The things that make it hard for me to go through ME2 again is that there's a lot of chores involved that are harder to avoid than with ME3. I don't care for the way side quests are designed in the latter, but I don't need them to do anything else, like upgrade a weapon, health or armor. Cthulhu damn you, mineral scanning.

Cerberus isn't evil. They 'supposedly' look out for humanity's best interests. Unfortunately that was not seen in ME3.

Mass effect 1 : cerberus = extremist who make experiments on humans

Mass Effect 2 : TIM want to have the collector base.

Mass Effect 3 : cerberus still make experiments on human to create husks and to understand how to control.

I think that what Cheviot means by "evil" is extremist. They didn't change during the trilogy. TIM have always been trying to find a way to control the reapers, that's how he helps humanity.

35mns of being a paragon femshep died. I cant resist punching that doctor on Eden prime. Deleted my paragon femshep engineer and started a Mshep soldier Renegade. Old habits....never gets old. Wrex, I'm coming for you. Liara, I'm not coming for you.

There's actually nothing inherently evil about wanting to hold on to the base, regardless of what went on there, which is why I have issues with Paragon Shepard's claim that it was destroyed because it was an "abomination, in which people were killed. Had Cerberus/The Illusive Man not gone off the rails with its reckless use of reaper technology, some good could have actually come of it from the beginning. Only problem is that reaper technology is like insane space voodoo with how even bits and pieces of reapers can bend people's minds.

I never said it was evil. I said TIM wants to understand and control. Isn't it why he wanted to save the collector base?

Fair enough, though ME2 didn't really get this point across very well. The whole control thing didn't come up until ME3. In ME2, it was Shepard that could jump to the conclusion that he might want to build his own reaper or something.

I Truly believed in TIM an given him the base but after hearing everyone's reaction I reloaded and blew it up. I'm still somewhat conflicted about the base. Maybe if TIM wasn't indoctrinated or became indoctrinated from the base I wouldn't mind him having it. As long as it uplifts human dominance in the galaxy I'm for it. Unfortunately it was only Cerberus Dominance he wanted. Traitor!

The control option is explicit in mass effect 3, but it's coherent with what they have done. It is implicit in the first two games.

Sure, insofar that Cerberus wants to control thorian creepers and rachni, but elevating that principle to the level of the reapers initially comes off like someone who wants to air condition the entirety of Sub-Saharan Africa.

Yes, we can see it that way. The most important is that Cerberus has always been an extremist group and TIM as the leader has always been megalomaniac.

That's pretty close to what I was thinking, but I was more focussed on Cerberus' (and TIM's) disreguard for human life all the way through the series.  TIM says he's fighting to protect humanity, but he has no qualms about wasting innocent human lives; like the Reapers, he has let the ends take precedence over the means.  He thinks nothing of harming the very thing he's trying to protect.  In fact, one can even wonder whether TIM actually believes what he says: he spends most of ME2 saying he's doing all this to protect humanity, but, when he appears at the collector base, it's the second time he's sent Shepard onto an Collector stronghold with an alterior motive.  Has the whole suicide mission been about securing a peice of property for TIM?

Uh.. why not just continue with the engineer?

I like the way FemShep says "Say goodnight, Manuel." That alone makes gaining those 9 renegade points irresistible.

I think ME3 makes the other classes shine a bit more, but that's also because they're no longer restricted to specific weaponry. I've started to really appreciate the Soldier class in ME1. While this class cannot get biotic amps, applying throw as the bonus power does allow me to enjoy a wee bit of the Vanguard that I'm used to, especially since throw is the only power I've ever bothered to evolve (Liara and Kaidan made lift and warp unnecessary). But being able to use every weapon makes Shepard unstoppable with the insanely powerful HMWSR.

Other than a recent playthrough as an adept, I've only ever played soldier or infiltrator in ME1. Playing casual or normal difficulty makes combat all about shooting things. In my adept run the bad guys were usually dead before I decided which power I wanted to use, so I usually just ended up shooting everything with a pistol anyway.

I like the way FemShep says "Say goodnight, Manuel." That alone makes gaining those 9 renegade points irresistible.

Indeed. Even the most goody-goody Alliance soldier should have one vice. Punching out raving lunatics is shep's.

I might do it someday. I've done a complete playthrough on the 360 before ( import my Shepard from ME1 to ME2 to ME3 ) but because ME1 did not come on the PS3 until after ME3 had come out I never had the opportunity to do a complete playthrough on the PS3. As it stands right now my ME1 playthrough has stalled on Noveria ( interestingly enough my 360 playthrough stalled here as well from 2007 to 2010 ).

Despite my issues with ME3 I would still like send off Shepard on the PS3 by going from ME1 to ME3 with one character.

Its not letting me post anything on BSN. :(

Is it because of my warning points or am I banned from posting?
