With Inquisition coming out on 18 November in North America and 21 November elsewhere, none of us are going to have our minds on the game for a while. Let's take a break starting 18 November and ending 29 November. That gives everyone a full week to enjoy DAI without interruptions (that aren't work, school, spouses, or children).

Just checked the game thread, BFace did a great job for me, I think I'll have her roll all the time.  Haha, just kidding.

Welcome back! A lot of us are kinda wrapped up in DAI, so you haven't really missed a heck of a lot. A few changes, but I'm sure Tracie can fill you in.

Hi all, I want to apologize for my bitching and being annoying both IC and OoC. It's not fair to direct my OoC frustrations towards you and the game, in an attempt to make myself feel a bit better (and still fail at that, anyway). In order to not harm your fun any further, I'll be at least taking a break from the RP.

 

As I think the issues are not occuring during combat, I can log in once a day for that. 

 

I'll have to make up my mind whether I can continue Bartha, roll a new character or just quit altogether. You're a great bunch, and I am now abusing that.

You've been on the fence for a while now, undecided about where you wanted to go with Bartha. For whatever reason, playing her hasn't been fun for you. She *could* be, but you would have to sit down and figure out what elements of her personality you enjoy and which are creating grief for you. You can change literally anything you want about her. She's your character, and you can reinvent her at any time. When I say that you can do anything with her, what I mean is that you can do anything with *her*. Her relationship with other characters in the game isn't only up to her, though, since another player is involved. No matter how you shape her, you will need to evaluate your priorities, and decide her future. This might not be a comfortable process.

 

It's also possible that you might prefer to bring in a different character, someone completely new. If you wanted to run a Dalish elf, there's a really good place to swap out a character coming up. If you wanted to run a human, dwarf, or qunari, you'd have to wait until the party got back to Vintiver. But you'd still have to evaluate your priorities. You can bring in a character that doesn't have Bartha's history with the group, but without a clear development plan, you might still not be happy. Again, you can define anything you want about him or her *except* his or her relationship with other characters. That has to develop organically. But who knows? Thinking about new possibilities might rekindle your enthusiasm for RP. What kind of character would you want to play?

 

I think I speak for everyone when I say that we'll support you no matter what you decide.

I have explained, or at least tried to, several times that it has nothing to do with 'building relations' and I am not 'forcing connections' or whatever.

 

Yes, I regret not paying attention to my over the top selfish drama-seeking stuff, and that I would like to have a 'reload save' option to repair the damage I have done. I chose for such over the top rp that I did not only heavily damage my own character, but also the whole group. I feel ashamed of that, scold at myself for being so stupid, and it appears to be that no matter what I do: I only make things worse. I guess I actually wanted to get rid of her when I let her flee.

 

Bartha still is a nice character, but I have been misbehaving even outside of that whole fleeing thing. I had a clear plan, but I failed. I wanted to have an easygoing, practical, neutral character, a merchant's daughter who is switching between 'let's make some fun!' and a more serious 'prepare for the future as merchant'.

 

Apparently I made her into an attention seeking lecher. That is NOT the way I want to roleplay, nor have people get annoyed OoC with my stupid play style. This is my first forum roleplay, and guess what: my LARP approach fails, big time. Instead of inviting people to 'play if they want to', I ****** them off and instead of 'not interrupting others in their game' I am 'closed off moron'.

 

I want her to be kind and with a strong moral compass when it comes to harming someone else's feelings. Socially awkward, yes, and slow with building relations. The person who could easily chat, but would not easily open up. Hence, why I don't expect more than 'neutral' for approval.

 

I don't have the confidence I can play without ruining everyone else's fun.

If she's too burdened with past decisions, let her go and bring in somebody else. Somebody who might be more fun for you to roleplay.

The forum won't let me edit, but I wanted to add that the whole "scare of person by failed flirting, so they end up with someone more suitable" + "screw up, always" is something that makes me feel miserable ooc, for it comes too close.

I know that such is my problem, so I won't annoy you with it again, but I hope it helps explaining my regret over the happenings ingame and my wish I would have sticked to the path I wanted. No hard feelings, no guilt. Than I would have had more fun, and hopefully you too.

Fyi, Bartha is never intended to get beyond flirting, and I do not see that change.

Mahumia, I enjoy RPing with you. I like Bartha (so does Tempest IC) but if she's not fun for you, I am totally supportive of you rethinking your plans. I'm honestly a little perplexed because I guess I'm just not seeing the issues you're seeing. If RP is more stressful than good for you right now, I would also support you taking a break - although we will miss you - but if you've gotten the impression you're ruining things for other people... I can only speak for myself, but that is not the case and I've had fun writing with you.

Not exactly a vacation,but this week I'm very busy with finals.So I might delay a bit with my post,because I don't really want to do it in a rush.I will have Laurelin answer Tempest's question (and roll the cunning test) this Tuesday after I'm done with the exam.

Not a vacation for me either.  My psuedo father-in-law passed away yesterday morning.  I'm flying back to Virginia for the funeral.  I'll be gone until next Tuesday and I most likely won't be checking the boards.  

 

If combat develops, Bramble can roll for me.
