So I'm doing more pages on wayback machine. I got pages #1-300 done yesterday (and credit goes to all of ya'll who saved the other pages. Thank you for that! :D).

I'm doing more today. I got pages #300-310 done earlier, then I started doing the even/main numbers up to 6,000. I then went back in to do the 10's and 5's. It seems like someone else is doing the 10's now. lol

U GUYS

I PM'd Conal Pierse the other day [ladyiolanthe actually kindly also did so, independently of me, and CC'd me in there too, bless her] ,

"Hi Conal,

I'm the OP/thread leader of a popular character discussion thread. Since the announcement about the forum closure, we've been concerned about losing everything when it comes to deletion time.

I'm aware that the forum will be read-only for a while, which is a good step as it gives us time. I'll be saving our OP, our main resources and some parts of the thread manually (the OP links to several parts of the thread where useful answers and great discussions happened, for example), but I can't possibly save it all manually. It's over 6000 pages long, so I couldn't possibly do it manually even with the help of some volunteers. It's not even practically feasible to simply look through the thread page by page and saving only the best bits. I've been looking into tech solutions for archiving the thread, perhaps using some kind of program or tool, but so far haven't had any luck.

I was therefore encouraged to reach out to the admins
[CANT REMEMBER WHO TOLD ME T O DO SO BUT THANK YOU OMG] on the off-chance that an archive of our thread might be something you'd be capable of offering or helping us with, hence this message. I understand that BioWare seem to want to delete the forums in their entirety - but some specific threads are absolute gems in terms of content and quality, and the Solas thread is a great example of this. Our thread is relatively densely-packed with theorycrafting, lore discussion, speculations, character analysis, etc. Not to mention the history and memories there. It would be a great shame to lose it, from both a practical/game/game-world-knowledge and emotional perspective.

Thanks for your time,

Solas on behalf of the Solas thread

I'm feeling more or less coherent enough to post now (it's only been 48 hours since the news)...

I'd like to say a heart-felt thank you to Solas for everything you've done, and are still doing, for us here, and also thank you to everyone else here on the Solas thread for being so wonderful. I don't know how I could have gone through the Solas romance and the Trespasser ending without you all; the sense of community here has been so heart-warming, not to mention all the fascinating theories and art posts.

I hope to see more of everyone in Blanketfort II.

(previously Rosemusk, if any of you remember).

To the thread,

Want your feedback re: setup of Blanketfort 2 at RDF.

We can make the thread in an existing subform e.g. DA:I forum, or another location can be created for us (Blanketfort subforum). In either place the admin can pin the official BF2 thread at the top if we want.

What would you rather see? BF2 as a thread in an existing subforum e.g. DA:I, or a BF2 subforum?

as always I defer to your preference.

I don't know, really, a subforum could be a neato upgrade but is it actually necessary ? In the meantime I've been rolling down the whole hill even into the cullen thread (I feel so sorry for them I'M SORRY). Though the RDF seems to be used to opening thread about every new topic they want to discuss so having a whole subforum is more clear if we follow this pattern, but the blanketfort has been doing kinda fine as singledthread for over 2 years, so idk

We could still get side threads with blanketfort in the name if we need to extend, like, idk, when da4 gets released and we need a blanketfort-spoilers thread

but then there's the issue that the da:i is a single subforum with a loooottt of uncategorized threads so it might get really confusing very soon

I'd go with a subforum fort as the safe choice, even if we only get like 1 or 2 threads in it for now

But we might as well decide to settle in a single thread in the da:i subforum next to the cullen one and then ask for our own subforum if it gets needed

I don't know how others see it, but personally I'm not sure if we really need a subforum? Yes, it's a very active thread, but mostly because we keep everything in it. I kinda enjoy the mish-mash, though I suppose we could have a separate thread for content like one in Blaket For Writers group. Any other Solas-related thread could live with a life of its own on DAI or DA4 subforums, kinda like here, I guess?

That's my two cents.

A lot of Catholic saints are basically either pagan gods in disguise or syncretic amalgams of them and actual historic figures)

Hency why as a Christian I find the Catholic church disgusting.

They're like a vegan club that holds a huge barbecue party every week.

I dunno..I do like having everything together in one place..but it would also be nice to have separate places to talk about lore and post art and so on. On the other hand, talking about so many different things all at once like we have been is nice, with little art breaks inbetween.  I'm torn.

I've just read Conal's response. I hope the Blanketfort will be preserved. I confess I've never been much of a poster here - I might've posted once or twice -, but this is without a doubt one of the few, precious threads that made the BSN worth coming to. For everyone.

I'd like to emphasize that EC looks like a great little community and remind folks there's nothing preventing them from going there instead if they so desire, or participating in both communities if they're so inclined.

Not trying to split or fracture the Blanketfort of course - speaking for myself only here, EC has some some different positive aspects compared to RDF (e.g. it feels like a space that would fulfill some of the needs that RDF wouldn't - for example at EC I feel like I could pull up a chair to a small circle of close friends with a mug of herbal tea in hand, which is great! it's not that one site or the other is better, but that they have different qualities, for different niches), not to mention I'd love to keep up with the community on there, as well as reconnect some with old Blanketforters who left or mostly left the Blanketfort in the months prior to the BioWare Forum closure announcement. Accordingly I hope to be around on EC some too and participating in there also in the future. You can find me on EC as Knight Enchanter.

I'll likely be joining EC, too.  If they'll have me.  Is the Blanketfort group on AO3 still active?

I'm not sure we'll need an entire subforum.  We've always done well as a thread.

I'll just add that the sheer size and mishmash of this thread was pretty intimidating for me personally and I did post like once or twice waaaay back when but the speed and size of it put me off so I'd just sit here shrouded in mist ;)

A sub-forum could break it up, keep it organized and make it less intimidating for new comers.

Just my thoughts :)

Yet another forum lurker popping up to say how much I've enjoyed reading this thread over the last year or so.  The discussions, and lore, and art sharing have been awesome.  It makes me sad that they're just going to delete all of this; I really hope that as much as possible of it is able to be saved.  The RDF forums look like a nice place.  I may have to creeper-stalk all of you over to there to get my Solas thread fix in.  But this time I'm going to actually join in with posting, because these boards going away makes me sad that I didn't do that here when I first found this thread.   -_-

I've thought about it. I think we should have a subforum under the DA:I section like the Cullen people do. We don't need a huge subforum.  That's my opinion anyway.
