I just read the codex on Solas after the end of the game, with all of Leliana's updates.

My poor Inquisitor. She's probably even more confused now, with Leliana saying that Solas was deceiving them the entire time. If there is dlc or an expansion in the future dealing with Solas, I have no idea how to even make her react. In my head, she still loves him but is so hurt and confused and wishes she could hate him. 

 

God I hope it doesn't take 3 years to get closure on this.

 

What does it say? I'm afraid I am out of town tonight and won't have access to my game until tomorrow afternoon.

So I've had one person look over my fanfiction's opening and made a few changes based on their advice, Can I borrow anyone's mad-writing skills? I'd like a few more tips for polishing my writing up before I post it publicly as I'm quite rusty for non-scholarly works, and my friend that was going to read it is too busy. D:

I think so, for some reason my mind is defaulting to crystals, but it's late and the defacto food coma day of the year over here, so I'm probably remembering wrong. It doesn't matter over much, just a detail I wanted to explore. Thank you both for the reply!

But they did manage to track down the town that he said he grew up in - and that it had been a ruin for centuries. She apologizes for having not looked into all of this earlier, while he was still here. But she can pretty much guarantee he deceived them all from the start. 

 

And while these forums have given me some hope and understanding, my Inquisitor doesn't have that. Sadness.

Does she know that? I thought all she knew of the orb was that the ancient elves created it. We didn't exactly find out it was his until the epilogue. Unless I just wasn't paying attention.

So, I just finished the game myself and had been lurking on the forums for a bit, but... Ah... Wow.

 

I want to start with this:

 

The first Inquisitor I planned was, of course, a female dalish elf. Now, it wasn't a character I was building up from scratch to specifically be my Inquisitor. She was actually a character I made shortly after DA2 came out that I used to RP with for awhile... And her entire theme?

 

Follower of Fen'Harel.

 

In my RP canon, she encountered a spirit of loyalty that was bound within the body of a wolf (drawing inspiration from Witherfang/Lady of the Forest) when she was a young child. And while she grew up with stories of the dalish pantheon, something in her tugged at her and made her feel like she was meant for more, with her wolf-spirit companion nudging her on the entire time. Her clan was not keen on how much she questioned their people's history, so she was given curvy, claw-like markings to symbolize Fen'Harel's vallaslin. They aren't really friendly people, so she basically left and started to travel from clan to clan to learn all she could about the subtle differences in each clan's stories, to hopefully gain a higher understanding of their history... as well as searching for ruins and whatnot.

 

I didn't really tweak much of her backstory to make her my Inquisitor, except that she eventually found the Lavellan clan and stayed with them. Especially now that I've finished the game--the clan seems to be pretty collected as far as dalish clans go.

 

When I was waiting for information on companions and romances, I was wasn't too excited about possible romance with them (except Varric, but not for this Inquisitor, even though those hopes were dashed).

 

And then Solas popped up, and I was like, Him.

Now imagine my surprise when I go through the entire game, headcannoning that this is how my elven Inquisitor is (I pretend her wolf friend is there, even if not on the screen ), romancing Solas--just to find out that he's the Dread Wolf. It's a goddamn miracle, I about rejoiced. Even with how bittersweet the romance itself was.

 

God I need to write fanfiction now. Or RP. It just gives me so many ideas--especially if Solas recognizes her headcannoned vallaslin? My Inquisitor's thought process for allowing them to be removed is that, even if she thinks highly of her gods, she doesn't want to be bound by them in that way. And it gives her a chance for a fresh start, and more knowledge going forward. So in my head, instead of just offering her freedom, he's offering her freedom from himself and whatever trouble he's going to get into, even if she doesn't know it.

I know that for Varric, you van gain approval by destroying Red Lyrium, and Blackwall gains approval (much more for doing the quest with him around) for collect Warden Memorabilia. I was just wondering if there was something similar for Solas.

Kay so here's the thing. I'm really taking my time with the game and doing as many side quests and inner circle quests as possible, especially with my core group (Solas, Cassandra, and Cole) and I just got past the temple mission where you choose to either let Morrigan use the power of the well or you can. However if you bring Solas with you it gives you the option to ask him if he wants it, which I did because at that point I know him and trust him a lot more than stupid Morrigan and I figured he would go for it given his backstory and his love of Elvish lore and knowledge in general. So when he just turns you down flat I was kind of left like "what the hell?". Definitely seemed like an inconsistency to me for his character and obviously the writers just did that to advance the story in some way and Solas may not have been meant to play that major of a role late game, but still. I feel like the ball was definitely dropped here.

... about the wolves that kept attacking you during your map explorations, being all fade possessed - possibly because of Solas? I'm not sure if this has been brought up or not, and I cannot remember exactly WHAT the explanation was for the possessed wolves, but it seems like a pretty obvious hint. Could someone correct me if I'm wrong? I'm scratching my head trying to remember the quest that first involved the wolves in the Hinterlands, if it gave any other clues as to their nature.

 

Also, day after finishing the game, and wow feels still hurt hahaha solas why.

The first quest you have to kill a terror demon that's controlling the pack... So I guess that's what's up with all the other packs in other placeS?

In the Hinterlands, there's a demon controlling the wolves. You kill it to free the pack. I doubt Solas would be behind something like that. He does not approve of altering the nature of things in such a way (e.g. he always says that such alterations create demons from spirits, and he also prefers Cole stay more like a spirit).
