For me, if there were no comments or votes allowed, it made the content seem a little dubious and I was more reluctant to download it.
Personally I'd be fine with just a 'like' button, rather than a vote. The votes on the old vault were so over-inflated that they didn't really tell you much. More often than not it seemed like a vote for a 'like' than for a critical evaluation of the product.
Nice comments are welcome, of course. But what I found useful about the comment field of the old vault were bug reports. If I could read those then I knew what to expect when I downloaded something. If they showed up on my uploads, then I knew what to fix.

<practicing with both...>
For me, as I don't do negative votes, I either voted 10 or didn't vote. I was either blown away with something or willing to let it dog paddle on it's own. So, yeah, I think the old votes were mostly boolean :-P
The entire vote system on the new Vault is slated for overhaul, with a range of metrics (and the Vault Karma system will factor in also) and affiliation with the AME for reviews.
My goal here is that no project *loses* in the migration.
Re bug reports, I do hope to get a full featured issue tracking system going. I really like the one integrated into the drupal.org site and hope to rig up something similar that is both built in (automatic) and non-intrusive, providing various metrics for both authors and browsers.
One of the metrics Pain and I were looking at using Neverlauncher was installed base (how many people had installed a project), since you can subscribe to projects with Neverlauncher and auto-update them. Just being able to see how many people are using a mod or hak gives an indication of it's appeal and utility.

But an optional endorsement/like count rather than categorising vote system tied to comments is by far my favourite which is why when I had an alternative I went to the Nexus with my latest module and didn't bother with the vault.
Mr Kipp I'm with you with my votes.. It's 10 or nothing for me too which does play havoc with the system but it's so fussy and ridiculous with it's could do better, room for improvement, awesome must play never seen anything like it nonsense that empowers the petty minded nit pickers that have heart attacks when you miss an apostrophe or put the wrong coloured dragon in the jungle. They then immediately lose their "immersion" and are "jarred" into writing lengthy reviews of "I know best" and "what would have made things better for them" although they've never made a module in their lives.
Voting sucks.. Rant over keep up the good work.

I am surprised that the new vault has not loaded some scripts for barmaids and blacksmiths as yet. I know we cannot expect everything at once, but you would think they would be prioritizing by the uploading files with the highest ratings from the old vault. I have download two modules that were corrupted from the new vault, although I was able to download them again from another site without any problems.
I am glad some one is taking this project on and would be glad to help if possible.

I think the NWN2 migration from the old vault is pretty much done now. Most of the content has been migrated; I just skipped a few low quality entries in the sections I checked. The other parts look to have been migrated over already, mainly by Carcerian. What remains to do is probably assigning some tags, setting the migrated projects to the Migrate Wizard account, and checking for any odds and ends.
So... whew!

O-k, I've checked out both neverwintervault.net and neverwintervault.org and...well...I was happy that the vault still exist, but...Problem now is it only loads the website/s when it wants to. Else it'll end up in a infamous page:
The connection has timed out
The server at neverwintervault.org is taking too long to respond.
The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few moments.
If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network connection.
If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.
Now IF they think that it's my internet they would be dead mistaken as EVERYTHING on the internet that exists and isn't a dead link. ((mind you dead links are websites that no longer exist, but even they show the web domain leftovers)) This leads me to believe that it's one of two things. 1: the site isn't friendly to some US internet providers as I learned that neverwintervault.org is hq'ed in germany. 2: They are having trouble people trying to get in who are NOT logged in. That could also mean anyone who WANTS to register cannot even enter the site thoroughly. Note: it could be a number of other possibilities but Cyric's Blood can they at least try and figure out a remedy.

You must be "dead mistaken" since I just clicked and both now and have never before timed out or had an error.
