This seemed like a fun idea so I'd thought I give it a try.

If you were a new DAI companion what would you be like?

What would your race and class be?

Most importantly what do you think the biggest complaint about your character would be by the players?

I would be a female dwarf rouge who doesn't stand anywhere in most conflicts but refuse to budge on the ones I do feel strongly about  while I'd like to help everyone I get that is impossible and will think it's best to sacrifice the few to save the many, I'd also joke a lot with dry humor. I would also be quite lazy when it comes to walking and would try to get Iron Bull to pull me on a sleigh or cart behind him. I think most people would complain that I am two faced with how I act to their PC and probably say that I'm too disagreeable with some things and say they should be able to change my mind on my views. I may also be disliked by players for being passive aggressive about when I disagree with someone.

Edited: To clean up the post a little and add some new info.

I would be a dude. A tank. I would give up my own comfort if it helps advance the team.
I can lead but I can absolutely follow as well.

What would you be like?

- Stern, and yet forgiving. Vengeful, and yet compassionate. An enigma to the hubris self-righteous, and yet renowned to the common man. Feared by many, and yet loved by those who know my true name.

What would your race/class be?

- A human warrior. The perfect specimen the human race has to offer.

Biggest complaint about your character?

- I believe in God.

If I were a DAI companion, I wager I'd be like my canon Hawke; a human female Spirit Healer/Creation mage with a moderate view of the Circle system. I have an understanding with a Spirit of Compassion. I am, however, ruthless with slavers and anyone who preys on the weak. I wield no spells of destruction only of protection, support and healing. I love my companions and keep them safe, even those with whom I don't get along. I try to be a force for good in the world because if I didn't I'd hate everything.

And I would of course have a wicked, occasionally goofy, sense of humor. That's basically a requirement.

I'd probably be some Qunari spear thrower. Or archer.

I'd rather be an elf, but I'm too tall for that. :D

Basic Synopsis:

I'd probably be as close to Varric as you can possibly get without actually being Varric. That is to say, I'd be a talker, an exaggerator, a fiercely loyal friend and an outcast of my own society. And I'd have a near fetishistic attachment to my weapon. I would go full Dwarf Beard though.

Race, Class, Gender:

Much as I would want to be a strong Qunari or an Elf the girls wouldn't be able to keep their hands off, I'm definitely a broad, somewhat squat little dwarf who's a bit hairy. I'd definitely be a Thinking rogue as opposed to an Agile front-line rogue. So Artificer.

Biggest Flaw:

Lack of Ambition. Though arguably a virtue, I'd be perfectly happy being "The Friend who was there" and never "The Guy it all happens to".

Mine too. We'll both die in a trap by a Sloth demon. ;)

Id be an elf, mage and healer. Id be the loner in the group. I wouldn't necessarily be unwilling to know the others but I wouldn't be starting any party banter. The biggest complaint is that id be quickest to leave based on the inquisitors choices, one move I really disagree with and im gone, like middle of the night cutscene/no dialogue gone. For instance, the demo with the keep/village. If the inquisitor didn't go to the village and didn't send the soldier there, I would just ditch and go try to help. If he/she sent the soldiers to the village I might be persuaded to go to the keep, but I might just leave to help the soldiers anyway. Of course I don't have much context on that choice so this isn't absolute. Also all this would remain true even if my approval was way up and/or I was romanced(yes, I would be a LI depending on the inquisitor's looks and personality)

Race Class: Elf Rogue/Warrior... Hybrid.

Origin: City Elf who escaped the city and went to find the Dalish. And found them of course.

What I would be like: Respect people with the strength to make changes about themselves and hopefully do some good for the world and those close to them while they're at it. I'd approve when the Inquisitor helps those who deserve it, and when he/she sticks up for himself/herself when faced with difficulty.

I'm like Velanna, but less harsh. Waaaay less harsh. I don't hate the City Elves for living in the cities, I'd only stop caring for them if they didn't stand up themselves when given a real opportunity. if the Dalish needed elves for an army and the City Elves were too afraid to join, THATS when I'd stop caring for them.

Weakness: Uh... Stfu about my weaknesses lol. I guess I don't give % my trust someone easily and pass a lot of people over, apparently (some sensitive) people think I'm an ******* because I talk to them like Sten. But when I do trust someone, I transform into a big softie for them, and softies are easily exploited :P

Goal: Improve the lives of Elves and focus on building a new home for the Elves, in peace with the humans. As a former City Elf, I won't forget the people I left behind and hope they're strong enough to stand up for themselves when the Dalish ask for their help.

I'd be a female surface Dwarf with a misguided love of the Ancestors, among other dwarven things; including a lack of understanding that they would be disproving of her surface life / history. From a fishing family in Ferelden, poorly self trained in sword and shield combat as of the Blight, with a strong distrust of demons and blood magic, and an overall lack of experience with mages that stems a curiosity. Good hearted, gullible, and poor communication skills resulting in a lack of wit and comprehension of humor, but appreciating laughter and joy in others. People would probably dislike companion-me because they'd feel a confused dwarf had been done before and that a dislike of blood magic would hold back some of their customization options; but I'd hope that people would like companion-me for being a mostly neutral option that is not steeped in tragedy or jaded.

Race: I'd be human, as I am now!

Backstory: I'd be a Mage from Tevinter, like Dorian. And like Dorian, I'd have willingly left because I am in disagreement with the politics and magical abuses. Also, my magical focus would have been Primal-Spirit Healer/Creation, and Tevinter doesn't really seem to value and nourish defensive/healing abilities as we've seen, for they really don't generate the power they desire...not like primal/elemental/spirit spells, blood magic, or necromancy.

What led me to the Inquisition: Disgusted by the morals of my land, along with the desire to continue to perfect my healing craft, I set off for other lands in search of proper training for healing/spirit magic.

Role in Inquisition: I'd be the healer of group, like Wynne served in DA:O, though I'd still have my fair share of offensive magic (y'all already know I'd use Chain Lightening and Crushing Prison for days..).

Personality: My personality would be a mixture of all three of the iconic personalities presented in Dragon Age: Noble, Clever, and Direct/Aggressive. To those with good hearts and ideals, I would give them the world. Always stand up for the defenseless, always protect the pure/good people of Thedas til my dying breath. However, I would try to find humor in many situations and apply them when appropriate.

Biggest Flaw: Aggression, lack of mercy. Like I've mentioned that I'd be benevolent and clever, I'd also have a short temper. I take things personally, and it may skew my ability to think over my actions. I'm big on respect, and when disrespect is shown to me (whether I'm a mage or otherwise) that's reason enough to smite the person(s) who dare insult me. It's ironic how I specialize in healing magic, yet I wouldn't hesitate to smite the wicked without mercy.

A comparison: Think of it like Samara from ME2 except without the strict moral code to adhere to. I believe to helping anyone who's deserves it, and won't hesitate to kill those who sin, disrespect, or get in my way.

What I'd WANT to be:

Race/Class- Male Qunari Vashoth Mage who is somewhat confused by others reactions. Happened to be raised in Rivain, which is why I grew up tolerated given the Rivaini and Qunari don't clash

Role- Debilitator/Controller. I like being the one that aggravates and plays Jedi mind tricks on enemies

Personality- Openly sarcastic, if Dorian and Vivienne adopted a little horned magister...

Biggest Flaw- The mean streak of course. And refusal to wear Ferelden fashions

What I'd ACTUALLY be:

Race- Male (duh) Human Mage from Antiva, happens to be a mixture of Antivan and Rivaini ancestry

Role- Support/Healer. IRL I'm the one to be backing others up and healing from the backlines. Though I DO know how to fight with a staff

Specialization- Which leads my Spec to Knight Enchanter. Because I do know how to fight.

Personality- Too nice for my own good. But possesses a mean streak heard only by the player in my Codex and grumbles

Complaint- My voice (I have a horrid voice), 'too boring'

I'd be a human female rogue from Ferelden with a Ranger specialization, or as near to it as we can get in DAI. I'd be generally quiet and suspicious of people but I'd open up if you got me talking about nature or animals. I'd be very respectful of other people's viewpoints, and would happily engage in intelligent conversation if I were feeling more sociable than usual. I'd have some pretty strong opinions but wouldn't generally speak about them, until the leader of the party does something I find unforgivable. Then I'd give him/her a piece of my mind and leave.

I might sing occasionally while camping.

Iron Bull, Varric, and Sera would probably think I was weird for not wanting to drink alcoholic beverages, but I'd sit and sip my tea while listening to them swap stories.

I would be a human female rogue with a funny, sarcastic tone. Distrustful of others until they prove themselves. Goodhearted, always willing to help out someone in need. Loyal and honest.

Fault: Unforgiving if betrayed.

Im not sure people would complain about that. By time the player betrays the companion they(companion) end up dead or never seen again.

They might complain if they can't kill them as part of the betrayal after all some posters want to give NPCs the murder knife for just about anything. Imagine them not being able to do that to a betrayable companion. Complaints will rain down.

I would be me. Super hot and unattainable, but adorably charming and witty with a heart of gold. I'd be an archer because bows are pretty and mine would be bedazzled.

I would be an Elf with crazy stalker tendencies, the type of Bioware romance that kind of just gets sprung on the player whether they want it or not and no matter what they do they can never get out of it.

I'd be a human Warrior. A tribesman from the Kokari wilds. My main concern would be the safety of my tribe so I would join up with the Protagonist with whatever world saving errands he/she would be on.. I would be okay with just about anything that didn't hurt my tribe. I'd would have a two handed weapon or dual wield.

Imagine the Mel Gibson interpretation of William Wallace and you would have the look accept with just some normal Chain mail.

As for personality I would be blunt, straight to the point, maybe a tad sociopathic with a little bit of a dry sense of humor. And being one of the wilds, I would have of course grown up on old superstitions and stories.

Pretty much Zevran except a human and not a dinky little elf. Like, exactly Zevran. Look good, sleep with everything, kill stuff and steal stuff and drink stuff.

But with blue eyes.

So rogue, assassin, theif.

Flaw: I couldn't give a **** unless its "me" or directly impacting me. Not so much selfish as indifferent.

Why I'm a companion: A demon broke one of my stuff and I'm really pissed about it.

I would be a human Circle mage, in whatever fight I've been brought along to help the helpless. I would disapprove of actions that centre around the "greater good"; leave one character to die for the sake of a different character and I'll focus on the one you abandoned, not the one(s) you saved. To put it into perspective, my character would urge the Warden to try the Circle of Magi,  begrudgingly accept sacrificing Isolde (her choice and partial fault) and heartily disagree with killing Connor.

I'd join the Inquisition so that I can focus my energy and talents on something that will benefit everyone and know I'm doing it for the right reasons, rather than the mage/templar war where my options are being killed/enslaved/imprisoned or killing my countrymen. I would probably also have a secondary agenda of trying to appeal for a compromise where a new Circle is established outside of Chantry doctrine.

Players might like me for my self-deprecating, awkward style of humour in dialogues and tendency to question the other companions on their beliefs and opinions, whether in agreement or not, to get to the root of who they are as a person. And then cast judgement.

Players might dislike me for my naivete when it comes to doing what has to be done, angst, judgemental nature, sometimes-patronising disposition, sarcasm, using mockery as a tool to keep people away and hypocrisy when it comes to mage freedom (belief in Circle abolition, unwilling to actively fight for it).

From what very little we know, my character would get along with IB, Varric, Cole, Dorian (maybe start a romance if PC romances neither) and Leliana. They might chafe with Vivienne, Cullen and Sera (even though as a player, Sera is one of the companions I'm most looking forward to). Don't know enough about Cass, Solas, Blackwall or Scribey.

This is a strange thread, but I haven't seen it before.

I'd be a female human board&sword warrior from Rivain. I'm a lot like Shikamaru from "Naruto" in the sense that Im good at what I do, but I do it grudgingly.

Joing the Inquisition would only be a means of protection for me and throwing myself into unnecessary physical conflict is not something I'd do voluntarily. The Inquisitor wouldn't catch any flak from me for leaving that village in the demo defenseless. The way I see it the more reinforcements at the fort the less likely I am to get killed.

An Inquisitor with a good sense of humor (preferably dry and sarcastic) and a realistic view of the world would get along greatly with me. Girl/Boy scouts who feel like they need to help everyone with every problem no matter how insignificant would quickly lose my allegiance.

Something players wouldn't like about me is my narcissistic and argumentative nature. I'm sure I'd ****** a lot of people of with my sarcastic observations of every slight mistake they make.

I would be a human rogue, perpetually drunk and obsessed with loot and hot man-booty.

Players would have a hard time with me in combat, as I'd be more interested in looting, drinking, and staring at the likes of Dorian to be of any use.
