I suspect that Vivienne dislikes any mage who makes mages look like they are too dangerous.

SHE WOULD TOTES LUV ANDERS

Actually, now that I think about it, it would be interesting to hear what she has to say about the Kirkwall disaster. She might not know Anders personally, but she likely would have a thing or two to say about him.

I wonder if Viv is an Knight Enchanter since Dorian is a Necromancer and Solas is a Rift Mage?

Seems to be. The lore behind it would fit, as would that one picture of her skill trees.

She will be if they use those specs.

It's possible companions would have their own.  I think they are supposed to give us more info on specs soon.

Well we saw IB was a Reaver in the demo. It's sad, since I, for the most part, loved that the DA2 companions had a totally unique specialisation. I suppose there's always the faint glimmer of hope that they could have the odd unique skill or maybe just some nice flavour text, but right now all my hope is going to a bisexual Vivienne and a Keep beta invite.

I don't think Vivienne is a Knight Enchanter.  She only used a staff and cast elemental spells like fire and ice, as well as some stonefist.  She did nothing that fits the Knight Enchanter description.  No "taking the charge", no "using blades of arcane force", and her obsession with form over function somewhat precludes her from being a front liner what with the lack of physical protection.

EDIT: I mean, from the gameplay videos we've seen.  Like the most recent ones from E3 and the Pax one.

Well they obviously aren't showing the specializations yet so it makes sense for her not to e using those abilities. You can most likely spec your companions however you wish so they simply had Viv only use mostly elemental spells in the demo's.

Good!!! Geez, I just realized that Anders was able to live in DA2 (well not in my playthroughs).. I wonder what Vivienne would say to him

She could probably just kill him since he's officially a fugitive in both the apostate mage and probably wanted in every country for the destruction of the chantry in Kirkwall.

He's right that Knight Enchanter doesn't fit her personality. She doesn't strike me as someone who'd get up in your face and beat you down with a magical blade when she could stand back and roast you from afar.

Now I'm starting to think it might be a mix of DAO and DA2

I still don't think there's enough data to assume each companion 'represents' one of the class specialisations... but it promotes discussion, I suppose.

Well, for one, she is wearing armor. We've only seen her using fire and ice. Form is important in battle, so that makes it even more possible, and maybe they had her as a mage dps, since we've seen her be in the party with tanks (Cassandra and Bull). So, yea I think she may be the knight Enachanter.

Who knows, the arcane blades could be like the Blades spells from the Fable games, and the specialisation could be more focused on making a mage a bit more tanky rather than a DPS powerhouse.

You... consider Vivienne's outfit to be armor?  Is she wearing a shell made of steel under that high-fashion getup?  The "form" in "form over function" pertained to her preference for fashionable over protective.  It was not a reference to the form of her martial abilities, if indeed they exist.

I don't get why people think Viv is a "stuck up ******".

-She likes looking good, like many women today.

-She's driven

-She's politically savvy

-She's extremely intelligent

-She's not a "yes, sir" type of gal

-She has a tongue of thorns to those who make themselves her enemies

and for some reason those traits make her a ******? Hmmm...

In the companion video (Stand together), the narrator went out her way to stress how powerful Vivienne is. I don't think we have seen all she can do in semi scripted gameplay video:

You maybe want to look over her outfit again! She is wearing an armor plate!

I have no doubt we haven't seen everything she can do, but I fail to see how that is relevant.  If anything that just adds more supposition into the debate rather than relying on what we've actually seen and read.

I think the outfit in shown in this image is cloth too, but who knows what she is packing under the cloth?

PS Anyone notice her facial expression here ... Grrrr

But I have a feeling it's going to be one of those times were she might change outfits as she gets into Knight mode

"What little armor she allows herself is cleverly hidden, and save for the rolled edges of her brest plate, there's little evidence of the hard steel beneath."

Wholly insufficient for the role of a front-line melee fray fighter.

Come now does the Madame strike you as a melee type? Perish the thought! Such a mundane job belongs to peons, there is no need to take to the front line when one can decimate from a safe distance, there she would remain pristine.

In all seriousness she does not strike me a Knight Enchanter she has more of an artillery feel to her.
