I just realized this the other night...not only is Solas willing to kill countless waking world people, he's willing to essentially kill countless dreaming world people - spirits - by twisting them into demons. Man. He really should just...play on the computer instead. 

 

This is why I'm glad I left Cole more like a spirit. Cole and Hawke can team up to save the spirits on the other side. I actually wouldn't mind playing 2 PCs in DA4 if one character was in the fade working with the spirits/Spirit Cole and Hawke/Alistair/Loghain/Stroud, and the other pc was my Inquisitor! Playing a spirit would be especially fun. 

 

Still, it seems out of character for Solas to actually go through with his crazy plan. Solas loves spirits, even if he does see modern people as gremlins. Why would he force unwilling spirits into the world, twisting them into demons?

I left Cole as a spirit too, and am happy for it. I have no way to know this for sure, but I feel like he can do better work as a spirit of compassion in the Fade. Besides, spirits of compassion are rare, why would I rob the world of one more?

 

I never thought I'd say this, but I'd love to play as my Inquisitor again in DA4. It won't happen, but I have some cautious, cautious hope that we may have some sort of dual protagonist deal in DA4. My Inquisitor's story just does not feel finished, and the stakes are really, really personal. We shall see.

 

I don't know that it is out of character, I mean, there's this whole other side to him we're only just starting to see. I think Solas feels so much guilt over all the lives he already destroyed that he feels he owes it to those who went weeping into Uthenera ("The People, they need me") to set things right. I think he thinks of them and will do whatever it takes to bring their world back. He just can't think too much about all those he is going to hurt to make it right for those he wronged. I can't believe I feel for someone who is trying to do something so horrible, it's brilliant. 

 

Solas will fail, in one way or another. For all his wisdom, he lacks foresight. He is a tragic figure, yes, but I am on team cautious optimism! Frilly cakes for all!

If it hadn't been for the comments and pictures here I never would have seen them either....those thighs were truly mesmerizing 8)

I left Cole as a spirit too. It seemed like the "right" thing for my elven Inquisitor to do after learning so much more about spirits over the course of the game. I like to think that "where compassion is most needed" is wherever Solas happens to be, and that "where the hurt was greatest" also refers to Solas... Even though I know Solas would just shut Cole down if Cole tried any of his compassion on him, since that's what happens in the banters between them.  :/  

 

Edited to add: It seems like having an ally in the Fade would be a good thing if one wishes to try to redeem Solas, which is what my Inquisitor decided to do.

 

I'll be curious to learn how things will fall out for the people who chose to stop Solas no matter the cost. (I note that the wording was "stop" not "kill," though, so... I wonder how many players with death wishes for Solas might end up being disappointed?) It'll be interesting to see how you can stop someone who could turn you to stone with a thought.
