This might be a good place to put things on hold until after the holidays. An active segment is coming up, and quite frankly, I haven't got the resources to deal with it. I know that things won't really be better after the holidays, but I'm hoping that my coping skills will improve after the holidays.

 

I don't intend to abandon the game. I'd like to pick things up soon. But I need a week or two to regain equilibrium.

The truth is that I'm drowning. I support my sister, my brother in law, and (partially) my mother... and I'm losing my job. To make matters worse, they won't give me an end date, so I can't go looking for a new job without a clear start date. This is probably intentional. Add to that the fact that my (twin) sister has breast cancer and that my mom has melanoma, and it gets even worse. And that doesn't even address what I'm going to do about my niece and low-functioning autistic nephew, both of whom live with my mother. My sister and brother in law live with me, so losing the house would be disastrous for more than just me. I'm usually pretty good about dealing with stress. I've been living under a mountain of it for about 10 years. But I've run out of spoons and I'm starting to fall apart, so I need to take a step back until I acclimate to the new normal.

*hugs* Take all the time you need. If there is anything I can do to help (including just listening to venting) just say the word. I hope things look brighter soon.

Thanks for the kindness and the support. Mostly, it's just overwhelming because it's all *right now*. I've got the week between Christmas and New Years off, so I'm planning on doing some serious job searching then. I've been struggling with the idea that I can't leave my current position with work undone... but I'm starting to get my head around the idea that I can. If it gets to that point and I do get a job offer, I may just give them my two weeks notice. Assuming I find something at all.

 

What I'd really like is to win the lottery though.

Ouch, that is really a lot at once Ruth I'm sorry to hear that and I really hope that Murphy will gtfo rather yesterday than today. *Tries to push some good luck vibes in Ruth's direction*

 

If there is anything I can do... perhaps keep an eye out on Linkedin for job offers? And if I am honest: if your employer treats you bad (like keeping you on a line about the exact circumstances), than you don't need to be the sweet and humble employee dear! I get that you want to leave it in the best manner, but ey, YOU are the most important one.
