I would like to be able to to have amore and weapon that if we add ex a dragonbone handle to a sword not own raise the stats but also alter the looks of the weapon and same for the amor if I add wool padding under the chainmail I want to be able to see it any thoughs

Too much work. We can be glad if gloves and shoes change the characters appearance not only the chestpiece in nowadays RPG.

I think in the recent E3 Demo they have mentioned that there is a possibility to do something like this. Quite sure I remember reference of being able to change hilts and such.
