Developed by Moon Studios, Ori and The Blind Forest is a 2D platformer/RPG about a white guardian spirit named Ori who finds himself in a forest and adopted by a bear-like creature named Naru. She is taken from him by a malevolent entity named Kuro, forcing him to explore the forest on his own to save it from falling further into despair.

The game launched in March of 2015 for Xbox One and Windows.

Lets talk about it! I reeeaaally want to play this game. The art style, aesthetic, and music really grabs me.

Listen to it in the trailer.

I can tell I'm going to love this game's soundtrack/score, much as I enjoyed Journey's.

From the website's "about" section, it seems they were inspired by Super Metroid and Zelda: A Link To The Past.

Hmm.

The sound effect the creature makes reminds me of the voiceless Hooded figure from Journey, as in they only communicate via "music" in a sense, as in that trailer when it's pushing it's "Mother" to wake up and it makes those little sounds.

From my knowledge, the game has no voice over. So Ori and co. will be voiceless, or rather, their communication won't be with spoken language, it'll be with text.

Well, I hope Microsoft doesn't do a dumb thing now and say it's only for Windows 8.

Sounds good to me. At least from my eyes, those were the 2 big games for atmosphere/immersion in the 16-bit era. It's the difference between playing a game, and living an experience. Link To The Past in particular danced between High Fantasy & Dark Fantasy, and the screenshots depict that a bit.

I think it looks really damned good.

It was at least in my opinion the most striking reveal from Microsoft's conference at E3. Props to them for this because it looks *expletive* amazing.

I love that one of the devs that worked on the game, the voice actress who lends her voice to the game's theme, and the theme's composer all found this video and commented on it.

A metroidvania huh. That's too bad I liked the look of it but find metroidvanias painfully boring. I suppose i'll pick it up off steam when it's on sale.

Forgot to say before, reminds me of Child of Light. Except Ori's art style catches my attention more.

Found the artist who designed the cover artwork on Deviantart, says he'll upload more art related to the game later possibly. :o

It certainly stood out from the crowd at E3. Looks like one of the first essential games for the xbone.

I'm hoping for an earlier Autumn release rather than a later one though. It'd be nice to have something to play soon rather then add it to the massive backlog I'll no doubt have by the end of the year from all the other releases.
