On the positive having read this interview I am now totally rethinking my class options. I generally pick a stealthy rogue with lock picks for plot reasons, but if Cole can play that role (and by the sounds of things better than me) maybe I should play something else.

However I am really not convinced by this companion disappearing mount system... especially if they kill the banter during it. What this means is that if I want to go exploring I have to choose between being bored by the fact that I am moving slower but having entertaining banter to make traversing the distance worth it... or moving faster but then being less engaged by not having my companions voices in my ears.

Companion banter in the previous games has really added to things and made longer stretches of walking easier to deal with, kind of like the radio in fallout 3, it adds to the atmosphere... and part of me would now worry about turning mounts on for fear of missing some cool observation when my team enters a new area.

I understand having them on extra mounts might be difficult in terms of physical space... but even if you cant visually show them, I would at least like to be able to hear them without having to sacrifice travel speed for diologue.

BTW didn't I just start this thread? Why is it saying someone else started it? This is weird. It's still my forum title and everything. :/

The thread was possibly merged with another.

I think it'll be fine. It means that you'll hear banter when you're in "explore-mode," and playing at a more casual pace. But when you're in a rush, you can use your mount, and not worry about missing on on interesting banter that you weren't paying attention to cos you were rushing, because it will play at some other point when you're not mounted.

Right now when I play, I often times stop walking when a banter starts, cos too many times have I walked into combat or something during a banter and missed the whole conversation.

So I choose to view it as helping us manage when is a good time for us to hear banter.

Pretty much this.  In my first time in an area I find I don't spend much time on my mount as it is as I'm usually exploring.  But when I need to get somewhere in a hurry, it's there for me.
