When in doubt, roll dice.

Inn Room Assignments

1 - Owners' Suite - Laurelin
2 - Tessa and Bartha
3 - Rael
4 - Etienne
5 - Tempest

Etienne presumably knows which room is his, so 1d4.

1d4 → [3] = (3)
Room assignment

Hey, what do you know! He got it in one!

"For what it's worth, you have my help," Tempest said. "I'll do what I can. I promise."Laurelin nodded,a look of gratitude on her face ans slowly rose from the table."We'll speak again, tomorrow."She said "Goodnight and you have my thanks."

Someone had to inform their clan she thought, but how was she going to tell Auren that she intended to stay.

Laurelin was determined,it was her duty to help the Eladiel clan, whether they wanted her help or not...Lost in her thoughts she didn't notice Beldin, despite his formidable size and nearly bummed into him as he was making his way to the exit.
She apologized nervously and made her way upstairs to her room.

Of course Auren expressed his displeasure as soon as she announced her plans to him,he would never leave his sister alone in the company of strangers, especially humans.

After a long quarrel, she finally managed to convince him to return to the clan without her.
"May Mythal protect you brother"She said to him as he left and pecked his cheek. She couldn't sleep so she spent the rest of the night praying to the gods for her brother's safe return to their clan.

When Rael heard the knock at her door, she felt her stomach drop. Surely he was not brazen enough to come to her that very night? Part of her wanted to hide and pretend the room was empty. But she knew that would be a poor subterfuge indeed. No, better to have it out now while there were still people within earshot should she need aid.

Rael threw her cloak over her think sleeping garment and cracked open the door. Instantly the hostility in her face have way to confusion when she saw her visitor's small frame and red hair. "Etienne?" she whispered. "What are you doing here?"

Etienne let out a relieved sigh. Who knew the two were room neighbors? He hadn't a clue how she would react to his worry and, well, didn't really understand why he was so concerned in the first place. He readied the "wrong room" excuse.

"You ran off," he whispered in reply, brow furrowed. "That brick wall of a man showed up and you... I was..." Struggling for words wasn't something he did often. Seemed like the longer he tried to decipher the look on her face, the harder it was to talk. "I was worried. Are you okay?"

For a moment as he sputtered out his motivations, Rael thought that Etienne had misinterpreted their banter as an invitation to continue their interaction less verbally. But, no, he had simply seen her reaction to Beldin and read her correctly.

"I'm fine," she said rather unconvincingly. Then she cast a glance down the hallway to the main room of the tavern. It was empty now, save the innkeepers, who were hastily tidying up. Relief flooded through her as she realized that Beldin was gone.

"Fine, are you?" He gripped the edge of his bottom lip between his teeth as he watched her. There were few things a Circle mage needed to know more than the signs of a person who was afraid. Fear became power - often a dark power, one that needed a watchful eye. Her fear was certainly different but demanded attention as well. Arms folded over his chest, he cast a a glance to the common room as well. "Yes, well, I ran him off," he informed her, perhaps with the slightest hint of machismo.

Rael's eyes grew to the size of saucers. "You did what?" she demanded, barely maintaining her low volume. Beldin may have departed, but he would surely return. And now Etienne had made an enemy of him as well, for her sake, no less. Her face turned ashen as she asked, "Are you mad? Etienne, he's enormous! He could..." she trailed off. Etienne looked resolute in his decision, but, mage or not, Beldin's sheer size formidable when compared to Etienne's. The thought of Etienne being hurt--or worse--because of her was crushing. "Why would you do such a thing?" she finally managed.

For someone so small, yet powerful enough to run off a man-bear, he surely did startle when she raised her voice. He frowned when he turned his attention back to her. "Because you looked frightened?" It wasn't as if he expected accolades or congratulations, but shock or anger was something else. His hand drifted to his stomach and surely he would actually get sick after all. "After you left, messere Rael, I was worried. Asked him what had happened and he fled."

"So you scared him off, did you?" Rael said and the mirth returned to her eyes and her posture relaxed noticeably. "Then I'll sleep soundly, my brave protector. Good night." She began to retreat back into her room, but then impulsively darted her head out and brushed her lips against his cheek. He saw only a shy smile as she shut the door, leaving him with the scent of honey and juniper.

"Yes," he replied quickly, drawing himself up with hesitant pride the moment her expression changed. His smile returned... though perhaps timidly, as it seemed to confirm his concerns about the man. If she was truly that frightened, the next day was sure to go quite poorly. "Then my job is complete, no? Good night, messere."

There was a good chance he'd make more poor decisions that evening, possibly staying up the entire night to nurse a stomach ache and brush up on spells he hadn't used in years. Ready to retire to his room, he had just barely started his turn away when her lips touched his cheek. HIs eyes widened and he looked at her in shock, just in time to see the door snap closed behind her. "Oh, Maker," he breathed. With fingertips pressed against his blushed cheek, he hurried to his room.
