Now I know the obvious answer is "I'M LOOKING FORWARD TO ADVENTURING WITH EVERYONE." Which I plan on doing myself as well! However, I can't help but find myself looking forward to adventuring with certain companions a little more than others. So my question to you guys is which companions are you most looking forward to adventuring with?
You can answer in any way you see fit- from most excited to least excited, etc.etc.
You can also judge by whatever merits you desire: character arc, class, impact on the Inquisition, looks, whatever.
Also let it be noted that just because you are more excited for a certain companion doesn't mean you aren't excited for the other companions, or that you don't plan on using them. I know I'll be rotating and incorporating my party as organically as possible, despite having favorites.
I gotta say the companions I'm most looking forward to adventuring with (and will probably consist of my main party) are Cassandra, Iron Bull, Sera, and Dorian.
-Dorian instantly intrugies me considering he is a mage (I always enjoy mages), but also an outcast from Tevinter. It doesn't get more saucy and interesting than that! The fact that he's incredibly smart/witty, in addition to be powerful and confident, makes me more excited to have him in my party.
-Cassandra has intrugied me since DA:2. I love me a strong willed gal. Always have, always will. Helps that she compliments my main Inquisitor so well by basically being a tank, whereas I'm a mage. She's also sexy, I won't deny that. ![]()
-Sera and Iron Bull are not what I expected, and this is a good thing. They've both turned out to be very interesting, fun characters that hold noble ideals. Definitely very excited for them.
I'd like to dedicate this little excerpt on characters I'm indifferent about. Here's why:
-Vivenne. I was very much looking forward to Vivenne earlier, but when the Stand Together Inquisition trailer came out, I started to get second thoughts. It seemed like Bioware did a 180 on her character. She came off a powerful mage with noble intentions that advocated for peace, yet in the trailer the Female Inquisitor said "...but what are her true intentions" as Vivenne smiled sinister-ly. That left me salty, I thought we established she plans to use her power and influence for peace and compromise. This left me feeling indifferent about her character.
-Varric. I know that so many of you claim Varric is going to be the constant party member who is never switched out, but I promise that won't be the case. As much as we all love Varric and recognize him as a bro, we're probably going to use our other companions more often. I've come to the conclusion that this is possible because of a couple of reasons: he is old and it's natural that we're more interested in meeting/learning new companions. Varric is like your old pal who will always be there for you, yet you're always slightly more enticed to meet and explore with new people. Also, Varric's influence/usefulness in the Inquisition isn't as prominent other companions. Every companion (except maybe Cole) contributes greatly to the Inquisition in some way, and represents a certain kind of "people" in the process:
Iron Bull- Qunari/Mercenaries Sera- Commoners Dorian-Tevinter Idealists Cassandra-Seekers Vivenne-Mages/The Circle Solas-Apostates Blackwall-Grey Wardens
Yet Varric doesn't represent anyone. Could he possibly represent the Dwarven Merchants Guild? Or maybe even The Carta? it's possible, but I doubt it. The Dwarven Merchants guild wouldn't really rally under the Inquisition by Varric's word, for they don't even respect him much. He's a surfacer, his family name is disgraced, and he doesn't participate in their endeavors like he's expected. With the carta, it's established that he used to have dealings with them, but that is no longer the case. Even so, would mercenary dwarves really be that instrumental to the Inquisition? Iron Bull already has the mercenary aspect down...
Even in combat, Varric isn't too prominent. He's not as talented or versatile as the other companions we have, that's for sure. Just him and Bianca. While entertaining, not nearly as vital as what the other companions offer.
I love Varric like a bro, but I just don't feel he'll contribute to the Inquisition as much as the other companions will. Therefore, I'm not as excited for him like I am for others.
