Idealistic to think that everyone can do the same, that is.

I don't want to be that "open-minded" and completely ignore everything around me. You can't be a hero for everyone in the end, we all have to choose sides at some point. I always choose mages and pro-mages viewes because it feels right, in that case I fell involved in the history and fell like a part of it instead of being "just a player" or worse "I'll just try everything and see what will become of it". It's closest thing to a roleplaying to me. 

It doesn't mean that I'm some unreasonable jerk who kill every templar on sight, screw all authorities and kill every character who don't share my views (i.e. Wynne, Fenris and so on) or that I don't want to explore some characters stories and their motives.

 

If you're only going to play the game once, then I guess you will have to play as an opinionated self-insert and then deal with the backlash from that... no skin off my back.

I never play as a villain or even close to that. I spare almost everyone I can and do everything I can for every companion.

If they'll pay me for that kindness with a dagger in the back, it certainly won't be because I screwed something up. Because no matter what, Isabela f*cks us, uses us and so does Anders. 

Some things we simply can't control and can't be responsible for.

No.  I actually enjoy playing multiple characters with a wide range of personalities and motives that may or may not be in line with my own morality.  It's like watching a movie multiple times but seeing alternate realities play out as the protagonist changes with each telling of the tale.  Eventually I begin to favor one protagonist or another, but I still like to approach the situation from different angles even if that specific character interprets things differently on another playthrough...

 

So basically, the "neutral" character is a dry run meant to give me a lot of flexibility so that I don't approach the game expecting to change the world in a specific way and then getting frustrated by the lack of options.  There is also a good deal of inner conflict within the character.  He probably will not get along with certain companions (based on the little information we have), but I he isn't prejudiced against spirits for example, so Cole has a good chance of joining the team (unless he makes a horrible first impression).  Only the starting point is "neutral," but his personality and motives will determine how long things stay that way and what direction he will head in once he is exposed to each situation... I am simply trying to avoid deciding all of that in advance.

Well, I'm also trying to but it's not like I can forget everything I know so far so I simply will be very cautious and careful around some characters. Vivienne is just the most dangerous of them so far (at least for me) and also, Iron Bull. But I also want to know them so I prooobably let them in.

I hope it works out for you.  I realize that strict roleplaying isn't for everyone, so I can understand not really being that into the idea...

 

I am expecting some drama from Vivienne, but for some reason I don't see her as being dangerous to the team.  But on the other hand, I'm wary of Solas, Cole, Iron Bull, and Leliana, so I can understand how this might also apply to Vivienne... either way, a betrayal can add to the plot as long as we get a chance for retribution.  Betrayal followed by a plot-armored escape, however, isn't anything I'd want to see...

Of course there's a drama. It's Dragon age,there's drama everywhere. 

I don't think she's dangerous to the team simply because why would she be? She wants power so she'll probably use the Inquisition and Inquisitor by manipulating us. Killing some of the team members in the process isn't likely, I think she can be more subtle than that.

But I also think she can pull off something some of us won't like.

I've bought Sims 4 and decided to try and recreate Vivienne.  I'm still getting the hang of the CAS system, so this is a first attempt. 

 

Her exact skin colour isn't available, so that had to do. I settled on grey eyes for now, though I'll change them to brown later when the face is better.  Also, I'm terrible at fashion and make-up

 

BTW, she wants to get 'Fabulously Wealthy', she's Business Savvy, Self-Assured, a Perfectionist and Ambitious

 I actually alwys get some evil in my gameplay. eg ME2 I deliberatly killed of some characters just to see what it would give in ME3 (I didn't really like 2 companios, never mind who), DAI could be the same for me

You got to be real, man. It actually IS her skin color/ethnicity that turns a majority of her detractors off. I've seen white washed pics of her, and other "black" players actually trying to white wash her. Fighting against a poster called Nyeredzi just to white wash Vivienne's eyes, and hair. It's messed up.
