In the live stream Vivienne just said "these renegades sully the name of the Templars" in reference to some Templars they were fighting (not Red Templars). 

But... they are the templars and always were.

I thought that was Cassandra that said that though I didn't hear the voice that well. Also, those renegade templars might part of the same rebelling group as the red templars. We don't know for sure thats going on so don't be so sure that these templars were not part of the red templar faction (I assume they will have some other named besides red templars).

The Red Templars pretty much glow red, so you'll be able to tell the difference between them and the Rebel Templars in the MT war

When Vivienne said that line, it made me respect her even more. Now I think Vivienne and my pro-chantry character will get along quite well. I kind of knew that Vivienne doesn't really side with the mages or templars, but she thinks of the best solution for everyone in the long run.

I think they separate because it seems like the Reds might be allied with The Elder One

Well it was in the Hinterlands so I assumed it was the faction of Templars involved in the war with the mages (because that was the story going on in the hinterlands demo). That seemed to be the main faction of Templars but you are right in that we don't know how many there are. I am pretty sure there will be a faction who is loyal to the Chantry. I don't think they were Red Templars though and they have implied in the past that Red Templars will always be an enemy of the Inquisition.

Just re-watched, and I'm 100% positive that it is Vivienne.

Just to add I wasn't saying Vivienne is necessarily pro Templar. I still doubt that she is favor of being controlled, it just seems like she does believe that the Templars and probably also the Chantry should have a place in the circle system. Not necessarily for religious reasons either, it could be a purely political opinion.

Yep   but I think the theory that Vivienne might be for independent circles is out. She does seem to be completely for the old system, she just believes that one can achieve political power and status in that system.

Indeed. Pro-Circle has a wide, wide range of meanings. I, for example, am pro-Circle. To me, that simply means I think that while the Circle is necessary as an institution, the power imbalances between mages and Templars need serious, serious work.

Yeah it's pretty much the same ability. I think it's just been changed to fit in better with the Ice spells, seeing as it's randomly in the winter tree.
