now i get it got confused with the post lol... and Nox its just monkey or RM lets keep it informal XD@raging_monkey: No, Fiona is First Enchanter... she's Court Enchanter to Celene.
Now, of course, the Circles are currently dissolved - but I think Vivienne knows what is inevitable... and wants to make sure she's on top of the heap making policy when it does.
EDIT: I meant Grand Enchanter.

What MattH said.
Vivienne is the First Enchanter of Montisimmard, while Fiona is the Grand Enchanter of the Circle of Magi.

It's painful.
She's gorgeous and just seems perfect.

I wonder if there's anyone at all Vivienne sees as an equal, or at least respects enough not to talk down to.
I also wonder what her feelings are regarding Orlais. And what we would do in Orlais that would anger her.

The confusion is understandable though, from what I could find the term didn't exist in the lore until Asunder.
Incorrect although its an understandable mistake.
Its only mentioned a handful of times in the lore.
But it is mentioned in the codex that features cumberland: namely that it houses the conclave and seat of the Grand Enchanter, and also in the codex about the Imperium Chantry with the Black Divine being head of the circle and Grand Enchanter both.

@Xilizhra: I think anyone worthy of being her equal - wouldn't worry whether or not she considered them such.
She seems like a person that doesn't look for approval outside herself - her equal would have to think the same.
Is she Rivaini? If so - I'm more interested in what she thinks of her magic cesspool of a homeland.

She is of Rivaini heritage, yes, but she was born in Free Marches.

Inquisitor: So that's a no on dinner?
Vivienne: I'm sure it would be delightful, but sadly I'm already married.
Dorian: ...to her work.
Vivienne: Who just so happens to be rather...needy right now.

I sort of hope she has some personal allegiances and that it's not all completely a game and agenda. Like, they don't have to drive her to making bad decisions or limit her, but I don't want her to be a inherently lonely/detached character. At least I can be her friend...presumably.
SHE IS PERFECT. So much excitement. And glad to see Viv positivity everywhere.

I'm hoping she has loved ones as well. Preferably a lover and that she shows a trusted inquisitor she's not the iron lady all the time.

Double-checked all codex entries. You're right -though it's only the Imperial one- so I stand corrected.
Strange that the term in tucked away so deeply rather than just being on the Circle hierarchy one.

I find the idea that she's "perfect" to be both fascinating and baffling, and I can never quite see how others come to that conclusion. Can you elaborate?

I for one am baffled as to how you know every aspect of her personality, backstory and motivations to know that she is a horrible character. Are you a reviewer? Have you had extensive hands on with the story? Can you elaborate about how you know her so well?
You have realised that you are in the Vivienne thread and that more than likely people here would like her right? You're free to have your own opinion of course. I for one could care less about Sera as she is incredibly annoying to me. That being said I do not believe that she might be a horrible character because I don't like her [now].
The funny thing about Bioware (at least for me) is that there have been characters in past games that based on media or 'out of game' descriptions I thought I would dislike. A major example being Jack from ME2. I thought I would despise her as that rebellious, don't care attitude screams immaturity and annoys me in adults. However Jack was/ is a great character and I loved her development so much so I considered romancing her in ME2 to see her complete arc.
Vivienne does not gel with YOU we get it. After you play the game and have experienced her entire arc come again.

I think Morrigan and Vivienne is more like a rivals rather than colleagues. It's not by any of them to cooperate.
Idk, I think Morrigan would enjoy the debates with Viv.

I'd rather have Vivienne turn me down then attempt to romance anyone else. At least on my first through play through anyway.
Hopefully at least that's a possibility similar to the Samara romance scenes in Mass Effect 2.

That is something I've seen expecting for a while, personally. Wouldn't surprise me if they pulled a Samara with her.

I wonder if at some point, we will have to choose between Solas and Vivienne.
I would never let Vivienne leave my party, but their very different views on magic and freedong might bring us to a point-of-no-return scenario.

I can see my party being mage heavy! Though since I plan to be a rift mage Solas will be left behind as it would be a bit redundant. My party will have a minimum of 2 mages though I'm toying with different mage focused parties.
Basic "cover all bases" party
- Iquisi-mage
- Vivienne
- Warrior
- Rogue.
For Warriors I'm a bit torn between Cassandra and Iron Bull. Might take IB since I'll be a Qunari. As far as rogues go again its between two Varric and Cole.
Then party "Mystic Tower" 3 Mages and Warrior Tank. Vivienne and Dorian. All the mage specialisations in one party! ![]()
Then finally...party "Thaumaturgy" ALL MAGE BATTLE FIELD LOCKDOWN!

@Xilizhra: I like her poise and control.
I also like her confidence - which I don't see as arrogance. Arrogance - to me - is when you have less power than you portray. To me - Vivienne simply doesn't care what her lessers think of her - or, at least it appears this way.
I like that she has opinions - and of course I like that her opinions are in sync with my own.
I also like - even a little more confirmed by her trailer - that she's actually more concerned with the world around her, than she is with herself. This might not be true - but it certainly isn't true with people like Fiona and Adrian who are only concerned about mages because they are mages - and, in the end, as Adrian displays - even when a mage proves inconvenient to her own designs - she's ready to throw her best friend under the bus.
Who else she is? I am not sure - and at the end of the day I may not like her - but what I have seen, I have liked a great deal.

She's the only Circle mage we know of that didn't go FREEDOOOM! and actually decries the actions of those who did. With the last two games shoving the mage's plight down our throats, that makes her very interesting.
Also, she's ambitious. Not "Rawr! I have power! I have demons! Bow down to me!" but manipulatively ambitious. And I do like manipulative characters.
