So playing advantageously is just as broken as me playing a Merc and three other squadmates not getting to kill anything?
My dear lord, all these years, Zae was right.
Explain to me how that merc isn't playing advantageously please.

OP kits make little to no difference for a good player, they are going to kill stuff regardless of what they play as. I typically avoid playing with them as I personally don't find them to be a ton of fun too often, but every now and then I feeling like killing everything and if someone can't keep up that isn't my problem. Play something OP yourself are wreck stuff with me or sit back and enjoy the show.
Back on topic... If I am not feeling antsy I will kind of hang back with people even in bad areas. If it gets too bad, I will pop an ops pack, revive them, and move to a new spot and it is up to them if they choose to follow or get downed again.
@mrs_anomoly: I personally like the center of Rio cause I hate running back and forth on that map, but if I were going to get overwhelmed I know to move.
Nothing that other people do in this game will bother me, but then again I play for my enjoyment before anyone else's since it isn't worth playing if you aren't having fun. All this talk on community opinions means nothing to me, because it is my opinion that matters. I will avoid certain setups when playing with certain friends, because I want them to enjoy themselves as well (megascrub) and they are worth it to me to not play something to kill all the stuff. Randoms don't get that benefit and never will, cause I dgaf about them.
Yeah but Slim, you're a good player, and most of my friends are too, if they had my back I'd be in the middle of the Rio map no issue. Plus as you mention you know when to move.
Pugs will just die and die and run in front of a Prime (I saw this last week, same player did this multiple times while I was shaking my head) and try to stand without out cover and shoot the Prime FFS. ![]()
I am all on board for the "whole team participates" thing. Makes sense.
However, let's not pretend the end result isn't the same. You have made the game easier by forcing enemies into a predictable path of your choosing so you can mow them down.
Further, an OP kit, let's just say Qmi because arc nades work in this example, clearly does make the game easier for everyone because everything is stunned so the team can do what it wants.
I can understand how at least everyone gets to play is a good thing, but to pretend that forcing spawns isn't actually just as broke as all the op kits is silly.
Everything is stunned? You mean dead, right?
They are not the same level of broken unless you are just dropping a missile on everything. A forced spawn usually only happens 1 time per wave to wipe out the initial double spawn, after that it is usually broken into 2 locations which most randoms don't have a clue as to where they are and get wrecked from behind cause of it.
The OP kit however, gives zero hoots about that spawn son. It just runs in there and annihilates it alone in seconds with little to no fear of being downed at all. Especially if said OP kit is played by someone that knows the spawns as well as some BSNers do, it basically becomes a joke to play. Not saying that is a good or bad thing, but to say they are the same level of broken is just pure madness.

I do that sometimes too, most of the time it is trying to rage rocket the Prime. ![]()
Also, I am really not that good. I just know the spawns in my sleep after all my playtime on this game. ![]()

Oh it is advantageous but we're talking a different level of advantageous. Spamming cain mines is as close as you can get to missile glitching in a game, it destroys the purpose of the game completely. I'm not really sure how you can't understand that.
Spawn control again is just smart tactically and put you in good position to kill the enemies but you actually have to kill them instead of pushing one button and winning.
Trying to force spawns in a random game is half the fun. It is basically "Let me see where everyone is... ok spawn might be there, so let me just run to this spot..."
Everything is stunned? You mean dead, right?

That's a bunch of nonsense Slim. It takes super leet skills for me to throw Arc Nades besides **** the Geth. ![]()
And how is it not "a joke" to have 4 people with any kit whatsoever rush the basement of glacier and light up an entire spawn? 4 people are mashing buttons instead of 1. I get it. But that doesn't make it anymore difficult.
I feel like I'm not explaining myself well, or perhaps I'm not understanding you guys.
If the discussion is all about fun, then I 100 percent agree with you. It's not fun for 1 merc to kill everything while everyone else twiddle their thumbs.
But the implication on the forums is that people imply OP kits are scrubby and only used by people who need crutches. My counter point is that everyone rushing a spawn guns ablaze has the same effect.
More fun - yes
More skill - no
OP kits are OP kits, some take skill to get the OP out of them like Drellguard some I can take a bathroom break and spam the power button while I'm away and have decent chance of not being killed like the Geth Trooper. I play OP kits myself sometimes because it's fun to destroy the enemy from time to time. That said it's annoying when someone plays the same god tier kits over and over again.
This is an interesting discussion. I am hard pressed to accept that tactics or strategies themselves can be overpowered, even if they make the game easier. That is sort of the point of tactics and strategies.
Maybe complaining about the spawn system would make some sense, since that is part of the game design. But if spawns were 100% random imagine the complaining about units getting dropped on top of players' heads.

So you are saying 4 random kits, 3 of which possibly (probably) with low level uncommon weapons (possibly even common) weapons running to the basement is the same as an OP kit? That is basically what I gather from what you are saying since most of the randoms I come across are sporting stuff like that when they are in my lobbies. Sure that initial spawn will get wiped decently quickly still because a player like myself will take advantage of combos and in early waves (gold at least) the trooper level enemies aren't going to last long. Later waves, rushing those spawns doesn't work the same without an OP kit because it takes time to bring down the armored units, so then you have stuff popping up behind you and trapping you rather than taking the spawn out quickly and moving on.
Take an OP kit and most of that armor is shredded too, thus giving at least the OP kit person a free area to not get wrecked instead. Point being is that there is a MAJOR difference unless the whole team is good and understands spawns after the initial spawn and I don't see how there is any argument against that. They are not the same level of broken when one OP kit can take seconds to wipe a spawn in the same amount or even less time than it can take 4 non-OP kits to do the same.
I am not saying OP kits are scrubby, but a skilled player with them LITERALLY can just break the game and leave basically nothing for anyone else to kill. As I said before, I use them from time to time when I want to kill all the stuff, I really don't care if that bothers anyone else.
Only on Ghost hazard. I like to hang out in the middle corridor when it's raining, whereas a lot of pugs tend to like hanging out in that small room along the left side of the map. I don't like being boxed in that room because there aren't enough escape routes.
Doesn't bug me anywhere else. I can handle messed up spawns. In fact, I rather enjoy the unpredictability.
@mrs_anomoly: I personally like the center of Rio cause I hate running back and forth on that map, but if I were going to get overwhelmed I know to HOLD THE LINE.
Fixed this for you scrub.

If I have my scrubby AreleX friends with me, of course I will HOLD THE LINE!!!
You can force spawns reliably only on smaller maps like jade, white, glacier. On bigger maps, you need good communication to do it. Also, you can force 1-2 spawns max per wave even on smaller maps, let alone larger ones. And on later waves with bigger budgets and more bosses, it becomes even less of a deal.
OP kits on the other hand, don't care for map or wave. A talon GI, harrier TGI, AIU, QMI etc don't care for the map. They can obliterate a spawn on any map, and can do it consistently during a wave and on any wave. Saying that they are comparable is not correct IMO.
But the implication on the forums is that people imply OP kits are scrubby and only used by people who need crutches. My counter point is that everyone rushing a spawn guns ablaze has the same effect.
Pretty much all of us use OP kits from time to time. Sinful and mega included. Don't assume a consensus based off of the vocal minority because the people who don't care, don't care so much that there is no point arguing with people who won't change their minds.
Your comment about fun, everyone's preferences are based off of it. Some people find it fun to rush spawns. Some people find it fun to use less than optimal kits. Some people find it fun to kill teammates with abominations. Others spend their time trying to get the lowest possible time while some people like to do unknown/unknown solos.
Personally, I have more fun when I am not getting Geth Hunters and Geth Pyro's spawning behind me with there being literally nothing I can do. Regardless of OP kits, this is how I feel.
In gold I stay with the squad, lower I do my own thing
I'm not a great player but I have 6 gels and that's plenty
Oh, my, god. N7, look at her Venom!.
It is so big. [scoff] She looks like,
one of those Cerberus guys' girlfriends.
But, you know, who understands those Cerberus guys? *scoff*
They only talk to her, because,
she looks like a total kick ass fighter, 'kay?
I mean, her Venom, is just so big.
I can't believe it's just so staggering, it's like,
out there, I mean - wtf. Look!
She's just so ... impressive!
[Sir Mix-a-Lot]
I like big OP Kits and I can not lie
You other brothers can't deny
That when a girl walks in with a freaking Venom on her waist
And a Harrier thing in your face
You get sprung, wanna pull out your tough
'Cause you notice that gun was stuffed
Deep in the barrel she's wearing
I'm hooked and I can't stop staring
Oh baby, I wanna get with you
And take your screencap
My homeboys tried to warn me
But that Harrier you got makes me so horny
Ooh, Rump-o'-smooth-sniping
You say you wanna get in my gun ship?
Well, use me, use me
'Cause you ain't that average PUG
I've seen them revivin'
To hell with revive chains'
She's OP, so competent,
Got it goin' like a turbo 'Mako
I'm tired of egotistical players
Sayin' common weapons are the thing
Take the average shitty player and ask him that
She gotta pack much back
So, fellas! (Yeah!) Fellas! (Yeah!)
Has your girlfriend got the OP KIT? (Hell yeah!)
Tell 'em to kill and slaughter Reapers with it! (Kill it!) Kill it! (Kill it!)
Shake that healthy butt!
Baby got OP Kits!
In gold I stay with the squad, lower I do my own thing
I'm not a great player but I have 6 gels and that's plenty
I used to think 6 Medi-gels were enough... sadly, I was wrong.
Host puts Condor/Collectors/Platinum... this is not going to end well... 'cause peasetree, that's why!
Not really. Only if they are in a bad location and insist on camping there (i.e., the middle of Rio).

If I had a problem with teammates deciding where and how to play legitimately, I'm probably the one with the real problem.
