As models for immortality, my Lavellan really only has two people: Solas and Abelas. Solas gets to carry his immense guilt and loss through his immortality, and Abelas is bound in eternal servitude to a dead mage. Who wants to live forever? Not her. 
Well guys....while I am in no way satisfied with this and it needed a lot more tweakings even if it's the first time I use this tablet, plus my shadowing skills are a disaster... today I was out all day and tomorrow will also be, and Xmas is kinda already passed... I'm gonna post it anyway before it gets too late! ;P

The theory comes from something Cole says in Trespasser. I believe he says, "He didn't want a body but she asked him to come. He left a scar when he burned her off his face."
Solas has a scar on his face, he's friends with Mythal and there are statues in the Deep Roads of Fen'Harel guarding Mythal or standing in attendance to her. The theory is that Solas was a spirit but Mythal asked him to assume a physical form and she put her vallaslin on him and that's how Solas got the scar on his forehead.
Could someone reiterate that particular theory for me?

Since a great deal of Cole's cryptic comments in Winter Palace is about Solas and his past, it's hard to assume that it'd be about anyone else - or that it is about anything other than vallaslin. That Solas has a noticeable scar on his forehead (AND that he knows how to remove vallaslin) only makes the impression stronger.
And yes - Solas was likely in position of authority. But that position of authority appears to be guarding Mythal, according to codices we find in Deep Roads section of Trespasser:

Actually, the Winter Palace and many party comments happen no matter if you have spirit! or human!Cole - as far as I recall the major difference is between human!Cole claiming that him becoming human is better and spirit!Cole claiming that he'll return to the Fade after all this to remind certain someone about his principles (that, plus the banter in Vir Dirthara).

It's been a while, and I only played with spirit!Cole, but watched my husband play with human!Cole.
The details must've gotten all jumbled up in my head.
Those theories does fit some of what we know but I'm reluctant to let go of the talented Dreamer from a tiny village idea.
I just like it more.
Same here! I'm on team village!Solas until canon proves otherwise, simply because this is how I'd like to think of him. I want to believe that before he got dragged into this whole evanurial mess he was the simple wanderer we see in Inquisition.
Not the strongest reason to support a theory, but hey, I was on team Lone Wolf and it worked out.
