I'm sure if you wanted your child to have a name that is consistent with elven lore, that signifies she's First in her clan, that you have to make up yourself from several hundred available words, most of which sound weird or have dark symbolism, it would be pretty difficult.

Now that I'm thinking about this: when your character was born they didn't know she would be First, so her name does not necesarily have to be related to her being First, right?

They wouldn't know who would have magic or not, so nope.

*coughs*

If you're interested waaaaaaaay back in the pre-release stuff there's an entire Let It Go paraody called Let Us Know written during the time of the Disneyquisition.

And several quite dirty Solas inspired Dsiney paraodies.

But Let Us Know was my masterpiece.

Oh, I'm VERY interested. Link, please? Can PM if you're worried it's too NSFW

Oh no.  You'll have to find it yourself.  :) It's in the thread, it's over a year old and it's a serise of posts by me and another user called, uh, Science To Do (I believe).  I'm sure you can find it from that.

The dirty ones aren't by me, and they're mostly about how very, very tight his trousers were.  I swear that BW added the butt flap thanks to this thread.

Oh dear. I've gone back to thread lore before the time I appeared, but I've never looked for something specific. OK, let's hope I find it.

Assquisitor Cadash's list of crimes:

Has driven Cassandra to drink.

Casual racism against elves and spirits.  Has already committed one elf related murder.

Encouraged Leliana to become less 'ooooh, pretty colours' and more 'I am Princess Stabbity.  Stab, kill kill!'

Uses the title of Herald for her own gain.

Nug Hunting.

And now I'm listening "For the first time in forever" and imagining it's about Solas going to the Winter Palace

Edit: I couldn't resist.

Spoiler

Still out of likes

Hmm hmmm... You don't say. Do you want to go into details about that?
Maybe give us a rundown of his morning routine in 10 paragraphs?
Or perhaps just go straight to detailing the second date between him and Lavellan?

(Don't take me seriously, I just love your AU < 3)

Maybe not in 10 paragraphs, but sure :)  Have grad student Solas's morning routine:

I've been thinking and I think I get why Solas dislikes the Templars. Not just because of how they treat mages, but because of how the lyrium affects them. In my PT this morning Cole mentioned that the lyrium makes Templars reach for something older and bigger than them, meaning a Titan and we know Titans are part of what started that whole mess. What I don't get is why he is fine with mages using lyrium, unless it's because they don't reach for it like Templars do according to Cole. Thoughts?

For a while, most of my character names began with A. Eventually, I branched out. My Warden got caught up in this though. Her name is Amaya.

Amaya and Alistair.

I wonder if connection with the Fade is what alters the effects of lyrium.

A mage uses it, and it grants them power. Nothing ever starts to take control over them.

Non mage and it connects them to a titan.....and slowly draws them into hive mind stuff.

And, maybe Titans are technically mages.....they have the same connection to the Fade as a human/elf/qunari mage.

And now I wonder if you could do some crazy stuff with mage blood over nonmage blood.

.........more coffee.

I thought about picking a name that's with an A

Then it would be super cheese because they would be A and Z

I'm starting to think lyrium and non-mages do not mix, and that's why Templars need to find another way of dealing with things. We also know that dwarves are the "severed arm" of a Titan and with that their ability to dream was removed, but if lyrium gets into their blood, they go a bit crazy. Only mages seem to handle it, unless it's the lyrium that causes them to go crazy too because it sings to them and thus demons take advantage or they use blood magic. I'm strongly getting this vibe that all that singing is and always was a Titan's thrall, even the OG's.

You could really make that work for you though. Zevran would not be above making such an observation and calling himself her destination or completing her. It could even be something brief, silly, but a recurring reference.

I love cheesy romance stuff way too much.

It doesn't help that I'm chilling eating mac'n'cheese with the little miss.

"Super Cheese" is a good fandom nickname for any pairing involving Zevran. Just wanted to point that out

super Cheese is very accurate to this. I mean, what started off as Operation Get Lavellan Laid has spawn all kinds of retardly cheesy romance things in my brain for later on.

But priorities are important, so they have to sleep together first.

Edit: TF!!!

How do I always end up on top with stuff like this??

Also, there's the matter of them not completely understanding what lyrium is, similar to his thoughts on the Grey Wardens - they're tapping into a force that they only vaguely comprehend, and suffer the consequences.

Solas doesn't seem to care for anything that compromises mental acuity, or creates a dependency like say caffeine. Weekes has said he also doesn't drink alcohol often, as it interferes with his sleep (though we know he was drinking at the Winter Palace - which leads me to believe he was already personally celebrating having taken the eluvians from Briala earlier that day and trying not to think about Felassan). He seems quite the ascetic at times.

I wonder if connection with the Fade is what alters the effects of lyrium.

Well, elven blood is more potent in blood magic rituals, which is why elven slaves are often used. It's canon that all elves used to be able to use magic when the Veil wasn't in place. I'm pretty sure that theory that all modern elves have dormant magic will prove true eventually.

I'm starting to think lyrium and non-mages do not mix, and that's why Templars need to find another way of dealing with things. We also know that dwarves are the "severed arm" of a Titan and with that their ability to dream was removed, but if lyrium gets into their blood, they go a bit crazy. I'm strongly getting this vibe that all that singing is and always was a Titan's thrall, even the OG's.

Perhaps the reason the dwarves can't dream is something to do with the heart of their Titan being removed. Some speculation here:

That seems to be part of what Mythal did to make use of the dwarves when she defeated the Titan and left them empty. She gave them dreams, though maybe it was more like enslaving their minds and getting them to work the mines for her. Solas was working as her guardian at that point, so he has to know exactly what happened. He seems to prefer them to have had the connection to their Titan or the Stone, believing the loss of such to have cost them immeasurably, just like the loss of the elves connection to the Fade. I don't think he believes the dwarves were slaves to the Titan, but that they were part of the Titan, just as elves were part of the Fade.

Like the lyrium is still alive and the dwarves are still alive, but the mind is either asleep or gone. So, basically, it's a Zombie Titan, and most dwarves are part of Zombie Titans, hence them being a twitching limb with no mind to guide it. Getting the lyrium in them is basically taking in some directionless force - the reason mages are less affected, is that they have the power to guide that force - though too much lyrium will still harm them.

That moment.......when you find the name you want to use.....so you need to go and switch it out in all the stuff you wrote about the character on AO3.....

......but AO3 doesn't have a find and replace function......

..............so you have to re upload everything.

It seems to be related to how he views blood magic. It's a tool, and a powerful one. He doesn't object to its use, unless it's used as a crutch, which he objects to. Mages don't need lyrium to do what they do, but it does enhance the power of their spells in a way similar to blood magic. If mages start downing lyrium by the bucket in order to gain an advantage they wouldn't otherwise have (like Tevinter mages use blood magic), I imagine Solas would object to it. Templars *do* need lyrium to do what they do. Without it, they aren't able to access their abilities at all, which puts it in the crutch category. After all, he doesn't object to Cassandra's abilities even though they're similar to templar abilities because she is capable of using them by virtue of her training, not because she drank lyrium.

Or at least that's my take on it.

When? She pulls her hair down, the braid bounces, goes over her shoulder, and behind her back, and later, it slides down her arm.
