So, before the beginning of this movie, the humans in a secret government agency betray the Autobots after the battle of Chicago, and hunt them over the next 5 years until there are only 4 left. We even get a scene in the beginning of the movie where Ratchet gets attacked by the secret government team and is beheaded, and we later see his head hanging in a lab being melted down. There is also government propaganda everywhere telling people to turn in all aliens and robots.

Into this setup, the movie's plot has humans reverse engineering the transformers after destroying them, and then unwittingly being manipulated by Megatron's corpse into releasing an apocalypse. Of course, Optimus decides to help.

My question is, if you were in the position of the autobots, after such a thorough and vicious betrayal by an ally, what would you have done? 'Cause in the last last 20 minutes of the movie I was just shaking my head thinking, "Optimus, man... just stand back and take the Transformium."

The whole movie was horrible, I didn't think much of it. Putting comments about it in spoiler tags is an insult to spoilers, because it suggests some plot elements are deserving to be kept hidden from uninitiated eyes.

 

It only had two redeeming qualities: how they handled the funny dude character and Bay tuning down his military fetish.
