Spoiler
The main thing I'm currently getting from Vivienne is that she thinks mages need to be smart about how they choose their battles. Not that they must always be docile.

I also get from vivi that the mages must not act like the spoiled children they do when you recruit them as free allies. >.>

Page 4?  Oh no, darlings, that simply won't do.....

Bump for Madame.

I just got the "Iron Bull, have you cleaned your blade since the last battle?" banter.  The little musical note in her "Thank you, darling!" was everything.  I love this woman.

This is pure comedy gold. These two are a hot mess.

Based on Coles conversation with Vivi, was she raped by the Duke?

What conversation is that?

If you're referring to the Duke she was in a relationship with however, I think the obvious answer is no. She was in a relationship with him for many years and obviously loved him. Also after he passes away if you ask her about him she has nothing but good things to say about him. There isn't any indication that he was abusive in any way.

regarding vivienne quest;

do you think potion was really for her or for Duke? the conversation with the nightmare implied she is a bit older than she seems...  it looks like we will be seeing more on vivienne in the future, hopefully all of companions (and main story) will get more highlighted in future dlc's.

My theory is that it's for both of them.

I am not sure about this. I have just been playing (and it is late so I wasn't focusing as well as I should) and I have just had dialogue between Vivienne and Cole. I remember Cole saying something like "he hurt you" and "left you feeling cold". I wish I could remember the name. Has anyone else had this conversation to explain it?

Unless I'm delirious due to the hour

I think vivienne used or at least tolerated duke for the social benefits, he did hurt her it seems. At most she was symphatetic toward him.

Whole "love at first sight" story was a cover to use the potion herself. This explains the whole "agenda and ambition" and fits with her manipulative personality.

Half of it is just the delivery of Indira Varma. She's great in this.

I love Sera, but watching her try to troll Vivienne only to get out played was hilarious. I remember hearing her say "Sera dear, whatever has your scattered mind conjured now" while walking on the Storm Coast and laughing for 5 straight minutes.

Vivienne is a fantastic character.  She's my favorite companion of the entire series.  She's witty and confident, yet a little vulnerable.  I could watch her troll the other companions for hours and not get bored.  If you friend-path her, she becomes a close confidant and ally.  I absolutely adore this woman.  She's a touch too conservative for me with her stance on the mage/templar rebellion, but she has never held that against me outside of a few disapproval points.  I think that her writer (was it Mary?) knocked it out of the park with her.  And Indira Varma sealed the deal with a stellar bit of acting.

Well, she hated me for it to the point of rearranging furniture for some reason.

Personally, I can barely stand looking at her or listening to her. The only banter I ever want to hear from her is with Cole, and that's because of how quickly Cole cuts through her defenses while being impossible to troll. Indira Varma was a good VA, but was good at creating someone I'd rather drill my eardrums out than hear again.

Fair enough. Different strokes and all. I'm not surprised we see this differently: my least favorite class is mage, my least favorite race is elf, and (outside of a single playthrough per game) I only play male characters. It's unsurprising that we have different world views.

I'm just wondering why we can't kick her out.

Preferably literally, over that balcony.

Actually, what I admit would be more satisfying is destroying her power base to the point that she has nothing to go back to.

She gives the potion to the duke, if that's what you mean. And what conversation is this? I don't recall any convo with a nightmare or anyone else relating to Viv.

Oh there are just a million reasons to love vivienne, the fact that she actually grinds the gears of so many here is just a bonus.

Then she would just hang out with your Inquisitor 4eva.

If someone happened to kill/banish Vivienne, the thing I'd miss the most about her would be...

...her hats!  :D

Just don't recruit her if you don't like her. I have the same disdain for Iron Bull, who many people like.

Walking with Vivienne in the Hinterlands next to the farm and she said the area "smelled like wet dog, *Sarcastic* how charming".

I guess she is more of a cat person

Vivienne is pure gold.

I can't justify it in an RP sense.

She does seem like a cat person.

I think cats are fascinating and teach you never to let your guard down.
