On a way smaller scale, when I was 14 I was running a webcomic blog and it gained a fair amount of popularity considering what it was, but very quickly it also gained the same kind of trolls and it was just way too much too handle, even if they were like 5 or 6 people out of 100 daily visitors

I just can't start to feel enough for the creators who have to *keep working* while this is happening all the time over the whole internet

 

I remember having a fan forum and it was a hell to moderate with a few obnoxious users. It's gotten even worse when they tried to make it personal - the forum was created by a few of my friends on my server and all we asked people for is to behave and not antagonize anybody. Eventually it got into a spot where any attempt to moderate or ask them to behave (we were pretty easygoing, hardly any bans or whatsoever) got us accusations of being control-obsessed bullies and other wonderful epithets. I pulled the plug eventually because the forum was no longer a good place to hang out or discuss :/

I am a long time pre game release lurker, I do not think I have ever posted here (since character threads are generally more romance focused then I like), but you had a couple of interesting discussions here, and I prefer reading to posting.

Hey there! 

 

I didn't think I would come back to the forums for a long time but this...this is ridiculous. I agree that's one good thing to do everyday look at the positives but on this very topic with the forum I don't see one yet especially with all the lore and theories and art put into this place. 

 

I don't know if I will stick around as I'm a bit Solas'd out right now lol ( I still love the guy though) but it's nice to be back.

Sorry for double post but I want to say this there is an old saying " Where there is a will there is a way" and I think if Bioware doesn't change their minds and close the forums there will be a way for the fans to communicate somewhere.... *raises optimistic flag with NightSymphony*

No problem! I once moderated a board run by the official people of a show and had to watch it get axed too and whether you are behind the scenes or the victim it's so unpleasant! This was going to be a home for me to escape from reality when things got stressful. I can't imagine how it is for people who have been here longer.

If you want to start backing things up programs such as HTTrack are a good start. 

 

Saving everything manually would be kind of tedious though. 

 

I've backed up a few threads with it.
