Sorry to bring up another game in BioWare's official forums. It's just that I keep seeing references to Dragon Age: Inquisition's graphics saying that they aren't that great. One article I read said DA:I is caught in that "awkward between-generations spot" when it comes to visuals, and that Witcher 3 is "certainly better-looking."
It kind of makes me feel dumb, because to me the games look almost the same graphics-wise, with DA:I even having the upper hand in some areas. Am I just a terrible judge of graphics? Or is 75% of the internet biased towards the Witcher franchise?

I'd be a little surprised if Witcher didn't have undeniably better graphics.
Isn't it coming out a year later, only on next-gen consoles and PCs? Of course it should be better. DAI is coming out soon, and it even works on 360/Ps3.

TW3 has better graphics, though that doesn't mean Inquisition's are crap. TW3 is just designed to ride those maxed-out rigs hard.
One thing TW3 has going for it is, I think, the hair looks a lot better. In particular Yennefer's hair in this pic (girl on right), and Geralt's facial hair to, say, Dorian's.

DA:I has some pretty environments. The characters seem less detailed and well animated than in Witcher 3, though. From what i could see, at least.

Graphicwise the witcher 3 comes off as having a smoother graphic style with the characters that make them look better/more human looking. The DAI character have a more harsh look that gives them the promient angles or makes certain aspects of their face stand out. It could also just be the art style. As far as Biased goes, I do belive that the gaming community does have some towards the witcher series and CDprojeckt as they seem to have a golden child status simply becuase they haven't created any real DLC that they charged people for and are pretty good about patching their game.

The Witcher 3's graphics look better, though as mentioned earlier in the thread it is entirely next gen. DA:I on the other hand will also be releasing on the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3, so its partially being designed for older technology. I wouldn't expect it to look as good.
Bioware's first fully next gen title is going to be the next Mass Effect game. As far as graphics go that would be a more fair comparison with the Witcher.

Considering they only have to focus on one protagonist/voice/etc. etc. with not as many permanent companions, I'm not surprised at all.
You can't really compare the two, because one is single protag and the other is much more party focused.

Cross gen graphic vs next gen graphics.....pointless comparison is pointless
TW3 by a landslide
I second this but it doesn't matter there's 5 months in between and DAI still looks gorgeous.
If it were next gen only we probably would have had only one huge open world though.

The Witcher 3 has better visuals on a technical level. I don't think anyone can really argue otherwise. But The Witcher 3 is only being developed for current generation consoles and the PC, so they have a distinct advantage when it comes to making their game look better. Dragon Age: Inquisition is also on previous generation machines that are running on decade-old hardware, so naturally things aren't going to look as impressive as concessions have to be made.

Yep.
To the OP, you were probably unaware of this, but there were quite a few Witcher versus Dragon Age debates in this forum in the past and the threads tend to go south quickly.

I wouldn't let it bother me what people discuss in their articles. What matters is what you think about the graphics. If you think they are the same, well, why bother ... ? Even if TW3 has better graphics, doesn't mean that Inquisition won't be great. So, does it really matter so much who has the upper hand?

If that is Yen, they screwed up her hair hard. Black and curly CDP, how the hell is that hard to do?

Maybe you should ask Bioware.
OT: Even the witcher 2 looks better than DA:I does.

In terms of capabilities, the Witcher will almost certainly be the better in the graphics department. Keep in mind, though, that graphics are usually confused with aesthetic design. Graphics only pertain to how many polygons are displayed on the screen, quality of lighting effects, hair physics, that sort of things. Which brings me to:
I'm not as much worried about graphics power as I am aesthetics. Honestly I'm just not digging the DA:I aesthetics so far. The characters just look kind of off to me, there was thread about which characters were the hottest and I couldn't even begin to reply in it. Some scenes I've looked at look like toys almost on the screen. I really don't even know how to articulately state what I'm trying to, it just looks off.
I like the direction the Witcher goes with it's aesthetics.
I second this. The aesthetic design of Dragon Age is a bit of a letdown for me as well. From the weird gimicky spikes everywhere to the way characters move to the way horses move... I'm afraid the Witcher has the upperhand in that department as well. It's not a big deal for me, but still I'd rather they kept the design from DA:O and not DA2...
But graphics don't count. So there's that.

Witcher 3 definitely. I'm not very good at noticing graphics differences but after watching both demos, I think Witcher 3 is better because it has the freedom that comes with working exclusively on next-gen. I mean, look at Geralt's hair in the demo. It's bouncing! Like real hair!
The hair is not a gen thing. It's a static model thing. Geralt can only have one hairstyle. That's a lot easier to animate, especially since his armour selection is limited and they can easily check for clipping. Tomb Raider is current gen title and it also had good hair.
