I have no idea where you got this impression, but it is completely 100% wrong.

what is there so difficult to understand, in gameplay the engine needs to process a large amount of data: enemies, all the envirorment, fauna, npc's everithing, but in a cutscene it just needs to process the characters involved in the scene and a small piece of the background, so it has a lot more power to create a better quality to character models. Take a look at the call of duty i think it was short video where they show off a high quality dog, with full detail, you could see every single individual strand of hair. do you think the game could keep all that detail while running everithing else

Uhh.. again, no :) (or rather, that's not quite what I was referring to)

Yep, you're right. Kinda got carried away with the argument there. It's not so much about lighting as the clouds/fog/whatever that is. Should look something like this, just like you've been showing:

That's Mount Hood reflecting off Trillium? I think someone gave it a good photoshopping though.

Yeah, it's Mount Hood.

Since I never played Witcher and most likely never will, I don't compare graphics from one game to another. My concern is story, characters and gameplay. From what Bioware has shown me up this point, I will not be disappointed in regards to gameplay, story, characters and with my eyes, the graphics look good as well.

Tried to play the 1st once but the combat and the dialogue camera switching were a huge annoyance. Did play TW2 though and very much looking forward to TW3.

Never heard of the game till I joined the BSN over 2 years ago and being that its only available for the pc, it made me less interested. I'm not a big fan playing games on the pc. I like my ps3 and relaxing on my couch in front of my 50" screen tv.

I never got into the Witcher because I'm not a PC-gamer and I couldn't play the first game. I heard the second game was rather unfriendly to new players, so I never bothered with it either.

I do think I could like The Witcher series, but honestly, I'm rather turned off by its fanbase. From the day I started playing Dragon Age, I've had to put up with obnoxious Witcher fans loudly crowing at me that I was only allowed to play one RPG series and I had chosen the wrong one. So unless The Witcher 3 turns out to be descended from heaven - and from what I hear of those leaked spoilers, it ain't - I'll give it a pass.

Because there is no character creation

I'll tell you why its a huge turn off for people which made some have no interest in playing...it gets tedious seeing these Witcher VS Dragon Age posts over and over and over.

Me too, my big screen even has a game mode.  I refuse to use a gamepad though so I have to throw a wireless keyboard and mouse on the coffee table :)

I think the thread has mostly expended the point of its original topic now.  The "Why don't you play <game X>" always comes up and I suspect the answers are often ones that have already been shared.

Locking.
