So guys if you read this i think it gives us a small hint that there will be some level of individuality to the companion's specs.

[DA]: Does that extensive knowledge aid him in combat?

[PW]: On the battlefield, Solas’s expertise with the Fade lets him manipulate magic in ways that would never occur to most mages.

That just implies Solas will be Rift Mage

I wonder if this means we need to unlock the specs again, like in DAO.

Yes, I think we need to get to some threshold of approval to have the NPC teach us the specialization, or follow some sort of dialogue path to get there.

So quite like DAO.

Yes. My sentence wasn't the most coherent because as I was typing it, I recalled that in DA:I we are not intended to be locked out of dialogue content because of approval rating. So I became unsure of whether they would approval-gate the specialization (it would seem to defeat the purpose of the change to approval).

I think all characters of a certain class (mage, etc) should have access to all specialisations in that class, with the exception of some character specific skills/powers. If this is not the case then maybe each class will have a pre-determined set of skills available to all characters in that class then have their own specialization skills separately. An example of this would be the mage class, say Vivienne can do magic specific to knight enchanter and Dorian can do necromancer I'd guess that they could both learn elemental spells regardless of what specialisation they are.
