"What little armor she allows herself is cleverly hidden, and save for the rolled edges of her brest plate, there's little evidence of the hard steel beneath."

Wholly insufficient for the role of a front-line melee fray fighter.

Fenris.

For everyone who's saying she doesn't wear armor  <_<

Must have overlooked this PDF in the past, thanks.

Guess that solves it then ... good ol' steel:

Who do we have to hound at Bioware so we can we see more outfits like this:

That passage contradicts itself. It also talks about a cuirass and the edges of her breastplate, which is certainly not "little" armour.

My guess is that the intention is to say that she's not wearing greaves or mailed gloves, but does have armour protecting her chest cavity. Which is frankly more than DA:O rogues ever had.

Edit: Or Fernis. Fenris is a better example. Or Isabella straight up showing up in 2/3rds of a nightgown while fighting melee.

Okay... that boob window just got a hundred times stupider.

She's wearing a breastplate with a *giant hole* over her breast.

To be honest, the only way I can see her being a melee character is if she had a special enchantment made in order to prevent bloodstains on her outfit.

Magical boob window shield? Come now my dear its magic!

In all seriousness she is a mage, so an open part on her armor no matter where it is could be covered by magical protections.

Or she could be covering her entire body with magical protection like Arcane Shield.

Ok, you just don't want her to be a knight enchanter. Light armor can make for moving around and protection. It's a such thing as light, medium, and heavy armor!  <_<

Why do people think that the KE specialization has to mean that a character wears physical armour? We've already seen (in DA2) that the Rock Armour spell creates a literal armour of rock that fits like the mage Champion's armour does. That even fits with this idea the KE summons weapons.

Maybe Viv wears no armour because she can just summon it in battle, what little she wears being there mostly to protect her from a knife to the stomach when she's not paying attention.

Lol @ Isabella's nightgown ... Guess you have underestimated them too, had you seen them before playing DA:2?

Edit for nightgown eye candy:

Then there is no need to wear a steel breastplate.

I have no emotional investment on whether she is or isn't a Knight Enchanter.  I just don't believe the 'knowns' support the supposition that she is.

The entire argument for her being a Knight Enchanter seems to be predicated on "what ifs" and "well we dont know" etc.  I'm just trying to support my own prediction based on what we do know from what we've read of her and the Knight Enchanter specialization.  As well as the evidence shown in the gameplay videos with her in action.

Her personality does not make sense with what a Knight Enchanter is described as.  She is not seen doing anything remotely like the abilities a Knight Enchanter is described as specializing in.

Could she be a Knight Enchanter?  Of course, but we won't really know until either BioWare confirms or the game comes out.

I simply believe the evidence against is stronger than the evidence for.

There is also no need to wear a horny hat, doesnt seem to stop her does it?

Her motto is fashion over practicality after all.

We don't know anything about the Knight Enchanter specialization, other than fan theories that it's supposedly like the AW and will rely on physical armour. That's pure speculation. The fact that her gameplay video shows her in a conventional mage role isn't proof about her specialization - it may just be they picked the hot female mage to show off mage powers.

We don't see Cassandra use templar skills and we don't see Varric use whatever class people guess he's supposed to be, but that doesn't have people rule them out either.

It's all pure speculation, and the evidence tells us that we don't know anything and shouldn't be making guesses.

I don't think she's wearing a breastplate in that picture. ( I mean I think it's just casual clothes without steel and any resistance, made to look good at the court )

With the one we saw in the character kit, yes she's wearing a breatplate with all that is needed to protect her lightly in battle.

Anyways, for me a mage doesn't need armor, but that's something else.

I'm pretty damn sure that the cleavage means she's not wearing armor in that particular picture. Going by the description in the kit, it's the one where she has on the striped chest piece (actually there are two kinds it seems).

Saying we don't know anything about the Knight Enchanter specialization is disingenuous.  There is a description of it on the official site.  It isn't a comprehensive fact-book, but it certainly isn't nothing.

"Among the Circles of Magi, only a few mages have the strength of will necessary to focus their energy inward. Wrapped in protective magics and wielding blades of arcane force, the Knight Enchanters are rare, but inspiring sights as they lead the charge into enemy ranks."

Also, your last statement is false.  The fact that there is any evidence at all tells us something.  The purpose of this thread, and threads like it for other characters, are specifically FOR the speculation on those characters and to debate what that evidence may mean, even if it ends up meaning nothing.

That, and a good debate is just fun.  It isn't like this is a flame war, no one is being insulting.  We're discussing and disagreeing like adults.

She is Orlesians by culture if not birth, and have you seen the ridiculous things civilized people view as "fashionable"?

You realize that by posting that here, you're helping the troll that did this right? Leave the 4chan stuff on 4chan (or neogaf or tumblr and anywhere else it's likely to make waves).

I personally think that we should bann and ignore any white washing Vivienne picture from this thread, as It never existed. ( Well, I have my opinion, but I'm not sure I want to waste my time over what some people do out there or in their game in this thread. )

Ps : Also the original Vivienne is way more beautiful and natural than the false one.  :P

Well social controversy aside the photoshop isn’t half bad looks like an actual mod and not a touched up pic.

In any case you can’t stop people from making these mods, all it takes is one person with the skill to make a mod to change something they do not like.

But this really isn’t the thread to discuss this sort of thing, so please let us return to all thing Vivienne.

I'm really just surprised at how quick that was. At least in Isabela's case it wasn't until the game came out.

There is a similar version for Dorian here. Both modifications make the characters look completely ugly. It's the sort of thing that makes you worry about having a modding feature in the first place.
