Finished the game just now. Had a single tear in my eye at the end, my God. Game was bloody amazing.

Game of the Year candidate for certain, otherwise its snubbed or the year's top games list is stacked.

So glad I played this game. It was everything I hoped it would be and then some. So happy the hype was surpassed. :D

From the actual artist who created it for the game-

Well I should probably post that I did get a chance to sit down and play the thing.

Its an unusual experience to say the least. I don't think I've ever seen anything quite like its soundtrack and art style. In both regards, its beyond unique and memorable.  And seeing it in motion is something the pre-release footage just didn't do justice, even with how beautiful it seemed there.

On the other hand, the traditional yet solid and enjoyable gameplay feels like second nature as a metroidvania fan.

In terms of presentation in the industry, it feels like a huge step forward. And yet the whole thing's comfortably familiar.

So its a nice mix of genuine development alongside familiarity. Not something you see in every game you'll play.

I went through well over a quarter of the game in my first sitting, so I'll be rationing the rest of it to make it last. But so far, its been great.

Alas, my ability to understand whether there's any actual meaning to your posts or not has clearly been rationed.

Ori is pure magic, a real gem of a game and even more than that: living proof that indeed a game can be true art. I'm a thirty-year-old, bulky, bald guy yet at many occasions I bursted out in tears like a child during experiencing this miracle. It truly touched my soul and brought back my deepest, subliminal childhood memories and fantasies. Wow, just wow, I never thought that at this point of my life I could re-experience the magic of fairy-tales. I don't know much about psychology, but this game operates on a very deep, dare I say Jungian level: makes you delve deep into those ancient, archetypical memories, desires and fears that all humans share deep down in their souls and genetic codes.

This game deserves all the praise as an experience, but it is also an excellent game: a real challenge but not unfair with interesting gameplay. As of now this is my game of the year. Not long I fear since I'm a huge The Witcher fan, but still it is one of the strongest contenders this year. A game which is in my top 10 of all times for sure.

I will replay this one many times and here's hoping they will make a sequel for it. I highly recommend Ori and The Blind Forest to anyone. People, don't miss this one even if you are not a platformer fan (I'm not too big on platformers either).

Oh, thanks, I'm still affected by the experience. Nowadays I don't play too much unfortunately due to my work and life in general, but I just could not stop playing this one. I will post this on Steam and Metacritic at one point for sure. This game deserves to be known and expereinced. And here I intentionally use the word "experienced" instead of played.

I mean I love games like The Witcher, Mass Effect or Dragon Age because they tell interesting stories, introduce unforgettable characters and universes and make me enter the realm of epic, dark and heroic fantasies which let me forget about everyday problems for a short time, but this little gem with its innocence, simplicity and sincerity brings it all to a new level.

Hah, I get where you're coming from;Ori was a powerful game, it deserves more praise than it gets and it already gets a ton.

Didn't hear about this, but it could work if it was animated and followed the same art style as the game itself.

Started the game a few days ago.

I love the easter eggs in the game, took a screenie of one I found before I knew their were confirmed easter eggs. I got happy.

Other than the Triforce, what else is there? I seem to recall mention of a Super Meat Boy easter egg.

There's also a Mario Bros pipe and the famous Wilhelm scream that's in dozens of movies.

This is the scream in case no one knows what I'm talking about.

Apparently from what I'm reading on the web, Microsoft is super happy with Ori's success financially as it turned a profit(based on dev costs) in a week and made a profit for its devs Moon Studios in a couple of weeks.

I'd hope Moon Studios would work on something new next instead of turning Ori into a franchise with multiple installments, but we'll see what happens.

You can obviously tell that other things influenced this game tbh. Not that it's a bad thing, it's really a very good thing. Like collecting the three lights and returning them to the three places. Zelda games have always been notorious about the number 3. Like Nayru (water), Farore (forest) and Din (fire). Or collecting three items in order to move on with the story that's in just about every Zelda game.

The soundtrack definitely had me in chills as well.

I will seriously be disappoint if OATBF isn't one of the nominees for GOTY tbh.

I am 100% backing Ori for GOTY unless something else blows me away. It should at the very least be a nominee like Journey was.

I'm alright with it not winning all of them, but it certainly deserves a few GOTY wins from major pubs.

And I'm always listening to the soundtrack/score on iTunes.

I regularly listen to-

Spoiler

Though the whole bloody thing is magical. Those are just the ones I go back to if I'm not giving the whole soundtrack a listen from start to finish. The soundtrack/score alone should be nominated for best of the year.

It definitely wins in terms of soundtrack, no contest. In some cases they manage to transition seamlessly between tracks - I almost confused Moonlight Grotto and The Hideout's themes as the same one. They have a similar vibe, but the melodies are quite different.

You will get feels. :)

As far as the game, it does need at least a nomination. The beginning and end are some of the most memorable scenes of all time. :)
