I'm not even going to pretend I'm a good player, and those of you who have the misfortune of coming across on PC know this. I want to improve so I thought between rounds with PUGs and friends, I would try solo runs. Obviously, barring the occasional hack in the middle of London or ambush Dragoon whipped into a primed phantom, bronze was easy. When it comes to silver, however, I get slaughtered around wave 7-8. Besides the infamous L2P or "Go back to bronze" remarks, does anyone have any suggestions be it class/build, weapons/mods, or consumables that could make silver solo more viable for a non-outstanding player? I'll worry about gold later and forget platinum-that level just isn't fun to me.

Krogan Vanguard + Reegar (with Cyclonics) against Geth is the easiest solo.

I still use my Jugg, but I started to stick him with a low ammo shotgun or a pistol, maybe a sniper rifle. Justicar has been fun solo.

This. It pretty much doesn't get easier than this, although TGI/AIU come close I guess.

Thanks for the suggestions. Once I get my characters leveled up again I'll give each of them a whirl.

If the goal is to improve, as the OP says, Kroguard/Reegar/Geth kind of defeats the purpose.
It's often said that "practice makes perfect". This is not true. Perfect practice makes perfect. Don't just play and repeat, be smart about it. Analyze your own games and identify your strengths and weaknesses, then improve on areas that are lacking and find ways to better utilize your strenghts. When you fail, make sure you understand why you fail and how to avoid the same thing in the future.
As for kits and weapons... Pick something you're quite comfortable with, something that's potentially powerful but requires skill to use. Avoid anything that lets you get away with lots of mistakes, you'll only develop bad habits and slow your progress as a player. This way whatever you choose responds well to your own improvement, making it that much easier to analyze your progress - and it's also very rewarding.
Just my opinion, of course. ![]()

Yeah, if the goal is to improve as a player, I totally agree.
If the goal is just to get the solo done, then use the Kroguard and don't look back...

Just play collectors.
- They are tough and help you improve your game
- They have the least BS which means you'll be punished for your own mistakes and not some cheap-ass nonsense from the game
- No phantoms, no primes, no hunters, no goons, no banshees, no ravagers => no BP rise, stress-free experience
Other suggestions:
- Learn to abuse Right-hand advantage
- Use cyclonic IV, incendiary IV to cheese, armor piercing or drill rounds to shoot through walls and exploit multi-hit glitches.
- TGI, GT flamer, AIU, kroguard are some of the easy classes. But most krogans, batarians are pretty good and durable. Juggernaut is another good class to solo with. But they are relatively easy mode. Pick other classes if you want to challenge yourself, but it'll take a few more tries.
- As for map, choose ghost or white. Easy to kite, and good objectives too.
- Weapon: Use your best weapon. Highest level ultrarares are pretty useful for first solo.

You forgot Giant for all that elite pro kiting techniques.

Thank you to everyone that has contributed so far- I will probably post my appreciation multiple times as new suggestions are sent. I have been trying to avoid the Juggernaut and "free revive" classes specifically to force myself to get better. I have failed to take the map into account while the rounds up which would definitely make my life easier. With what advice this community has offered so far, I'm thinking start cheesy with the Kroguard and lolreegar probably on giant just to get over the complete the first match hump and then switch to other classes and reduce consumables.

GI
This^.
GI is all powerfull, yet not so "cheap" like the AIU or TGI, so you won't develop "bad habits".

Use Geth Scanner.
Start with Giant, White, Ghost, Reactor.
Pay close attention to map layouts. The ability to walk backwards through a map while shooting without bumping into a wall or cover is invaluable.
Join Prestacious's Themed Challenge Group and do the Silver version of the N7 Challenge Series, which is a good test of your skill as it gets progressively harder with each level and also requires the use of different maps and loadouts.
Enemy AI follows your path through the map, but if you do break LOS and run away, particularly on a large map, they will spend a few seconds looking around the area where they last "saw" you. This is useful on objective waves.
Dealing enough damage stops a banshee's advance, if you can kite her into an area where she can't spam you with warp balls she can be ignored for about 10 seconds while you kill other things (like ravagers).
Ravagers are terrible.
Use Turian Soldier.

Totally relate, OP (I'm rather scrubby myself). I'll often start up silver solos to try out weapons/kits I haven't played in a while, usually on Giant (the light's good, can use the walls at the LZ to look at shot patterns, plus it's easy to kite there). I go in without consumables (except the permanent one) and won't gel or use ops packs unless I get past wave 3 free (and feel like actually trying to extract).
If you just want to extract, it's hard to get specific re: "class/build, weapons/mods, or consumables" for you. Had fun/success the other day with Asari Huntress/Giant/Reaper silver solo -- just send Dark Channel (under cloak, of course) on Ravagers, Banshees, & Brutes and run away -- they die shortly after (wish it worked so easily on gold)!

When I feel like being a Scrub, I set the match parameters to: Giant/Reapers/Scrub It feels just like Casual in Single Player. It would take at least a minute for the enemies to break through Drell shields.

Ghost is a nice map but does have occasional sucky objectives.
Keep moving in a circle around the map. Retreat before you get flanked.
On bronze and silver you can usually get the first two devices done by sprinting for them without firing a shot. Kite enemies from the later devices and hacks.
Reapers are the faction I prefer because I hate phantoms, stunlock and bees. Once I got it into my head that banshees can't really hurt you until they get close I stressed a lot less.
Good luck!

White/Gold/Cerberus
http://kalence.drupa...24053364!E.G9GK
Shoot a group of enemies -> charge -> boom!
phantom strategy:
charge -> shoot and melee while shes staggered
And really eeeasy pyjak mode:
Giant hazard/Gold/Reapers
http://kalence.drupa...24W53364!A306GG
Just throw grenades and activate explosions with carnage. They couldn't even come close to you.
But. If you want to improve - use true Krogan melee build.

I can only play geth solos since that one time I got to wave 9 and a banshee teleported through a wall with its arm already stuck through my head.

Maybe it comes from playing on PS3, but I can't remember a single Collectors game I enjoyed (even on PC).
- Yes, they're tough, but for the wrong reasons
- Butt lasers, lasers ignoring soft cover, Possessed Praetorian rockets going through walls, Scions, webs, bees, Captains, ridiculous melees, etc.
- Would rather take all those at once than Collectors
Anyway, this is all subjective. The most noob-friendly combos have already been posted, and once you get the first solo done, it becomes much easier mentally. Good luck, OP.

Warlord VS Geth is the easiest solo silver
Kroguard vs Geth is the easiest solo Gold
Juggernaut soloing isn't as easy as one would think because he's too slow

Warlord VS Geth is the easiest solo silver
T'is a bit easy, but even on Silver, it can get pretty crazy. All that melee slapping and Prime siege pulses hitting you all at once can still give the Warlord a hard time. Better bring a Venom.

Try the Shadow v Cerberus . With the duration/bonus power and Geth scanner . Devices are usually the worst objective and duration cloak makes them pretty easy. Take the Talon with AP or Drill for Atlas
http://kalence.drupa...32N56242!039B8G
Will work fine for Silver.
