I'm okay with the idea of Solas being an ex-husband or widow as long as they don't make him go too much into it.

It's always a male character who has this syndrom. Carth, Sky, Zevran, Steve, Thane... Sometimes, I get the impression they create the dead husband/mate issue, because they don't want to spend time on certain characters in order to create a better story line. Just compare Carth and Bastila. Or Sky and Silxfox/Dawn Star... I really hope we'll be spared from it this time.

Hello everyone. Welcome, Elyu.

I have a little to-do list for the OP which I will start on just now. ^^

How can I be out of likes if I just woke up!?

Ah yes, the ever-present issue that dogs Solas-fans... :D

Ah I love this one!I like how Solas seems repulsed possibly by the Inquisitor's strategy skills.

I want my Inquisitor to have a lost loved one.   I have written her/him that way.   Basically I have two characters who are about to exchange vows before the Holy Ashes and then boom.     Then I play the game from the perspective of each survivor.     The problem is if the character profile that goes with the race fits my backstory because obviously you need to be able to reference it in what you say.

So it would be touching if Solas was to admit to a family or love one that he has lost and my Inquisitor can respond that she knows what it's like because she has too and that is the start of bringing them closer together.    But it would lose something if he mentioned it and then I could only think it in my head.    This is why I'm actually just as interested to find out how much information we are going to be given on our Inquisitor as I am our companions.  Will we be a total amnesiac?  Or is it just the details of our survival that we will not have a clue about?     We will be able to select small details such as whether we are single or not going into the game?  Will we be given speech options during the game that can reflect different ages and past relationships, or none at all?  From what I have read, it will not be like DAO, where we had a proper introduction to our character and where they came from and could spend some time learning what it was like to be them, so what will it be?

O_O finished the like for the first time...ARGH!!!

I'd prefert too if there are no problematic/dead ex to think about this time around. I liked Zevran, Carth and Thane, but is starting to became a little repetitive. I'd prefer some brothers/sisters with kids to rescue, if really a male LI have to have some kind of relative issue.

(and yes, I'm quite selfish, and I'd like my LI for me and me only. or if there have to be one...I'd prefer is not the usual kind of the kindest person ever my character have to feel bad and insignificant every time that person is nominated)

I can totally understand some of you who don't want to romance someone that has baggage or had someone in the past.

But if Solas had a wife and is divorced (if elves even do that sort of thing) or he is a widower...I'll still romance the guy which yes it will bother me a bit cause like Cezelle said I want my Inquisitor to be his first and only love but that sort of thing where he had a relationship with someone in the past wont' keep me from Romancing him.

Still I kind of doubt he is carrying a lot of baggage, I doubt he has had a very serious relationship in the past but we will have to wait and see.  :)

I just hope to GOD this isn't going to be another "Thane romance".

But then again this isn't Mass effect so I guess I shouldn't worry too much.  :D

Gosh I love this thread and how possessive we're all being towards Solas, nothing wrong with that of course, carry on!  :D I never missed my likes as much as I do now, I keep accidentally liking posts because I'm that big of a doofus I forget within 20 minutes that I actually can't do that  :pinched:

Wouldn't Solas having an ex-wife and kids make him like Dr. Orpheus?

I'm honestly curious about this wanting to be a love interest's one and only true love. Is this just part of some sort of fantasy game fulfillment, or are people that way in real life, too? Maybe it's an age and perception thing?

I personally like the idea of characters (love interest or otherwise) having had lives outside of whatever you are currently doing to save the world. Especially when they are older characters, expecting them to never have loved and lost, or loved, kept, and procreated is strange. It may be beyond the scope of a video game or its audience's interest to get into, but casual reference to the wife/husband at home or how they hope to see their kids again sometime soon is not something I would hate to see. Kind of like Bailey in ME talking about his ex wife and children.

Coffee should kick in soon, honest...

I always wondered that myself, I don't have a clue, but sometimes it feels like I can like more than I could another day. Maybe the forum mods play bingo everyday and whatever number the first bingo fell on they pick that as the max for that day? :D

same here...there are too many post i liiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiike  :(

I'm simply tired of the same pattern in the male LI, in truth.

I have seen already too many time the "dead important one before you" that is not even funny anymore.

And for the ex wife...uhm. I don't like it much in a fantasy setting.  -_- I've seen it too much in RL to like it. I'm all for ex girlfriends (or boyfriends) and a "life before". but I'd prefer if the relationship wasn't a serious one like a marriage. I have had already in RL a story where I always felt as if I was "the second choice", I'd prefer to not feel this way in game too.

if your bingo prediction is true then I guess they rolled a three

but yeah for some reason the males seem to be targeted in the games that I have played to be the ones with former lovers. I hope Inquisition's case is not the same, but the question is if it had to be females who would it be?

Edit: Dorian's interview is up.. and it's DG

Have to say, I sort of share this feeling. Nothing wrong with having one or two inexperienced companions, when it comes to relationships/love/romance. But most having a "fuller" background, especially if they have a few years under their belt, is more appealing to me. Cullen, by nature of the two games we have seen him in, still is most likely fairly "inexperienced". Even Cassandra may have a bit of that, based on how I imagine (and I admit, this just my perception of her character) she prioritizes her life. I guess my main point is, I hope there is a nice broad spectrum. Some with little to no experience with romance, others with some understanding of longer termed romances (possibly even still in one), and those that have a lion's share of experience. lol!

As for Solas, even though he appears to be painted as a loner (at least that is a theory), it may not have always been that way for him. I personally like the idea of him having had some normalcy in his youth. As to what placed him in the (potential) position of being a hermit of sorts, the sky is the limit on the possibilities. ;) It could make for a very interesting story.

Oh, and as for the dead spouse/lover, would prefer a twist similar to Oghren's instead (the likes of Branka leaving him, or him leaving Felsi). Mostly because, it too can have an interesting outcome.

Just my .02 while finishing my coffee. Now I need a refill. <3

I don't mind whether or not my Inquisitor is his "first and only", or if he has an ex or dead wife/lover. It's Carth syndrome, specifically, which I would like to avoid. :) If he's romanceable in the first place of course.

Okay folks: Some updates to the OP. Minor word/phrasing changes, reshuffling and reformatting, plus a couple new sections. I also changed the "screenshots" part and put them up as images under a spoiler tag rather than a series of separate links, I think that's better.

Ispan, you asked for some people to go over your posts and I have done just now, all good here, I don't see any problems. :)

Questions for the thread:

- Does anyone remember the little doll someone made of Solas? Is anyone able to find it?

- For Scotch bonnet candies, was there also a little explanatory descriptor that came with it like "fiery but sweet" or something or is that something we came up with and added to it?

- Am I missing any little snippets, however tiny, on Solas's personality that we gleaned from David, Allan, etc?

I've now gotten to trawling through the old thread post by post to collect anything I have missed so far!

Oh gosh well that makes me pretty confident that Dorian is going to be a gay romance, because of Gaiders earlier comments. But now, is there still a possibility for Solas to be a LI then, or is that completely out of the question now?

Edit: nvm I said that before I read the entire interview, it's even confirmed that he's gay so nvm the first part :P
