isn't great, because it is. I just don't see people single it out very often!
*is not going to admit she spent too much time in Calenhad Docks/Wounded Coast to hear that piece* ![]()
What can I say, I just love it ![]()

Ha, wolves are just usurpers
Foxes waited in shadows, biding their time for the perfect time to strike and reclaim their place as the most mischievous creatures of them all ![]()
I love this thread! Although I seriously question whether or not you guys are helping me get over Solas feels or just feeding my addiction!
You're not allowed to leave. If you try I bring you back

Yeah! Maybe not for the Dalish because the Dread Wolf takes the place of the clever animal archtype, but what about other Thedasians? Do you think the clever wolf character would of bled into other cultures? Are foxes always seen as the clever animal even in different places around the world? Maybe they would of been the clever animal too then for the Dalish.
Yeah, the halla symbolism is cute, but my Lavellan ain't no pretty doe. She's a hunter herself!

I hate cats.

Solas, why do you do this too me??

I thought earlier, "hmmm I wonder what we were all doing this time last year", and I got sad... well, sadder, it's not just Solas feels anymore, it's whole DA:I and endings feels...

We do have a bit in the lore on wolves to cultures other than the Dalish:
"The wolf was the most sacred of all the creatures worshipped by Alamarri. They believed it was created by the gods to be both a guide and protector for mankind. Promising young warriors were paired off with cubs, and wolves were honored as much as the greatest fighters when they fell in battle."
On wolves in Ferelden,
"It is rather unfair, the reputation that the wolf possesses in Ferelden. For a people that so clearly adore their hounds, Fereldans simultaneously harbor a distrust of wolves that borders on the unreasonable. Unreasonable, that is if one were not familiar with the ancient legends regarding werewolves. There was a time in Ferelden's past when demons inhabited the bodies of wolves in great numbers, causing the wars against werewolves and spreading great fear and panic. The werewolves were slain, but even today the noble wolf is still looked upon with distrust."
"Hafter, the first man to be named teyrn, the hero who united our Alamarri ancestors to drive back the darkspawn of the second Blight, was reputed to be the son of a werewolf. Now, perhaps this was meant to be some comment on his temperament, or simply a way of making a great man even larger than life. But more than half the noble families of Ferelden claim to be descendants of Hafter, and consequently, many of our people believe they have some distant kinship with wolves. It is only good manners to be polite to one's kin."
Pffft
Is this a challenge?
I got pictures of my cat when he was but a kitten, a week or two after we took him and his brother from a shelter.

Moarrrr here:
They were very dirty when we took them in, but so cute.
My cat has grown to be a fat and very beautiful cat, he looks like a Maine Coon with medium fur length.
I confess that I don't know cat breeds very well. My boyfriend has a calico who has hated me with the red hot fiery passion a cat can muster for as long as I've known her.
My Lavellan is a hunter, elves are small.....dachshund? ![]()
edit: ToP (from DA Confessions)

What an adorable kitty, Shari'El.

I'm sad that DAI is done as well. I'm finishing up my final two characters and I think I'm done for awhile. But, I'm looking forward to other games coming out.
I'll play Fallout 4 in November; it's not my favorite series but I heard that they are trying to improve the narrative and make the companions deeper. There will also be romance. It's funny, Bioware looked to Bethesda for exploration in their games; I have a feeling Bethesda is looking to Bioware for story and character development.
After that, I'm looking forward to Mass Effect:Andromeda and, then, the new Bioware IP. At some point during this time, a new Elder Scrolls and Zelda should be out. Hopefully, by the time I'm done with all those games, DA4 will be around the corner!
I'm super late with this, but tiny personal writing-related post incoming
Spoiler
When I started typing this, the Cat-Inquisitor thing was still happening on the thread, so here's my Lavellan:
It's funny how many of us had a sort of random near-panic moment where we just doubted ourselves, sometimes maybe due to our work or studies, sometimes due to life.
But one thing I have learned over time is there are so many creative people making things that resonate or make me feel or smile, and I love that. It's the best.

If this discussion is about which cat my Lavellan is then she'll be a DSH.... Domestic shorthaired, like 99% of street cats ![]()
I think I'll just play Andromeda (Just because I can, but I didn't care to play the others of the series though).
Starting with Andromeda shouldn't be a problem as Andromeda is a fresh start for the Mass Effect series. I'm really looking forward to it; Bioware is my favorite developer and I adore both ME and DA.

I'll be playing Fallout 4 as well. Bethesda games never held my interest for as long as BioWare games have because of the shallower story and character depth but we'll see how F4 goes. I still don't think it will keep me occupied for a year until Andromeda though. But I also have the new SWTOR expansion coming up soon. I have no idea when BioWare's new IP is going to be announced or even what it's about so I'll wait to see on that one.

I agree. I enjoy Bethesda games but they don't hold a candle to Bioware. I'm curious to see how well they write the companions this time though. I don't expect anything as complex as Bioware but I'm looking forward to their promised improvements.

"The wolf was the most sacred of all the creatures worshipped by Alamarri. They believed it was created by the gods to be both a guide and protector for mankind. Promising young warriors were paired off with cubs, and wolves were honored as much as the greatest fighters when they fell in battle."
On the constellation Fenrir,
"Called "White Wolf" in common parlance, Fenrir has always been considered an oddity among scholars, primarily because wolves have no special place within ancient Tevinter folklore. To many, this represents the strongest argument that the Imperium deliberately supplanted older elven constellation names - in the case of Fenrir, an alignment with the elven trickster god, Fen'Harel, would be logical. Others claim a much older Neromenian tale of a wolf escaping hunters by fleeing into the sky exists, but the legend's veracity has never been proved."
There's more that I remember, I'm trying to find it.
A curious thing - this connection of Alamarri with wolves. I wonder if there's more to it than just symbolism.
Hell... I'm convinced there's more. It can't be just a mere coincidence.
Wolf - a guide and protector of mankind???
And Alamarri warriors having wolf companions at their sides since youth?? Just like Emerald Knights and - likely - Mythal herself once???
Oh, come on!
